I don’t know this for a fact but I’m guessing the reason we’ve never got spider-verse tie-in sets before is because it would require a separate license with Sony. Assuming that hasn’t changed this will more likely be spider-verse adjacent rather than a direct interpretation of scenes from the movie.

Excited to get a new Ultron in such a cheap set, hope it’s a bit more comic-based as the mech figures tend to be.

I will accept either movie or comic version, but PLEASE let Spider Punk be in this set!!!🤞

Anti Venom is a massive win, we've finally decided to do something else with Venom after 6 years

I like that the $15 mechs now include a second Minifig - Hopefully Ultron is MCU-based! "Venom's Venomized Car" is the most LEGO Marvel set ever, but Anti-Venom is a nice change of pace; also, we finally get a Spider-Verse set! The only characters mentioned are Miles and The Spot, but a $40 set would probably include a few more Minifigs; Gwen is the most likely, but there is also a good chance that we get 2099 (or another member of the Spider-Society).
I am not sure what "Iron Man Cars and Black Panther" would look like, but it sounds like a Spidey and his Amazing Friends set; also, given the price, I assume that Red Hulk will be a Minifig (which is honestly fine, since we are getting a proper Bigfig one in the CA:BNW set, and he would pair well with the Minifig Hulks that we have gotten before).

Spider-Man 2099's Flying Car? 😈

Don't speak it into existence 😂

Bit underwhelming I guess. Kinda hoped we'd get more of a second half of the AoU theme, sure we've had enough Hulkbusters for a while, but it would have been nice to see more sets based on the aspects we've not recieved in ages. Maybe we'll get them in Summer but giving us the Civil War Airport Battle set in January feels like closing the door on AoU. I'd hope the Iron Man mech set with Ultron is the Ultimate Ultron from AoU, would be nice to have an updated version - could easily be based on comics though (not seen anyone state it as a movie-verse version yet)

It's neat we're getting something other than just normal venom and venomized by getting anti-venom, maybe the popularity of the playstation games helped in that regard. I think it'd have been fun to give us the five symbiotes, the wacky colour schemes could help make the Venomized sets more interesting.

May pick up the Ultron figure but not really much that I'm invested in for January, suppose it'll give more time to save up for the later waves.

Just throwing out there, these 3 Spider Man sets provide guaranteed new figures (at least between Anti Venom and Spot)... Could this mean just as I've theorised in the past that we're seeing new figures to be used in an Oscorp D2C??

Maybe, or maybe they are just now catching on that we want more Spidey villains than just Venom and Venomized variants!

Or they realized they’re running out of villains to Venomize. 😁

Glad we're finally getting some new Spider-Man characters. Its also nice to be getting Ultron in a set again. No idea if he'll be based on the comics or MCU but I'm happy to have either version,

Disappointed there's no sign of the X-Men. Maybe something might come up in the August wave or a third CMF series but I'm not holding my breath.

Its only 2 (potentially 3) new minifigures. I'm not going to read too much into it just yet. I'm still leaning towards either Superman or Fantastic Four getting the D2C spot as they are going to be the two main headliners for the superhero genre next year. At the moment there's just nothing to indicate an Oscorp set is even on the table outside of wishful thinking.

According to @Brick Clicker

76307 Iron Man Mech vs. Ultron / $14.99
76308 Spider-Man Mech vs. Anti-Venom / $14.99
76309 Spider-Man vs. Venom's Venomized Car / $29.99
76310 Iron Man Cars and Black Panther vs. Red Hulk / $34.99
76311 Spider-Verse: Miles Morales vs. The Spot / $39.99
76313 Buildable Marvel Logo / $99.99
76314 Civil War Airport Battle / $99.99

1: Solid. I bought the last two iron man mechs and will probably get this, I just like collecting the suits

2: Also solid. If the anti-venom figure is great and it's a new spidey design, I might pick it up.

3: This is becoming the ninjago car/mech/jet trope. Hope there's a new figure because that lends possibility to an Oscorp.

4: This concerns me that the Cap 4 set is cancelled. However, a $35 set with two cars, two figures, and a big fig seems suspiciously well priced, so it might be a minifig red hulk.

5: Awesome. Hope they really do look like the movie versions.

6:

7: Probably the only non $15 set here I'm gonna get. I like these black base dioramas and love civil war so it's a good combo for me.

I've said before this is the hint that more is coming. If the Venomized set has a new character, and if it's a new Spidey design, I think the way is clear. I don't think it means we'll get one, but it means there is a path towards one if lego has chosen to take it.

I actually had the thought too that the cap 4 set could be cancelled, why would they release 2 sets around the same time with potentially the same minifig? I hope otherwise but I am worried

Given the track record of the mechs Ultron is probably comics based. Also with Anti-Venom being in the set it would make sense if Spider-Man had the symbiote suit but I wouldn’t hold my breath for that

Such a weird wave. The minifigures sound fantastic — some new variants of Spider-Man and Iron Man perhaps, new Ultron, Anti-Venom, comicbook Red Hulk, Spot, updated Civil War variants. Two new characters is huge for a single non-MCU LEGO Marvel wave.

But the builds? Mech, mech, car, car, [I hope not a car or I'll lose my goddamn sanity], a... logo? and hopefully a diorama [probably a Quinjet tho]. When did LEGO Marvel become so boring...

Now for the set that made my heart burst right out of my chest — SPIDER-VERSE?! Now, it's too late to keep my excitement in check. Already hyped, too late. Realistically speaking, I don't think it's actually based on ATSV — I would die a happy man if it was tho. I just hope it's not another Spider-Man car. If it's not based on the movie, I hope I can at least display it as something reminiscent of it, so a location build.

Good point that’s logical, although they are making a Superman mech vs Lex Luthor rather than a Lex Luthor mech vs Superman so I don’t think we can count on logic.

A symbiote suit spidey mech might be too similar to the recent Venom mech, although that wouldn’t necessarily stop them making it.

Ahoy!!

I'm much more of a DC guy... But a potential set based on the spider verse films has my interest 🤩🤩🤩.

Of course I might be wrong, but including „Spiderverse“ in the name of the set is a strong indicator for it being based on ATSV :sweet: Sure, the term exists outside the movies, but that‘s what people think of when they hear it. Kinda false advertising, if it‘s based on the comics  It‘d be like slapping the name „Infinity War“‘ on the box of a comic-based set. Technically not a lie, but not what most people would associate with the name.

Do you think there is a chance to get a Symbiote Spider-Man minifigure?

The Marvel sets are mostly Mechs and Cars via Brickclicker, I have a headache now reading the list, I'M SICK OF MECHS AND CARS.

Never thought I'd see the day but the DC January wave makes me more sane than seeing these Mechs and Cars for the Marvel wave

I'm going to hire someone to trackdown everyone who has bought all these Cars and Mechs every single wave they're made, consider yourself an Opp if you have funded this subline

there going through a speed Champions Superhero phase, reminds me of the Jada car model displays. I'm sure these will all look great if collected as a whole and displayed on the shelf with the new logo set coming as well.

DC released 3 sets in summer last year with 2 of the exact same figures (though Joker had different hair/a hat in each set and Batman had a different face in one)

I imagine maybe Red Hulk will keep the same body, but use different heads between MCU and comics. Knowing how he is in comics it would probably be a cocky smirking face

Could be a loose adaptation type set, using multiple Spider Man variants against Spot, but not using the movie designs. Depends if Sony's playing friendly with the merchandise licencing, and if they are then fingers crossed we can get SP//dr, Prowler and maybe BTSV sets down the line

If it's an actual ATSV set, the day I see it will be the most beautiful day of my life.

Not to mention that would probably mean we'd be getting a whole wave for BTSV.

if it is movie based, what do you think the build could be? I'm leaning towards a small bodega build with an atm. Something similar in size to the ATM Heist Battle from 2017

That’d be hilarious! Love that scene :laugh_hard:

The Spiderverse movies have so much potential, it’d be a waste not to do anything with them! Granted, it needs to be worth the additional licensing costs* to them :shrug_oh_well:

*If those are a thing in the first place. Some have correctly pointed out that Disney has the merchandise rights as part of the deal between them and Sony, but we don’t know any details. Then again, if TLG had easy access to the rights all along, it’s weird they’ve never to tried to cash in on the hype apart from indirect comic-based tie-in sets.

If they want to make the set fully accurate to the movie, then we have two options — the NYC scene, or the Mumbattan scene. Since the set is 40€, I believe there have to be at least 3 minifigures in it.

If it's the first one, I think it would include a small bodega with an ATM machine (), a PDNY car and maybe some street furniture (e.g. traffic lights). The minifigures would be Miles Morales, the Spot and Jefferson Davis. (Man, that sounds so good.)

They could also try making the ruined particle collider with some scaffolding, alas it'd be much less exciting and play-oriented.

If it's the latter one, the build potential for a 40€ set isn't as big. The build could be a bus, some random car with street furniture, a small section of a bridge, or even the lab with the particle collider. The minifigure potential, on the other hand, is much greater. Worst case scenario (which is already great) — Miles, Gwen and the Spot. Best case scenario — add Hobie and Pavitr.

Obviously, they could also make some weird mash-up — for example the Nueva York train with Miles, Miguel and the Spot or whatever. I don't think that'd happen if it really is an AtSV set tho.

I just hope it's not another Miles Morales car or some other crap. If it's not an actual AtSV set, at least make it similar enough to pose as one (that is to say, just use NYC as the base for the build — no wacky vehicles).

Although, if done well, a vehicle for the Spot could be executed rather uniquely (not that I want it, that's the worst still-acceptable set kind of scenario).

Wow, that's a lot of Spider-Man content, once again
Lots of diversity regarding source material and villains though, this time.

I kinda like the sound of that Iron Man Cars & Black Panther vs. Red Hulk set :sweet:

Sadly nothing involving X-Men, but maybe later next year.

Mitch
