Various LEGO fansites have began reporting that this year’s flagship LEGO Black Friday release is rumoured to be a recreation of The Endurance, the ship in which Sir Ernest Shackleton embarked on his Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition between 1914 and 1917.

The following information has not be officially confirmed:

10335 The Endurance Ship will contain 3,500-4,500 pieces and retail for US$259.99 / £219.99 / €259.99 in Europe and be released on 29 November, 2024.

Shackleton's voyage ended when The Endurance became stuck in the ice of the Weddell Sea and the damn thing wouldn't budge. Decades later, it was blown up by Benjamin Franklin Gates during his 2004 quest to retrieve a meerschaum pipe.

I honestly am very excited for this. And if the pictures are anything to go off of, we will see black hulls again, if LEGO goes the route of using prefab hulls. I give it a 50/50 chance of that nowadays.

Time to start putting money away!

Interestingly, there was an Endurance submitted to Ideas once, but it didn't make the 10 000 minimum. I wonder how much the set will be inspired by this.

How many pieces would you say it was?

Love the reference to Benjamin Franklin Gates in National Treasure.  I'll have to watch the movie again.  Honestly I hope this rumor is true because that is a beautiful looking ship.  Not that I need to add another expensive set to my wishlist.

If the rumored piece count of 3500-4500 is true, there would be a lot of parts available for a brickbuild hull i guess. And the number of pieces would actually make for a very good price per piece. Even more so if the ship comes with "expensive" fabric sails.

I guess the discovery of the wreck in March 2022 spurred the creation of this set, since it takes 1 & a 1/2 - 2 years to make a set like this. Also, for those wanting to know more about it's voyage, here is the ships Wikipedia page.

I have mixed feelings about this set. On one hand it's a sailing ship... So that's interesting. On the other hand it's WAY too new to fit in with traditional Pirate ships. I feel like it will fit in with the Titanic better than with Pirate ships.

I'll wait for official images to decide whether it's a buy or a pass. But my initial response is pass.

3,500 - 4,5000 pieces, huh. I feel like it would have buildable hull (it’s not what I’m hoping for) or maybe some buildable pick.

I’m quite interested n that ship.

Ok, so I may have taken some creative liberties there :pir-grin:

For those who haven't seen National Treasure, Benjamin Franklin Gates is the protagonist of the movie, portrayed by Nicholas Cage.

In the prologue of the first film he's on an expedition to the Arctic in search of The Charlotte, a fictional ship with many parallels to The Endurance.

However, the wreck of Endurance wasn't discovered until March 2022, almost 18 years after the film was released in cinemas.

I suck at counting pieces, even in my own ships. :pir_laugh2: But, considering the brick-built hull, I'd say the 3,500 number given by LEGO for their ship is quite realistic in here too.

I can only hope its minifig-sized, and has fabric sails.
On the down side, it would need five types of sails to do proper justice to the sailplan of a barquentine.

Cautiously optimistic.  It's definitely a couple hundred years later than I'd like it to be, but a sailing ship done with modern techniques has a lot of potential to be a fun build.  B-Bay is my favorite build of all time, I think.  Hoping this has cloth sails and is minifig scale.

Dang, I never even considered that it might not be minifig scale.  I sure hope it is.

Here's hoping that it does not turn out to be just a Titanic style display piece.

Ahoy friends,

This is my first message and I'm not a english native. Don't be rude If I don't write correctly !

In the new video from Youtube Brick Clicker, there's a visual for The Endurance Ship. I don't know if it's a fake but the Set looks like a Minifigs scale ! :pir-sweet:

Here's the link (0:02 at the top left) :

Yeah, i saw that too! But it's only featured in the opening picture, so i think it has nothing to do with the Lego set and is just there for visualization. Ship looks great though

What do you think?

And welcome to the forum @Guix :pir-huzzah2:

Thanks a lot !

Sorry for the late, I was completing the "My name is..." topic on your forum !

Yeah, perhaps it's just an IA generated picture to make us click on the video... But, sometimes, we have good surprises with the Youtube Leaks. Who knows ?

I am pretty sure Lego is aware about his Pirate comunity fans. They remade the Black Seas Barracuda, the Eldorado Fortress, ... Even the 2020 pirate's ship (31109) looks make for nostalgic corsairs like us. This new Icons set should be an amazing one !

Very warm welcomes indeed, to our humble LEGO Pirates forum!  :pir-huzzah2:

Interesting how Brick Clicker doesn't actually use that image in the video - it's only present in the video preview/thumbnail image:

Instead, he uses the same historic photo as the image used in the first post of this topic, albeit in a more pristine form.

So maybe that's a hint for us.

Hello Governor and thanks a lot for your warms welcomes !

You know what ? I zoomed on the video thumbail, took a screenshot, then tried "Reverse Google" search, just to be sure...

You were true. Sadly, I think Bricker Clicker simply used a Flikr image named "The Spectre". An amazing Moc from Stefan Eeckman...

The Spectre

So... Nothing proves that this boat will be Minifigs scale. But I realy want to believe that Lego knows how much his fan would love this ! :pir_tong2:

Brilliant detective work! :pir-thumb:

Yes, this is one of @Sebeus I's MOCs.  In fact, we covered The Spectre on Classic-Pirates.com a few years back.
