Everyone has the right to dispose of Lego at their own discretion after purchasing it - one person assembles it and puts it on the shelf, another uses it for DIY projects, I resell it after a year, for example.

Don't you think we're drifting off topic a little bit :innocent:? This from a question that has been answered more than once, and I think that this isn't that much of an appropriate place to discuss about this anymore.

Hello! Didn't you see this? I thought that the discussion was over. Maybe creating a topic for this purpose would be better?

Both. Lack of rear diff is much more pronounced, of course.

Thank you @Mikdun - just as expected!

The difflock debate is just a symptom of a bigger issue thats worthy of discussion

I second this! Let's indeed stick to 42177 discussion as @Milan steered, but the sheer reason of why diff lock was put into a manual model, I believe does worth exploration for the reasons mentioned in my previous post. Lego Technic is a great prototyping tool, used by school (and not only) teams worldwide. Now, even if you decide to put it onto the shelf, there is nothing wrong in learning something from the original model, rather than saying 'who cares, it's just a 3D puzzle toy". Fully agree with @TeamThrifty that back in the days people spend more time rebuilding, and I must say the joy of creating something new and different, from existing elements is just unparalleled! The demand for that should be communicated to TLG. And as part of that, I'd like to re-iterate the importance of B-models - hence so much respect to somebody who managed to deliver B-model within days from official release, kudos to you sir, @M_longer

While filming for a MOC project I realized, that so far I haven't seen the G with the LBG rims from the AT-AT.

I think black is the better fit, especially with the hub caps on. But the LBG ones give some nice contrast to the model

The contrast is indeed nice, though some other colour would suit even better. Maybe we need those rims with the same colour as the body

Interesting enough, yesterday evening I saw exactly the same article and downloaded the Landrover pic into the brainstorm folder. The model would look better with orange fender instead black ones and with nearly the same hood design it may not very innovative over the main model. In the end the round headlights dont match for this in parts count, espacially to do for the couples on the roof. I would say for very ambitious people they are keen on this model, its doable as B-model but with some restrictions

Yes, indeed, perhaps without V8 engine...4 years ago I thought about Landrover with this orange color and not that kind of green that looks like inspired by 4th horsemann from Bible...simply that gray something was not vibrant IMHO enough for adventure vehicle like Landrover...

Let's discuss the 42177 Mercedes G500 4X4.

Posts discussing instructions for custom models have been hidden.

This is how democracy works ehh... People discussing instructions and MOCs for the G500 is for sure related to the set and this topic

Most of it was not at all about the set or its alternatives but discussion about sales and pricing of instructions in Rebrickable. I'm sure @Milan will allow talk about the G500 instructions, but more general discussion about the market on third party instructions should have it's own topic (which I believe could be very interesting to read even for someone such as me who has never bought any third party instructions.)

People were discussing 42128's instructions, Rebricable and paid instructions in general, which is for sure not related to the set and this topic.
So, once again, keep the discussion focused on the G500.

You have very strange rules - you can advertise paid MOС for free here, but you can't discuss their prices. The discussion of this model was previously conducted in comparison with other models - 42128 was mentioned as an example of MOС sales volume and nothing more. I see a bias on the part of the administration of a number of forums towards discussing financial and legal issues around Lego and MOС - apparently they understand that the conclusions from these discussions will be unpleasant not only for copy-pasters, but also for Lego itself, the authors of MOС and "democracy".

Again, for the third time, and I will not discuss this any further: stick to the G500 in this discussion, not third-party instructions for other sets.

If you still have issues with third party instructions market, feel free to discuss it in the appropriate topics in the General or Community forums.
Not here.

Sure, if there's already a dedicated topic for this specific case. If not, we can create one and continue the discussion there.

Does the latest version of Studio have the new 87mm tires? I don't want to update it because the latest version screws up many things.. Does anybody have the tire part file? I could not find it on @Philo's page yet.

I have made a custom part by meshing the Land Rover tires with resized Audi etron tires. And no, the official tires didn't get added yet.

BTW, the new studio update is very bad. It moved the hinge tool off to the side, and made it as a separate button next to the "move" tool. And when you try to steer hubs to check how the steering works, the hinge now no longer rotates the hub on the ball joints, but in the "air" and you have to reposition the hubs on the ball joints.

Part updates are separate from version, you'll get the parts automatically when they're available.  It checks when you start the program.
