Nah, I‘m good. If you want a minifig of hers, just take a Black Widow minifig, give her Mace‘s lightsaber, et voilà

Even outside of my general issue of this (like the 2019 version) failing to really capture the original set or what certain parts of it represented (I HATE the dark blue, the only reason the OG used blue was because that color was used on TIE Fighters at the time), the shape is so funky, the overwhelming amount of brown makes it look rusty, and it's funny how every version of this craft removes another seat from the troop transport.

The 2019 version is good, and a faithful update of the original (to include a Shadow Trooper!). Instead of QT-KT, we should have gotten Rebel Friend as the anniversary Minifig, and an updated Shadow Trooper in the new Stormie style.

I can't find whatever better images of the set you've found, but your view on the dropship concerns me. They did such a good job in 2019 with that year's update, I'm sad to hear they've dropped the ball this year.

And talking about diversity, some in-universe diversity could have worked if they given us a non-human rebel too. That would have been cool.

The issue with Fleet Troopers is that either LEGO could go with non-Humans that can be represented with printed heads (Duros, Nikto, Weequay, etc) and put a chinstrap on them (which restricts their reusability), or they could scrap the helmet in order to include an alien with a moulded head (Rodian, et al). Both options suck, so I would rather get Human Fleet Troopers and just customise them with extra Duros and Rodian heads from the old BF2 pack.
We do need more (and more affordable) alien heads, however! Something like a Jabba’s Palace pack with a Rodian, Gran, Quarren, and maybe Nikto (or other guard species) would be perfect!

I have just built my first Star Wars set. 77904 Nebulon-B Frigate. I've only seen some of the Star Wars movies once. I don't remember this ship from any of them. But it looks really cool. I didn't try to buy it when it was released with all the limited release stuff going on, but I admired it. I recently realized that you could get pretty much everything from PIck a Brick, and I just needed two parts to be a slightly different colour from the original (just a different shade of grey), so got all the parts for about $50. (I don't need the expensive sticker).

Wow, what a build. Pretty much the entire process was incredible. Such clever use of parts, positioning, geometry, and all in an elegant and efficient way. It was a real joy, which is pretty incredible for something that's 90% grey parts!

You may all be onto something if the builds are this good. Might have to look into some of the retail midi-scale ships now. Any recommendations?

It's probably worth giving some of the movies another shot to see if any of the designs or characters stand out to you.

And if you liked the Nebulon-B set, you could take a look at the Starship Collection line of similar midi-scale ships that started recently.

For those who bought the Star Destroyer what are your thoughts on it?

I’ve seen it on sale (only a 10%) been debating whether to get it. Honestly I want the set mainly for Cal, but I can’t bring myself to spend £75 on a minifigure alone.

ive also never owned a star destroyer set before so would be nice to get one but I’m not sure what the odds are of a bigger sale in the near future

Patience, I'm sure the price of Cal will go down, he hasn't even had an official listing on Bricklink yet!

There will absolutely be a better sale before retirement, even 2x VIP points will get you essentially the same discount.

I do have the Star Destroyer, nothing about it is particularly groundbreaking, but it looks nice and is extremely well put together. I mostly use it like a display model so if you like what you see you will enjoy it

It's currently available on Amazon at 15% off (£127.47!) if you want to buy it asap.

Unfortunately it's an Amazon exclusive and I doubt that it will be much lower in the short term; it might be available as a special deal nearer to Black Friday but there's no guarantee.  If you're looking for a lower (net) cost, I'd suggest purchasing it direct from LEGO when there's a decent promo available.  Most of the higher-end ones will sell for £30+ and you'll also get 5% (or possibly 10%) back in VIP points.  You might get lucky with some cashback as well - although it's never worked for me!

It looks significantly over-priced in my opinion, but that seems to be a common trend with the newer sets :look:

Im getting really impatient or the reveal of this set to manage my finances. Its a ? 500Eur ? set so planning for such spending would be needed while lego is not the only hobby im spending my money.

I would say i am the target audience for this set as im a SW fan and i like minifig scaled UCS sets. I skipped most of the oversized vehicles like the last TIE Interceptor (have only the 2nd edition X-W and TIE Fighter). But the last minifig scaled UCS that was worth the money was Slave 1. I did not purchased the 800e AT-AT because the minifigs are lackluster and not unique. Although im building the model from my own bricks in DBG color (to represent Blizzard 2 with reinforced hull i know from decipher SW CCG card game) and i plan to build another one in the standard LBG color. So the model was OK, but overal the product was not worth the money. Also the Razor Crest was a model i was initially very excited as i love Mando s1&2 and also the ship design. But again, the final product was not worth the asking price of 600eur because of lack of more good minifigs (a Gideon, improved Cara Dune, maybe some special imperial trooper or other unique character), no molded blurg and a bad cockpit (should be new piece, or the middle piece should be a new one - actually there exist one already - they just needed to make a new one of just 2 studs wide) - i purchased the set later for 400eur which was more acceptable price to compensate its minuses

So again now, its a minifig scaled UCS for a vehicle i like and even wanted to build an UCS version of it by myself. I have both of the previous small versions. So far im not convinced to buy it by the reports of not enough minifigs, disaster with the eyes presented on the leaked Salacious Crumb and problematic Slave Leia fig (im lucky i have all the previous versions)

My conditions to buy this set (else i just build it based on the free instructions):

1) detailed and in scale model based on the crossection published in the book (AT-AT managed to do it well)

2) at least 15 new interesting minifigs - its kind of a playset, so it should have many of the characters that were on the barge - there was also a quarren for example (Tessek) - quarren head is already there, many of the niktos, weequays, klatoonians. Maybe a new Bosk this time with dual molded arms and legs and print on them to better reflect the real character look - maybe use long body type ? Maybe Sealt-Marae (Yak face). Would love to see those 3 dancers from special edition although im not sure they were present on the barge Figures are key for a new SW set. As many SW collectors already have tons of sets and spare bricks - new molds and minifigs are the reason to buy sets. Else i can build the models from my own bricks.

3) Slave Leia wont have "pants" as depicted in the video game where they used doublemolded legs - she should look similar to the previous version

4) the sails will be cloth/plastic and not brickbuild - previous clothes / plastic worked fine, brickbuild would be unnecessary ugly and add more piece count. Just do it as in the previous set just bigger and sturdier.

5) use minimum stickers - its an UCS, 4+ sets are fully printed so why dont we get it in premium priced big sets ? the windows on the side previously as stickers should be definitely printed (if not brickbuid design is not used maybe with the grills)  But if they manage to put more minigifs instead of use printed bricks im fine trading this.

6) Jabba wont have bad looking eyes - i own 2pcs of the previous version which was great so either make it even better or just reuse it as it was (im sed they did not reused the mold for more hutt figures - Gardula or the purple hutt - such a waste of a mold)

So lets see if they will met my conditions and i would buy this set day 1 directly from lego or i will skip it and just use the instructions to build my own if at least the model will be good.

Then if its perfect, my only concern will be where to display it as im running out of shelf space.

Yeah my conditions are pretty similar. I really hope it has a figure selection comparable to (and hopefully in excess of) the Mos Eisley Cantina, and that the model is as good as the AT-AT in terms of having an accurate interior to the cross-sections book.

Salacious Crumb looks terrible (as with all the glowy-eye figures like Ezra, Ahsoka, Hera, etc.) so I really hope none of the other figures in the set have those eyes, and I'm just glad I got Jabba's Palace with him in back in 2012 (it'd be a lot worse if this was the only version of Salacious; hopefully none of the figures which are new characters get ruined by those eyes). Might see how much he's worth to make a bit of money back if I do buy the set.

Not sure if unpopular but:

The current state of CMF collecting is...pretty good.

Scanner apps are way better than trying to feel through bags, which I was never good at. If people want specific figs, getting and using the app is doable. But it's just enough jumping through hoops that kids/and or casuals will still buy randomly.

I was able to get multiples of exactly what I wanted of the Space CMF easily with a scanner app, but never by feeling. Honestly if Lego was smart they would make their own scanner app and gamify it a little bit.

Hard agree! It's worked great for me!

Oh gods I'd not even thought about that. They better not mess up Jabba's eyes.

At this stage, we already have the leaked figure list - Jabba, Rebo, Salacious, Leia, 3PO, R2, Gamorrean, Klaatu, Bib, and one other alien.

If that the final list, then thats not enough to justify 500eur purchase if the model itself is not absolutely perfect and consist of like 50% of bricks that are in new color and thus i dont own.

Therefore i hope there will be much more. There is a rumor about a lightsaber promo which could realistically sell for 80-100eur but thats not enough - i can wait for the set to sell for 350 later as a direct discount.

Cantina and Cloud City had much more figs and also contained of a lot of bricks.

I saw a picture how it would look and it was awful. Im therefore lucky i own 2 Jabbas (and also 2 of the first versions, but those are not used in MOC by me as i find them outdated)

About the QR code and apps for CMF.

It worked greatly for me for 25 and 26. I was able to find what i wanted so fast, much faster than with the feel method.
But its a double edged sword - it enabled scalpers who have no clue about lego to scalp for the Goat and Vampire knight - easy purchase for 3.5eur and sell for 8eur. In the past it was much more difficult for such scalpers to do it with feeling and spending 1h in the store to go through the box. Now its a matter of seconds and any kid with a smartphone can do it.
Its problematic when there are some outstanding/most wanted figures - like the goat hearder and vampire knight in 25. With 26 i dont feel there was one particular to hoard so i was able to hoard ice planes and  m-trons for myself :)
Also the packaging is terrible, because it super easy to open it - so a lot of boxes are open and stolen or in the better scenario just open.

It’s a fantastic set, even more so if you’ve never owned a Star Destroyer before. Just all around a great build.

Thats a boring selection. Nothing new at all. If true, compared to Mos Eisley which was atleast solid, even if not great. This is deficient.

Agreed. The only way I'd be happy with the rumoured minifigure selection is if they make a bunch of smaller sets from the scenes in the palace which each include a couple of unique guards. There are just so many that have never been made and can't easily be done with official parts.

E.g. a small set like the 76253 Guardians' Headquarters of Leia (as Boushh) unfreezing Han. Chuck in a couple guards, call it $20 and repeat for a few other minor scenes. Or even a battle pack with 4 guards and a microfighter-style skiff (speaking of skiffs, it's also ridiculous that there are no guards in the new set of that vehicle which, combined with the wrong Boba figure, makes that set's figure selection also pretty terrible, especially with the egregious price).

We had the Snowtroopers Battle Pack to fill the UCS AT-AT; the Khetanna needs something similar.

It should be alliterative... such as Syndicate Sunday, Jabba Jeudi, Hutt Hayne, Tattooine Tetárti, Sail barge Sobota, Sarlacc Salaasa, Desilijic Dienstag, gangster Getsuyōbi, Tiure (Aso) To'ona'i... I could go on.

A Jabba's thugs BP would be great, especially with a variety of alien species, and could be a nice pseudo-tie in to Outlaws as well.

A question for owners of the 2023 Tie Bomber:

How good is it? I’ve recently been contemplating buying it because I’d like to expand my imperial forces (and because it looks beautiful). I’ve also recently finished the Aftermath trilogy and have an urge to get Sloane. I’m on the edge.

But I also want to get the ISD and 1-2 Dropship + Speeders.

Should I wait for better deals? There’s a good one on Smyths rn for £42, but could the price lower further?

Love the bomber, my only complaints are the gap for the flick fire bombs (easy to mod a panel to cover them) and the opaque cockpit window (might also be fixable but less easy) but they aren't significant issues. I also have 2 of the original set from 2003 and this new one is the same size but sturdier and better in every way.

As for price, you can find it a bit cheaper on eBay. I got mine BNISB for £35. As great as it is I definitely wouldn't want to pay significantly more than that. (And yeah the Sloane figure is really nice to have)

The Bomber is fine with good figures like Sloane and the Droid (edit: I made a mistake and the Droid I mean is part of the below mentioned Tie Fighter).

I only can complain a little bit about the smaller size compared to the Tie Fighter 75300 and the cockpit window.

I thought it was odd they made the standard tie and tie bomber in a smaller scale and then made the new tie interceptor in scale with the 2018 solo tie fighter, I find the 2023 interceptor looks a bit weird next to the bomber.
