Wizarding World 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Recommended Posts

Hi all!  I was in this public in 2020, and then I watched everything that was happening because I forgot the password to my account.  The sets are amazing, but I don’t know what to say about Hogwarts.  Will I buy new castle sets or not... The figures are definitely, but the buildings themselves... I just recently finished my large homemade project.  Combined all Hogwarts 2018-2023 sets, including books.  Of course, I had to order the parts separately, since there weren’t enough roofs.  But the result came out superb.  I'm proud of my castle.  I can show you photos.

I believe I'm counting 6 new wand moulds in the picture where you can see the inside of Ollivanders *oh2*. Which means we get 4 of each mould in 2 different colours :excited:

I think the red and green capes on display in the new Madam Malkins may be a reference to the same 2 capes in 4719 quality quidditch supplies which came out in 2003.

The point is to move modules in and out though, so there will be sets released that are just modules and quite possibly sets with some empty space to attach them, it's how the system is supposed to work.

If there are more modules than spaces for them to go, better than too many spaces and not enough modules :classic:

Then this is just a poor module system imo.

If you can't display the whole "most detailed Hogwarts Castle yet" together, then what's even the point?

Doesn't bother me :shrug_oh_well:

The blurry outline we got with the most detailed claim only shower the parts of the castle features in the UCS Hogwarts set. I hope we're getting other key parts in this series though.

It is the most detailed just look at Hagrid's hut, the potion class and boat house and compare it to the last waves where big parts of wall structure were panels with a sticker at best. The most complete will probably allways stay the micro scale one.

I am pretty sure the Toilet, hallway and common roomare place holders. They are too bad compared to everything else.

How would the troll bathroom be a placeholder? Since this set includes the troll (and that probably gobbled up a large part of their budget!), why wouldn't you want to display it in its element? This is the only room where the troll's presence makes sense. I guess they could eventually relase another, more detailed bathroom, but then you'd have two trolls. Or do you mean that they'll eventually release a more detailed bathroom without the troll - a set that only makes sense for those who have the Great Hall? 'Cause I really can't see that.

The same for the Hufflepuff common room - why would they go to the trouble of including the Hufflepuff house ghost if they were already planning on releasing another, more detailed Hufflepuff common room?

To me, it looks more like the designers weren't talking to each other. Like in the previous system where they couldn't agree on a consistent colour for windows (the Hospital Wing's white windows really stand out), or the system before that where they used those butt-ugly white doorframes instead of tan ones for the Astronomy tower and no other set. Presumably, here, someone was told to make a EUR 40 Potions Class module with such-and-such dimensions, but the design for the modules that came with the Great Hall happens to be way different.

Does the Troll big fig even fit inside the bathroom? They could combine the bathrooms from ps, cos and gof in one pretty moduleof do you want 3 Bathrooms?

Well... because lots of people will buy another (better) common room. I wasn't aware the house ghost must appear in common room sets. They have 3 very special figures- Troll, vector, friar -in the Great hall. That will sell the set even with all its flaws. Buthaving just 3 big holes below the Hall  would probably been too lazy for too many customers. Than people will buy expensions.

Much as I like the idea of a Hogwarts Bathrooms Expansion Pack (TM), I really cannot see it.

I didn't say that the house ghost must appear in common room sets. I merely said that the Fat Friar, as a figure we've never had before, would have been the main draw for a Hufflepuff common room set. We've already had Sprout and enough Hufflepuff students that they're down to very obscure characters (such as Leanne Nolastname) for new faces. So the fact that the Fat Friar is included in the Great Hall set tells me that they're not planning on releasing a separate common room set, at least not one targeted at people who already own the Great Hall. Sorry if that was unclear!

The same with the troll. Whether it fits into the tiny module isn't even relevant to me; the main reason anyone would buy a troll bathroom module is the troll, and since they've included it in the Great Hall set, that tells me they're not planning on releasing a separate module with the same troll targeted at Great Hall buyers. Bathrooms aren't exactly hard to MOC, and the Polyjuice Potions Mistake set the bar really high in that regard and would probably be easy to adapt to the new module sizes. So I don't think they'll focus a lot on bathrooms with the new system.

Also, they're claiming that this is going to be the most detailed Hogwarts ever. Judging from the modules we've had so far, the detail quality of the individual modules is quite underwhelming. I think, therefore, what they mean is that this Hogwarts will provide the most locations we haven't had before, at least not in a Hogwarts system, such as the Hufflepuff common room (only before done in Banners form). So I'd expect them to focus on giving us a lot of new locations, either ones that have never been done (such as the kitchens) or ones that haven't been part of a Hogwarts system (such as Transfiguration class which we've only had in a Moments book). I wouldn't expect them to take up valuable slots with repeats (i.e. another, better Hufflepuff common room or troll bathroom for the current system) and I also wouldn't expect much in terms of quality from the individual modules. Otherwise this "most detailed Hogwarts" system is going to take ages to complete. (And we know that the next, 2027, system is probably already being designed.)

However, I agree with you that they'll give us something to replace those ugly starter modules with - I just don't think they'll give us the same things. For example: The Slytherin common room is canonically in the dungeons, and the Slytherin house ghost is a much-wanted minifig we've never had. I can therefore see them doing a Slytherin common room as a stand-alone, like the Potions class, which you could replace the Hufflepuff common room with. That would be a likely set idea for next year, in fact, since we've started the new system with PS/SS, so presumably CoS is next, and the Slytherin common room plays a fairly important role in that story.

Brick Clicker has a new video out. At 5:11, it shows a back of the box pic of the Great Hall. You can see where to attach the Boathouse, and also that the bases of the troll bathroom and Hufflepuff commom room split in two (or actually in three, since the back walls remain). It still makes for a crappy and overpriced display set but it's not terribly designed as an, again way overpriced, play set.

Due to my visual impatience, I could not tell if that troll is purely bigfig or just buildable?

I keep looking over the photos of the Durmstrang Ship and I’m just so in love….Like I knew it was going to be good but this just blows my mind every time I see it.

Right?! It’s my favourite set of this wave! The shaping and colours are just perfect, and it‘s impressive how they managed to capture all those crooked angles! The minifigs are fantastic too

Also, interesting to have a set without a single main character, especially at this price point! Even the previous Beauxbatons carriage still included Hagrid

It’s grea to see a troll as a bigfig! I have no intention to buy the new Great Hall set but I will chase after that troll.

As fo the ship, I might plan to buy that one.

I'm a Castle guy, I don't collect HP sets but I will buy this set for sure! With a few modifications, it will make a perfect ship for the Lion Knights or for my conquistadors. And you get a white horse also ! :classic:

Brick Clicker has confirmed that the retro radio will have a sound brick. That's 906 pieces including a sound brick for EUR 110, and presumably a decent subject and design to go with it.

Like I've said, can anyone explain the Sorting Hat's pricing? All that comes to mind is that they've designed the sound brick specifically for HP so HP had to budget for a new part and all the other themes get it as an existing part for cheaper. But that makes no real sense given how close the sets are to each other in terms of release, and also why then would the sound brick be lavender of all colours and not reddish brown?

Cheesey Studios has a video showing off the new Arrival set (ship and carriage).

It would seem that it uses a lot of stickers, which is a bit disapointing, especially for the shields.

It does look like an amazing display piece though.

I like the new system, although it looks like it won’t include the clock or astronomy towers unless they keep it going for 5 years+, where other waves have only had a 3 year plan I think before a reboot.
I don’t see the problem with the way the potions classroom was done, it means those scenes and characters are accessible for young families with smaller budgets and get lots of extra detail and parts. I love the way the classroom folds up so tidy and gets stored away underground, it’s like the Great Hall becomes a toy box when not in use.

I had a thought today about the Great Hall architecture, and wanted to see what everyone else thought:

In the movies we see that the hall space is very wide and has the big tall windows etc, see here from one of the studio theme parks:

tokyo-the-great-hall-unveiled-warner-bro

Compare that to this external of the building:

Great Hall Exterior

It looks like the ‘floor’ of the great hall itself is above the lower row of windows, inline with the detail in the stone where snow is settling. So question is are all those lower windows looking into the kitchen? And would the Hufflepuff common room be below that inside the rock foundation/basement of the Hall?

Interesting point of view. If proportions of the blurred image of Hogwarts castle are true, the Great Hall won't be the biggest set, comparing to the the big tower. Or maybe other castle segments will be combined from different sets, like rocky base plus ground flour will be one set, first floor and top floor will be other set.

Yeah, that's right, the kitchens are in the lower level windows as far as we know. Also the Great Hall is the nine windows on the left hand side - the large window shows where the Entrance Hall is.
