Best they can do is black leather Wolverine.

I kid you not, I really dislike the first one. No, I don't understand it either.

There’s a subtle distinction you are missing. When I was a kid I had heard of Freddy Krueger sure, but I hadn’t seen any of the movies and I didn’t have a connection to the character where I would have wanted to ask my parents to buy me a toy based on him. Hypothetically, if Lego had made a Freddy Krueger toy back then, I’m sure there would have been some of the more edge-lordy kids wanting it because they knew it was forbidden, but would it have outperformed the Phantom Menace sets that were coming out at the time? Children want toys based on characters they know and love from watching them on screen. I’m sure lots of kids have heard of Deadpool but they don’t know him well enough to want a toy.

Also just to reiterate, I’m talking about children, not teens.

Now, that's a way more sensible point you are making.

I do agree that small kids dont have a deep connection to the character, but if I am being honest I don't think that really matters.

Like, to put it in plain terms: Deadpool goes hard. He looks cool, he wears a sick suit and dual wielding katanas. If you ask me, that's more than enough for a kid to want a toy based on him.

Would a horror movie villain have outpreformed star wars at one of it's most hyped-up points in it's entire lifespan? I think you may be the one missing a distinction there.

I think it's a pretty inapplicable anecdote anyway. For one thing, it's not like kids these days don't buy horror-related stuff- shelves by the lego/transformers/hasbro aisle have had large amounts of Five Nights at Freddies merch, or other horror things like something called poppy playtime. Now that's different than Freddy Krueger. But so is deadpool. He's a superhero. He makes constant jokes and has guns and swords and stuff. Kids might not know that he hates himself, or that his power comes from experiments in a horrific program, or that he suffers from cancer. But they sure as hell see funny joke superhero with cool weapons in games, in other merch, in ads, etc.

It's more likely they make a movie-esque design because they can get away with slipping him into an unrelated set a lot easier and just claim it's a generic wolverine, but I'd still call that a long shot, and there certainly won't be anything officially based on the film. Which is a shame- a Wolverine with the cowl up in navy blue instead of black would be a great addition to an oscorp modular.

Deadpool 2 is easily my favourite one. The first one is good for what it is imo, but it doesn't go anywhere beyond that.

The second one, on the other hand, is pretty great. I love the story, character development, the whole squad Deadpool takes along for the ride. The action sequences are great too, I'm a huge David Leitch fan.

EXACTLY. Kids aren't going "I want a deadpool figure because I found his connection to Logan's story to be very thought provoking". They're going "haha this guy is a superhero but he makes a lot of crazy jokes in the stuff I've seen him in, and he has a cool suit and swords and guns."

Some people really underestimate how popular Deadpool is with kids just because his movies are R-rated.

You don't actually need to see a Spider-Man movie to actively want Spider-Man toys. I actually saw Spider-Man (first CBM I've ever seen) because I was interested in the toys.

Deadpool is cool. Kids love him because he's cool, not because they've seen him in a movie. Seeing him in a movie makes one more attached to a character, but it's not always the reason they're intersted in it in the first place.

Not to mention that a lot of countries don't have strict rating rules like the USA. I've seen Deadpool as a 12 year old, and I've been aware of him long before that—for example, because of the LEGO set, or the Ultimate Spider-Man TV series.

Well I’ve made my points, I won’t belabour them.

I think we can safely say TLG will have put more effort into figuring out what children will or won’t ask their parents to buy them than anyone on this forum. I’ll leave it there.

I mean, even not thinking about kids - there are 18+ sets that are marketed basically entirely towards adults.

They could quite easily do something like slip Deadpool into an 18+ set around now (one of the 'helmet' sets?) to capitalise on the movie.

They didn't, so the problem is more likely the character himself and not how much interest there is in him.

And if course this isn't substitute for actually market research, but anecdotally, I had the 2012 chopper set as a kid and immediately took to Deadpool, despite having not really seen him in anything. Just a cool looking character. I also remember the movie coming out and being popular amongst kids who weren't actually gonna watch it. 'Adult' stuff is often really captivating to kids (see the amount of younger teens who really wanna play Grand Theft Auto)

Another Endgame set is allegedly coming, this one being based on the portals scene. The only rumoured minifig is Iron Spider, the other 7-8 are unknown. The source is exabricks again :classic:

…would it kill them to release ONE Infinity Saga set with a new character again?! :laugh_hard: Granted, they could include Kraglin here, but how likely is that

I will add that he said Iron Spider is a new minifigure/new version/update

Iron Spider getting an update is great. I'd love to see the Iron Patriot MK2 and maybe the Ronin suit also here, it's about time we get both!

Iron Man MK85 and Scarlet Witch feel like easy reuses to me, maybe Thor and Cap too if they still have those prints around.

Edit: A new Rescue figure would be great too

Am I the only one tired of the endless Endgame final battle sets? My own opinions on Endgame aside (I don’t like it), it’s just a bunch of characters fighting in a big gray crater. It’s not that interesting visually and we keep getting repeats of the same characters. There’s so much else they could be doing with the Infinity Saga line, much less the theme as a whole.

Definitely agree. I'm pleased with this if it means we get the missing characters from that movie... but I would be happy with any of the million 'Endgame final battle' sets being the last Endgame final battle set if any of those did that.

The 2021 set was fair enough to actually get a solid Thanos and to get the main characters in their actual outfits. Past that we just really needed Ronin, Iron Patriot, maybe Nebula

They just keep not making anyone new, which is the frustrating part.

At least this one should be more visually interesting, I like how the portal scene looks a lot.

How? What media are they consuming with Deadpool in? I understand there will be some who read comics and some who have watched the films but I’m talking about the majority of kids.

Yes the game did release before the rated R film, but my nephew knows Deadpool from playing LEGO Marvel Superheroes. Plus he (as well as many other character skins from films and shows that probably shouldn't be shown to children) is in Fortnite

Seems to be such an unpopular opinion, I don't see many people preferring the second film, but I also do. I loved all the trailers hyping up X-Force, just for... gravity to kick in...

Weird to think we've only had the one MCU Iron Spider, so it's nice to see it back. Hoping theres a chance it could be reused for a NWH bridge battle with Green Goblin

Praying we get Gamora, Iron Patriot and Ronin over more repeats. Other characters that haven't shown up in any Legacy Endgame sets yet are Ant Man (minifigure), Nebula, Drax (could just be a Milano reuse with new legs, maybe an angry expression), Winter Soldier/White Wolf (only seen in the Toys-R-Us pack) and M'Baku (not a major priority, but we've not had his original suit)

Set also ideally needs villains, so maybe a new Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive or Cull Obsidian instead of more Chitauri or Outriders

Yeah- we might not get new characters so to speak, but we've got a good chance at suits people have been asking for since the movie came out.

I'd also love a navy blue Rescue. I just don't see that suit as purple in the movie.

To be fair, it's the climax of one of the single biggest movies ever made. It's pretty much always going to sell, so it's pretty much always going to get sets.

I think I’m the one person in existence who likes Rescue being LEGO purple. It registers as purple to me in promotional images, while the scene in the movie is too dark to tell.

Obviously, Royal violet (or whatever colour 2002 Jango used) would be the best choice. Honestly, just bring that colour back period; it’s more useful than medium azure vs bright light blue.

I bought the 2021 Endgame set, and said no thanks to the 2023 one, but one with Iron Spider might sell it for me.

I never understood why the 2023 set wasn’t the portal scene anyway. Nevertheless, here we are with yet another, and this one sounds like it has promise already. Maybe we can get an updated IW Strange, enhanced Black Panther with leg printing, a new Rescue with the 2022 helmet, Batman in his Endgame attire, and Star-Lord from the Benatar? At least half of those figs would guarantee a purchase from me.

Ah yes. My favourite Marvel hero. Batman.

I really enjoyed the scene in endgame where he used the infinity gauntlet to wipe his cowl’s ears from existence, becoming his ultimate form.

You all know what it is.

I'm gonna say it — genuinely the most fun movie I've ever seen in theatres, along with Dungeons & Dragons: Honor among Thieves

I love this movie so so much. I was surprised the reviews were generally mixed.

Exactly - I loved Deadpool way before seeing his movies mainly because of his role in the first Lego marvel game

For the Endgame set, exabricks said there will be 7/8 minifigs which I could see being gamora, nebula and star lord (to make the scene when they reunite), iron patriot, ronin and maybe ant man and wasp as well as iron spider

That's fine, but we did get an actual purple rescue. Not bad to get a navy blue one now.

A true moment of character development for Man, agreed. I also love the moment when he told Tony, “Iron Man sucks.” Makes Tony’s sacrifice so believable.

True, true. The helmet from that 2019 minifig needs work, but I wouldn’t mind a dark blue minifig for variety in this case.

👏 Brilliant.
