But, the white essentially are pupils. Yes, it's not biologically accurate, but it's LEGO.

Why not swap the white circle for black? That would solve some of the issue.

I, for one, actually like colored eyes, it provides more variety among heads, but Crumb is really strange. The eyes on the 2012 with the beak of the 2024 would be perfect.

Pretty much, yeah. I definitely perceive them as pupils when the eyes are black.

Possibly, I guess we'll see what they do when they eventually respond to the criticism (if they do).

Agreed and agreed.

That doesn't even make sense. Wouldn't the pupiless eyes be an inconsistency?

So, they made the faces simpler? Is that the conclusion that was drawn? I don't understand what this rule is supposed to mean.

The source on this is the LEGO The Force of Creativity book.

Which states that,  it was noticed when the designs were being done for the 2023 Palpatine that Star Wars Minifigures were not following the guidlines set out. As of THAT figure all figures that needed coloured eyes would now follow those guidelines.

Ninjago is probably the only theme that I can recall seeing the style 🤷🏻‍♂️

( On reflection it's also used in the Marvel theme for characters like Scarlet Witch, Zombie Strange, Bruce Banner to name a few)

I won't be sat here typing out the 3 paragraphs from the book that cover it 😅 but if you're interested

Here's a pic of them from the book 👌🏻

That book passage has such "well actually/student reminds the teacher about homework that's due" energy.

I don't think that those eyes "create greater consistency," nor do they "strengthen the sense that minifigures inhabit the same imaginative world." They look far more uniform if they all have a black "pupil," not to have colored eyes suddenly have white interiors. And, again, just because the rule exists, doesn't mean the rule can't be changed - especially if, as they admit, they only started applying it in the past year! It feels cheap, it looks like bantha poodoo, and the old ones, even if they technically didn't "follow the rules," looked infinitely better! Cut it out, Lego - I'm not going to buy these figs if they look like this!

...Okay, I'll get off my soap box about this now. I really do hope that Lego is listening to the feedback and realizes that this rule is stupid and is actively ruining minifigs. That is all.

I actually like the Marvel and Ninjago examples, but it doesn't work for Palpatine or Crumb. I don't mind it on Ezra or Ahsoka, but yeah, Palpatine looks terrible with the white pupil.

I was on the Lego Inside Tour this year and although they didn't specifically mention the pupils/eyes, they kept stressing how they want everything to be consistent with their products. But TLG has never been consistent because it is a toy that has to evolve and adapt! Over the years we have had: Creator Expert becoming Icons, every changing inclusion of minifigures (exclusive or not) in UCS sets, the brief dabble with Master Builder Series, baseplates vs road plates, adult-orientated sets featuring the black boxes, the list goes on!

I'm not a fan of the new system governing the pupil/eye graphics, I get the logic behind it, but they need to ask themselves "does this look good?"

Exceptions exist for a reason. Sometimes you just can't fit everything in the same rule and expect it to work. Those eyes look horrid and lifeless. Why should my 12 year old minifigure look better than the one released in 2024, really don't get it.

Can't wait to see if Jabba is affected by this lol

Not that I don’t agree, though…

Looks like there will be a March wave after all, as that’s when another new set will be released, namely a buildable version of our favourite war criminal, Chopper  (source: exabricks)

Even so, assuming the UCS R2 is still available in March, it'll be our 7th buildable astromech on shelves at one time!!! (They definitely thought this through fr)

More buildable stuff. Yay :ugh:

Please... enough with the buildables! If this keeps up we'll be getting 2 playsets per year by 2030.

Most people I've heard who actually want the droid factory set (and that's already a small number) only care about Chopper so sales of that set are gonna plummet when this one is more widely known about.

Also yeah obligatory buildables bad, system sets good.

Please LEGO I am begging for you to 1) stop the coloured eyes and 2) cap the number of buildable sets so we can have more system ones (and just make more sets in general; even including the buildables we're getting fewer sets in total now than before).

This is one of the worst summer waves in years in my opinion.

 -overpriced

-sets that no one wanted like the droid set

-SD is too small

-dark falcon is neat concept but too expensive for a gimmick set, could have gotten an MTT instead

There’s a silver lining here. Lego doesn’t release sets like this by themselves. They usually have a companion set or two on release date. There is hope for a Battlepack.

"I don't care what you believe, I believe!"

Namely, that last year's May and March waves had more sets+ included standard system sets. Not that that's a gurantee- after all, 2024 was the smallest January wave in ages and 2025's seems mid-sized- but I'd refer you to my first statement. Plus there's no way they're doing Jango and Bo-Katan helmets in the same wave. That HAS to be a leaker getting them confused.

As for the march set we do know about, on the one hand, Chopper. On the other, buildable. Are people buying this many? I always assumed the main market for these was non-AFOL adults who wanted a few lego sets around their home or office. They're putting out so many these past few years, especially in the first few months of 2025 alone, that it feels like they're oversaturating their market.

I agree there is going to be too many at once R2 and the droideka have been on sale constantly since they’ve come out if they are getting sales it isn’t at rrp. Also I find it hard to believe that Jango and Bo helmet would be on sale at the same time but they are slightly different so I find it hard to get that someone could get them confused.

again all I can say is thanks Lego I can save money for other things because I won’t be touching any of these sets

On one hand, super excited for a buildable Chopper as that actually makes sense as a buildable set!

On the other hand, my fears about Lego utterly losing sight of what actually makes Lego sets appealing in the first place continue to deepen. Thus far:

- January is dominated by midi-scale ships and a buildable character.
- March is (thus far) comprised of a buildable character, helmet, and buildable logo.

And let's face it, we all know the summer wave will contain at least one or two buildable <things> as well. I'm sure the May / June waves (if they exist) will also be dominated by non-System stuff. It's genuinely sad to see at this point, and I doubt all of the buildable stuff have been phenomenal successes either.

Another tidbit from Exabricks; no Acolyte sets have been planned.

I just received a message from my future self in 2030.

Battlepacks, Micro-fighters and mechs no longer exist.

10 buildable characters released that year alone.

5 new minifigs! Way more than the previous year.

6 play-sets in total: 4 of which are the annual Luke’s Landspeeder, Tie Fighter, X-Wing and 501st vehicle.

UJ/ it actually sucks. Who the Kriff is buying all these buildable characters?!!! Especially Chewie. Who thinks that ugly nerf-herder of a build is worth £200?!!!

(This is obvious hyperbole) Sometimes one has to wonder if Lego even likes money.

The buildable chopper is apparently $100 so wouldn't be in scale with this year's R2 another L.

I won't completely give up hope on Accolyte sets because even the more reliable leakers didn't exactly have an 100% accuracy rate last year.

I doubt he knows anything specific about next year's 2HY sets at this point, so there's still a chance :smug:

I, uh, I dunno that acolyte sets would be the best financial decision from lego. (Which as a side note, "No acolyte sets have been planned" corresponds well with the showrunner saying no one's talked to her about a second season.)

I mean, if someone sees a blurry picture of what appears to be a mando helmet with blue, you could definitely draw either conclusion.

Same. If the ARC is phenomenal I might pick it up. That's it.

Exactly. Even if we get a playscale/system heavy 2HY, as we tend to, this year is shaping up to be nearly 50/50 standard lego sets to buildables, which is absurd.

Sad for those who found something in that show to enjoy, but I'm happy about this. With as few system sets left as we have, I'd prefer for them to be from things most people liked.
