Yes, only 6 troops, but I do like the Astro droid and the vehicles seems to benefit from having 3 figures, for each.

Hopefully stock is good, because I’d want a fair few of these.

The set go extremely well with Boarding on Tantive, Yavin Base, and the Imperial Star Destroyer all from recent times. I love when I can buy multiple sets that make sense together.

Can actually fill out the Yavin base properly now if I can get my hand on one of these sets. I’m hoping it’s not an exclusive. I could have sworn the falcon one from last year was in  another shop in the UK

Amen to that my brothers in the force.

I’m going to try and get 2 rebel speeders and dropships as well as the ISD. That’s my plan for the rest of the year.

The imperial and rebel military must grow. Separatists and pirates/ criminals are the last factions that need some decent hardware. (Out of those that matter anyway.)

Don't think so- pretty sure it was only available through LEGO themselves. It did go on sale eventually, but considering it was a sequel set that's not a guarantee that this new one will get a similar discount.

I'd love a "Jabba's guards" pack, maybe a weequay, one of each type of nikto and a gamorrean. It'd be great to compliment the Barge/Skiff.

I really hope they don't limit the length of the new set's run like they did with the Falcon one last year; it's not like it's tied to Christmas like that one was.

And I hope that the Scalpers stay well clear of this, more likely since there isn’t a Clone in it therefore being a bad investment. Looking at you LifeBricks and MandR!

This set is so Kriffing Peak. I just hope that Lego doesn’t repeat the mistakes of the Clone Blister Pack and Republic Fighter Tank by not making enough. Nevermind us AFOLs, kids are going to want this set. And I feel like that should be our priority. So that today’s generation can feel the same childhood that we had with revamped versions of our childhood sets.

I feel like that this will be on a lot of kids’ Christmas lists.

If they do, it's proof that they're grifters- if they're so concerned about the 2019- stormie helmets, why army-build those bad designs?

100% agree. This is a great set for kids.

It's on MY Christmas list.

For $20, you get 4x minifigs in a battlepack (since 2022). For $15, you get 3x minifigs in an accessory pack. When it comes to BPs since 2022, $5 has got you 1 minifig. So can’t we get 6 minifigs for $30?

We aren’t talking about a Tantive IV hallway build to go with them. You see two $20 builds. In my view, the Rebellion tank and the Imperial Dropship look like great $20 and $15 builds, respectively. (Although even that tank at $20 is questionable.) So does $35 seem reasonable? Sure. $40? $45? I don’t see value in that.

(Of course, I can’t just agree to disagree, so I must write a short essay that will try to persuade you to my side. Will it work? No; because you, as you have stated, have nostalgia, and no man with an experience is at the mercy of a man with an argument. I can only offer rationale for my opinion.)

But the accessory packs have TINY builds. These are significantly more substantial, moreso than builds for $20 battle packs tend to be. (And the tantive IV was $55- is the slightly larger build + a minifig instead of an astromech worth $20?)

I would argue nostalgia isn't clouding my judgement too much, nor that it's unreasonable to see this as worth $40, and as I said, I also don't think $45 would be a good price.

Fair enough. I can see what you mean; I just don’t see what I think you’re seeing. Still, I need to see more pictures before I can pass final judgement.

The more I look at the new 'battle pack' the more i like it. Even though both builds are non-canon (I think) they both look like something that could sit alongside other playscale vehicles and not look out of place, like a Kenner mini-rig or something that Filoni & co would later introduce into canon media. Here's a idea for someone's YouTube channel: Best Playscale Battlepack Builds.

As others have pointed out, the set is a remake of two early battle packs - the Imperial Dropship and Rebel Scout Speeder - which were 81 and 82 pieces respectively. With the new set clocking in at 383 pieces it'll obviously be a more substantial build for each (guessing the dropship will be the bigger of those two builds).

About the price: two vehicles at $15 each (I want to say $12 but looking at the piece count and modern prices that's never going to happen), 6 figs at ~$2 each (especially as there are no unique figs and are repeats of others from earlier this year), plus an anniversary droid at say $3-4 and that gets us to $45 very quickly (unfortunately). I know the Clone Trooper/Battle droid pack was only $30 but that set had 150+ fewer pieces, and many of the 'figs' were droids, which are priced/valued differently. I still don't think $45 will pass the 'volume of stuff' pub test but that's where LSW is nowadays.

The 2008 battlepacks were $10 each, in 2024 terms that's equal to $14.59, so close to $30 combined. The new set has more than twice the number of pieces, two (repeated) figs less but including an anniversary fig with new prints. I really hope that it's $40 but also hate that the numbers point to somewhere higher than that...

I’m curious to see what the actual troop capacity of the new drop-ship is. There appears to be some more substantial space along the sides compared to previous models. And it appears that there’s an interior of sorts in the mid section.

I love this set! Especially rebels' speeder, It has wibe of old games like Empire At War or old Battlefronts. If price will be less then 40$ I'll probably buy a few copies. I hope we will see in future more sets like this and Clones vs Droids pack. I think more sets with two different factions that have some kind of conflict will be welcomed. I'm nostalgic for times when one wave could have at-at and snow spider or at-ap and droid gunship.

I'd rather have some character variety over three generic pilots. There's more to the prequel era than just clones and the other characters should be represented too. Its been far too long since we've had a Jedi like Plo Koon or Kit Fisto in a set.

Oh don't get met wrong, I despise the clone bro mentality. I simply wish for a complete crew, and my wish for three generic ones may be influenced by nostalgia for the first version, which I didn't buy back then.

Back of the box leaked. Huge, huge fan of this set. Looks excellent.

Yeah I agree. A bit weird that the drop-ship can only deploy 2 troopers though. Whilst the 2 versions could deploy 4. I still love it though and how it appears to double as air-support.

The rebel speeder is just excellent though. Really giving me EAW vibes.

Symptomatic of downscaling across the board. Both vehicles fit 3 troops. Yes, it’s a bit disheartening but it’s what Lego does now.

Can we make them canon at this point? They've had 2 and 3 lego versions, respectively. I don't think any lego-created designs have had multiple sets before, excluding thinks like Jek's E-wing getting the SDCC version.

I agree, hoping it's easy to mod to fit 4 again.

It's more affordable to buy Stormtroopers for 3.50$ each on Bricklink than to buy that set in October.

People aren't saying it's difficult to obtain stormies secondhand, that's not why they want the pack.

8 days to go and has Jedi Bob been officially revealed yet? Have Lego just forgotten?

But the new one appears to be larger than its predecessors.

Hopefully they include enough extra pieces to make a third seat at the back.

Project Stardust is taking up too much of the empire’s funding. The dropships aren’t even dropships anymore. They’re just small patrol ships.

It’s like having an air-craft carrier the size of USS Yorktown but only having hangar space for 2 fighterjets. At that it hardly lives up to its namesake.

I still love it though. The dropship definitely has better looks than it’s predecessors but lacks some of their functionality.

383 pieces and 6 figures and an astromech for 45$--I am scratching my head as to what they are going to do with that Ahsoka Jedi interceptor at the same price and fewer pieces. Based on Bob's and Obi-wan's starfighter it seems like 2 figures and a droid is likely.

It definitely looks like a fun "battle in a box" set, both vehicles are really good, and they keep the figure lineup simple. I like it more than the recent clone battle-pack they did.

I don’t think the price is confirmed yet it’s only speculation at this point. Could be 45 could be (should be) less than that.

This is an excellent point- the high end of the estimated prices for this set has 100 more parts and what's assumably significantly more figures than the ahsoka fighter. What's going on?

it's also about the same jump in pieces that we saw between the last obi wan jedi interceptor to anakins most recent one. I felt anakin's interceptor was borderline overbuilt and I don't know how more pieces improves that design. I have no idea what they will try now, unless the build gets an overhaul or something that requires new parts.

Official pics are now out now they were saving it for SDCC. Tbh I’m still not sold on it, the Ackbar trooper is bad probably one of the worst and lazy figures we’ve had in recent times. I think I’d only ever get it on a big sale or if I’m struggling to get enough for a SW promo like may the 4th

I guess an overhaul is the best we can really hope for, but I guess this could give us some hope that there might in fact be a small vulture droid? Previous ones have been a bit oversized, so maybe they'll scale back the interceptor a bit (i.e. closer to Obi's than Ani's recent one) and use the rest of the pieces for it, or a different sidebuild.

What If… Ahsoka’s Jedi Starfighter comes with a new Super Tactical Droid figure? The new mould would make it more worth the price imo.

Yup. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume they'll officially reveal the Skeleton Crew set at comic con right after the trailer drops since that set is also an August 1st set and already appearing on shelves.

It'll only be worth it if it comes with CW Anakin, P1 Rex & Cody as well as Ahsoka and her droid
