It would really help if people who post which scanning apps work for them would specify which type of phone operating system they are using.  I have an android and the only app I've ever been able to get to work is the Bricksearch one.

I too am using 'Minifig Scan' on Android.

There was 1 person that reported having trouble with their (old) phone camera not focusing on the barcode, but that is the only trouble with it that I've heard of.

Is there a scanning ap recommended for Lego CMF Series this time? I once used Jay’s Brick Blog scanner for Series 26 (Space)

"Brick Search" app worked well for me (also on a not so new device: Sony Xperia with Android 13)

I just got seven from two Wal-marts near me, and they were all $4.98. Not sure why yours would be higher...

After just one day, one of the Wal-marts near me has already sold 2/3 of what they had, and the other one just got theirs out when I arrived. Between the two stores, I got three Dragonborn, two Halflings, one Tasha, and one Tiefling. Half of those are for family, but I'm keeping some of them as duplicates to go with my full sets, which should be arriving shortly. The codes are definitely handy, but a part of me does kinda miss feeling up bags. Noticed lots of Dwarves and Lady of Pains still around...

I checked again. And another local walmart has them under locked glass shelves for $5.23 each. I took a picture.

Anybody else notice the price change in their walmarts?

After building all the figs the two heads thing agitates me. They need to start making duel gendered heads. They would be even better for city worker type figs. Cops, hospital, maintenance, etc. Let the builder decide.

I personally don't mind having two expressions of the same gender on a face. It makes them much easier to play with - to have your characters go from "happy" to "scared," for example. That wouldn't be doable with a masculine and a feminine face on the same minifig. I'm all for having two heads with two expressions, though!

So back at walmart i used their app scan to check the price of the minififures and it gave me the price everyone in the states has been seeing even though in2 of my closest walmarts the sign says $5.23 per box. I tried to check out showing them their app price per box and they told me it's only when purchased online and that the store price of the minififures has gibe up to 5.23. Anyone else in the states had this happened at their walmarts?

U.K. collector here, I was pleased to find the series in my local WH Smith/Toys R Us. I grabbed 5 randoms for the first dive and got a Dragonborn, Tiefling, Aarakocra and a duplicate two witches! Looking at the prices on eBay and discussion here looks I was lucky getting the knight figure without scanning.

Mu goal is to get a complete series and 2 mindflayers

i hope I he series sells well and they renew for a 2nd, what’s your wish lists for a CMF series 2?

I hope for another Dragonbone in a different colour and class, a centaur (they need to reuse that mould in more colours). I’m not that familiar with DnD characters and lore

Scan the data matrix code instead of the barcode and you might have better luck

It seems that this IP CMF is generally being received positively by many collectors. I wonder how soon Lego would consider releasing another CMF? In 2 years?

I ordered two full sets and now I am really thinking of ordering a third one.

I received my box of these over the weekend and can definitively say after assembling them that this CMF series (and the space one!) is really, really good!  Very happy to have multiples of each in my collection, whereas the vast majority of CMF series only have 1 or 2 for me.  Now yes, as primarily a castle and space MOCer, this totally makes sense.  But the quality of these is just awesome.

Favorites:

  • Gith Warlock
  • Tasha
  • Dragonborn Paladin

Weakest:

  • Halfing Druid - the antlers co-molded in are annoying, but Lego clearly is trying to reduce its use of the plumage pins that they had in the '80s-'00s for stuff like the Black Knights / Dragon Knights dragon plumes.  Bar connectors might have looked weird for a hood, but oh boy would Lego-OEM antlers with a bar connection be amazing!
  • Elf Bard - I get it, but this fig just doesn't fit in with the rest of the series' color pallet.  A more muted scarf & gloves (dark orange, regular blue, regular green pearl gold even) would have pulled it back in line with the rest and still been separate enough to give some flamboyance that a performer ought to have while being more useful for MOCs.

Strahd is weird for me, his legs printing especially, but also the torso are styled in a way that screams "Marvel minifigure superhero suit!" to me.  Going to be more difficult to blend these elements into a medieval MOC for me perhaps.  It's also kind of annoying that his head is not white like the rest of Lego's vampires--though this is a direct consequence of adhering to the source material and that's usually a good thing....

Parts of note for me:

  • Lute - Another color/print = awesome.
  • Lady of Pain's headdress - I can't say I'm really a D&D afficionado, so without being deeply invested in the source material, I think this headgear could easily work in something like an Adventurer's build as a relic, statue part, or enemy as I don't see it first as "Lady of Pain".
  • Szass Tam's head - we've got a tan skeleton head for these, nice!
  • Aarakocra wings - Definitely going to be useful for MOCing.
  • Dragon familiar - This thing is great!  Hope it comes in other colors in the future.  As was stated earlier in this thread, this can easily be used for architectural stuff if it comes in greys/tans/whites.
  • Mace head - Great detailing part, hope we get more colors!

Great job Lego!  When are you releasing the CMF DD&DD Series 2?  :moar:

I love the extra heads and I hope they continue!  At absolute minimum, for MOC builders, more elements for the same price* is probably going to be embraced with open arms.  Much easier to populate an MOC with heads that aren't the same this way IMO.  I also love that none of these torso designs have any "v-neck shirt" printing, so we can swap heads around between complexions, races, species, monsters, aliens, robots, etc. without having to deal with a weird color mismatch.

*Well, at least the sting of CMFs going up in price since they started is less annoying with this set.

The extra headers, of those, I bought a 2nd set, to have both male and female at the same time.+ I got a blindbox free, that contained Gith Warlock, so now I have 3 warlocks in total.

I admit, after about 15 years of lego Star Wars I was burned out. Do not really like newer sets, the prices are sickening, I was ready to call it quits…..then I saw these. No idea what it is exactly, I never collected CMFs before, but these impressed me to the point that I spent a week running around looking for them. Some luck, and enjoying the ride. Great job Lego!

HOWEVER, the fact that we can now tell what is in the blind boxes, and we haven’t got a chance in hell of finding a Dragonborn, does need to be addressed. This will make highly desired figures in future waves almost impossible to find as more and more people learn about the app trick.  I do think some discussion is needed.

Just order some online from lego.com or buy a whole box from a seller like I did on ebay.  the box had 3 complete sets of all 12 figs.

A bit old school here. Quite use to running after Star Wars figures during the 2000’s.  Like the scanning app, there are quite easier ways to get things these days. Still learning, but appreciate your suggestion.

Personally for a second CMF I would hope for some characters from Dragonlance like Tanis, Raistlin, Caramon, Sturm, Riverwind, Goldmoon, Tas, Flint, Draconians, Laurana, Gilthas, Fizban, Bupu, Kitiara, Verminarrd, Arakias, etc.  Even some from Forgotton Realms like Drizzt, Geran Hulmaster, Asterion, Cattie-brie, Artemis Entreri, Jarlaxle, Rizzen, Selune, etc.  Gargoyles, Shadow warriors, drow, werewolves, undead, generic vampires, would be great too.

The apps work very well.  If you have a lego store near you they should have them there also.

Yes the Dragon Familiar is great really love that piece.  I also hope to get that in other colors.

I actually really like the halfling druid and think the hood piece is useful for other customs.  Especially the dual colored cape piece.

Strahd uniform is like that in the art for him.  Also having a variety of heads is a good thing especially if your making several characters in the same group or faction or army.

The Aarakocra wings will be great for customizing and even for statues

Tasha is very useful and the torso and legs will be great for making some interesting figs.

The Dragonborn is awesome and I love that torso print.

Really looking forward to experimenting with all these new prints and parts and also to see what other people come up with.

Ew, no! 🤮
I like getting extra heads for customisation, but dual M/F printed heads without a specific lore reason (e.g. a shapeshifter or a disguise) just restricts the number of possible expressions for each person, as well as prevents the use of hats and hair that show the reverse of the head (the trade-off to having only one expression).

A Drider would be better suited to a set, since the spider body would need more parts than CMFs allow.
Animated armour would be really good, since it could give us a generic suit of armour that can be used for various Castle factions, as well as a new helmet of some sort (my pick would be a sallet)!

7 - Lolth

Same issue as the Drider, IMO.
I am surprised that you did not include a Gnoll; they can be done easily in LEGO form at CMF size (reused faun legs, new moulded hyena head), and would be a good enemy to include. I also think that we should get another orc character (our only DnD one is in the RDT set!), with the CMF orc jaw recoloured in light grey.

This was the same before as well, you needed to find them in a shop before anyone looking for the same fig as you had been there and felt the packs. Probably easier for more people with the scanning, but plenty was good at feeling the packs so the popular figs disappeared quickly

Naah, only the lower part needs some more parts and as we know TLG, Spiders only have four to six legs, so there are plenty of options. ;-)

Walmart responded back in a somewhat long email about the price increase for the D&D minifigures at my local store to $5.23 per box, and they basically said inflation.

Looks more like greedflation to me. It's not a big increase but still surprised as I'm seeing other says their stores kept the 4.97 or 4.98 per minifgiure box. Disappointed though.
