Batman (DC Superheroes) 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

A somewhat pessimistic prediction ( but still more optimistic than some). I think we can rule out a reused superman because he is  probably out of print ( then again they could replicate the existing design but that would be lame, I guess I could see that happening for a juniors set).

I could see TLG waiting till the dust has settled to start properly covering Gunn's DCU but I'd hope they'd just be ready from the word go.

Yeah, I would. The pilot being batman focused is closest to what we get usually so I'm interested to see what direction you'll take the seasons focused on other heros in.

Is the classic superman out of print? You can still get him as a key ring. Is this different I have no idea.
But yeah if they are going to do superman very fair to assume new print and probably on the new movie.
I think 3 Batman & 3 superman sets plus poly bags is a reasonable expectation. hopefully a minifigures scale d2c set like Arkham or daily plannet maybe the last one is a bit optimistic. would love a massive Arkham.

Key chain minifigs are built totally differently from regular figs( or they were) the torso has no neck pin and instead a hole and the neck pin is actually part of the hips. This is to help keep the keychain together. ( I know this because the my 2014 batgirl minifig is actually a keychain I did surgery on. )

I was thinking of something analogous to the Batmobile's two reuses and one new character, Joker rarely pairs with anyone other than Harley, and the BTAS Batwing has two seats - Robin makes the most sense, so obviously LEGO would just reuse Harley again!

The Batmobile was a two seater as well but that didn't stop Lego from making it a one seater like it was a pre-Speed Champions car.

And speaking of the BTAS Batmobile, the more I look at the official set, the more I dislike it. The profile of it is too high up when it should be a lot more low to the ground, but the worst part for me has to be the rear with that barrel piece sticking out the back. If you look at any pics of the Batmobile from the show or some of the more accurate toys for it, the thruster is a lot more inward as opposed to jutting so far out and higher up as well instead of being near the bottom of the car.

I was originally going to get the set and make a blacked out version, but now I'm getting it just for the minifigures and using Gervant_Riviiskiy's MOC with his instructions on Rebrickable. His design is also a one seater, but at least it looks much more pleasing and accurate to the real thing. And just for fun, I recreated it in stud.io in dark blue to see how it looks and now I kind of want to make a second one (I just hope all the pieces that I need in dark blue exist in that color):

That is true, though maybe they were trying to keep it from being unreasonably large (since the Batmobile's seats are side-by-side)? The Batwing's seats are in a single row, so that seems easier to achieve at a reasonable scale.

Guys we have to be realistic.

PLEASE look Marvel sets and compare them to DC. (year by year).  ... at the moment I collect two "themes" ... all Batman / DC ... AND Adventure like new city jungle sets, Indiana jones and so on.

...
I had to. We get maybe 3-5 sets from DC / in 1 year which to buy so Adventure gives me more options. 2 lego universes. BANE minifigure is 100 % for me BUT so is the new tiger also. Amazing! 5/5 both of those. AND I heard that the gorillas are awesome also. YES! I will get Killer Crock sooner or later.

Depends. If we’re talking Avengers-levels waves with 5-6 sets, that’s not happening anytime soon. But a smaller wave with around 3 sets is pretty realistic. TLG usually either commit from the beginning or don’t bother at all  With movies especially, merch producers have to strike the iron while it’s hot, so I assume they will give the DCU at least a fair chance with its first proper outing.

I've never been one for keeping up to date with new comic releases and all that but apparently DC has introduced:

Quote
Spoiler

A new lantern corps?! The Grey lanterns of sorrow?!

I don't know what to think of that? Sorrow is more often a motivator to inaction not action.

Whilst I said I could see them waiting I did also say I hope (and TBH expect) them to strike while the iron is hot, as you say. 3 sets is about what I expect, it's what Man of steel and The Batman got after all, thought I wouldn't be surprised with any of the numbers lower than 3. (0,1 or 2 obviously not negative numbers)

Given the context of the story that inaction might prove a dangerous weapon.

I am wondering if Lego might give us more minifigs from either the Tim Burton or BTAS lines in the coming years? I'm a minifig collector and would really like more characters featured (and I know there are really just a few for Burton's).

Well. Gold Lanterns exist already. So I thought it was only a matter of time.

When we getting Lethargic Lilac Lanterns?

We can only hope :shrug_oh_well: The two BTAS sets this year were a good start, but there‘s so much more they could do! As for the Burton films, both of them have been covered rather well, not sure what else they could do (sure, the Batski, but nothing new in terms of minifigs).

As I’ve been saying for a while, the two Schumacher films also have a lot of set potential, but I‘m not sure if TLG would want to take the risk since the opinions on them are very divided, especially B&R :laugh_hard: Sets based on them could easily be shelfwarmers.

2012. I had a genius idea for a Lantern Corps: Gold Lanterns of Unity.

Fast-Forward 8-10 years...

I coulda had royalties, man!

Spoiler

Sorrow Corps sounds like a bombastic idea, tbh. Can you imagine a Blackest Night-level event powered by grief? Please keep that ring away from Bats!

I like how well-thought out these are, particularly the minifig designs. What does the Legend Armor look like?

Thanks! Congratulations for making it to Count-hood. Just don’t join the separatists.

I was thinking the Legend Armour would take inspiration from Maximus’ armour from Gladiator and Achilles’ armour in Troy but with the recognisable touches, colour accents and symbols of the heroes. Basically the Legend Armour would seem quite Roman gladiatorial whilst maintaining a vibe of Greek mythology.

Wally West specifically would take inspiration from Perseus as he was able to defeat Medusa and other monsters through lightning fast attacks thanks to his specialised feet (winged sandals).

And then there’s Kyle. He has Samurai Armour instead of Greek/ Roman armour because A) He has an action figure with samurai armour, B) He’s the GL that is most creative and thinks outside the box, and most importantly C) He canonically is a anime nerd.

Just you guys wait until I get to the season 5 wave.

Interesting. I figured it'd be Olympian-inspired. Will we get a reference to Wonder Woman's "Pantheon" line from Justice League War?

Wish we could get a Diorama of Bane and Batman's first fight in TDKR, plenty of things they could do, I don't know what's stopping them.

Joker Mech ($14.99): Joker from the juniors set

Superman Tie-in ($37.99): Superman, Lex Luthor

Batmobile vs The Joker ($79.99): Batmobile with Batman (new generic comic design with the newer cowl) and Joker (new generic comic design)

Kidding of course- the $37.99 set is clearly Batman vs the Joker (4+): A bat-cycle and Joker-cycle.

In all seriousness, If I had to bet/guess on the 4 sets coming out in January, I feel like they would be:

Superman Mech

4+ Batcave expansion with Robin Motorcycle

BTAS Batwing

Buildable Batman symbol

I'd be totally surprised if we get any non-Batman sets besides a Superman mech in January.

Ironically a new Robin minifigure would be an absolute win.

I wish Lego would just make the BTAS designs the standard for all Batman sets going forward. We hardly get any character variety with the comic versions anymore and the designs they've been using lately are super generic anyway. I would've had bought the 4+ Batcave had it included the BTAS versions of Joker and Batgirl in it.

The Batski is the only thing left I want from the Burton films. Once they release that I'm happy to move on from those films altogether. While it wouldn't offer anything new in terms of minifigures it would still be nice having Catwoman and Penguin available in an affordable set instead of being locked behind the Shadowbox's massive paywall. Could be a good opportunity to upgrade Catwoman with some leg printing too.

As for the Schumacher films I don't think they would be that big a risk. As divisive as they were there are still many fans who have plenty of nostalgia for them. The Funko Pop and DC Direct figures surprisingly sold quite well. Kids probably wouldn't be too fussed about them and are happy just to get a new Batmobile with some cool Batman characters in it.

3-4 sets does sound plausible (mostly because 11 Marvel sets in a single wave would be overkill, so some of them kinda have to be DC). Who‘s the source though? I don‘t think any of the usual suspects have confirmed that yet :shrug_oh_well:

Fair point, kids wouldn‘t care  The villain designs especially are wacky and colourful, so kids would likely be interested without necessarily being familiar with the films they‘re from :classic:

I'm pretty sure we'll get more BTAS sets, it could even allow us to get new versions of Two-Face, Ivy, and the like. It could also segue into DCAU sets on the whole (which would be awesome, Vigilante and Question minifigs when?)

I'll echo everyone and say one of the 4 sets is an Animated Series Batwing, starring Batman, Robin, and Poison Ivy.

I actually doubt that we'll get any villain mechs (maybe Bane?), so two surprise sets. Maybe a 4+ set? But I'd also argue Superman sets (if we get any) are unlikely to be included in the January wave. Much more likely to release in March or April, closer to the film's release date.
