They were the only good thing in that whole series in my opinion

I definitely wouldn't go that far, all of the non human-headed figures were pretty good, even Chewbacca. I mena, General Greivous was fantastic and all the armored figures worked great, especially Boba Fett. It's just such a shame they didn't sell all that well. I miss constraction figures so much, as a die-hard Bionicle.

The Nubian Royal Starship is my dream set, and with the chrome parts being long gone I guess we will never see it

It's definitely a huge omission from the episode 1 lineup but they could and should still do one, it just won't look as good as it would have with chrome parts. I don't think they ever would have done an entire set in chrome parts though, unless it was a smaller UCS like the N1. With modern parts, the best we could hope for is a set covered in drumlaquered silver and molded silver pieces with some light bluish gray parts mixed in. I'd honestly rather have a somewhat compromised design like that than never one at all though. Heck, I could see them maybe making a midi scale set of the vehicle using a lot of drumlaquered silver pieces on the outside, but I think most of us would rather have something minifig compatible.

I completely agree. Something is better than nothing, especially with this arguably iconic, decently requested ship. I’m also in agreement that it would work without chrome; Hachiroku24 has made an excellent version in light bluish grey. I honestly think that the most difficult part might be that color consistency which makes Hachiroku24’s version look so clean, yet also is rarely found in LEGO’s ships. If they are able to do this, then it would be great. After all, C-3PO is chrome, yet the minifigure (aside from the limited special edition) is not, and I doubt the buildable one later this year will be either. (I know the chrome-ness is a more iconic part of the ship than it is for C-3PO, but I still think it would work).

Oh. That’s a good point. That would be a great play-feature for kids. So is the X-Wing vs Tie going to be a army/ fleet builder with generic characters?

Isn’t it supposed to cost £90 in what world is that going to be a good way to army/fleet build?

I think everyone’s expectations need to be really lowered with this set, by that I mean I really doubt it is going to be anything to do with Mando or skeleton crew or anything like that.

the original rumors was that it had the detached wings so you could swap the tie and x wings around and as far as I can tell that is still the rumor we haven’t seen anything like that in any series yet.

I’d say Renown’s comment is Tarkin, everyone has been saying they don’t give clues on characters we’ve already got but they did for the super battle droids in what was his easiest riddle to solve.

this x wing tie set isn’t going to be that special imo, it’ll be good for kids who can mess around with a tie with x wing wings and vise versa but that’s it.

It’s still probably not a movie-based set, due to the lack of anniversary figure, though.

We need to be careful with perceived patterns, because more often than not, those end up just existing in our heads  That said, it would be pretty weird to have only a single Skywalker Saga playset this year without an anniversary minifig.

While I’m still expecting a “rule”-breaking OT set, I’m having my fingers crossed for a Mando-related one. The minifig selection would have so much more potential and the concept of uglies would fit a lot better too since they only exist post-ROTJ in both canon and legends (at least as far as I know)

The return of B2s was unexpected, and could not be guessed from the name of the set; a large Death Star set is going to include Tarkin.

What I mean is the clues aren’t just based on new characters which is what people seem to be dismissing that it could be Tarkin. He did the B2 reveal and those funny 3 legged droid things that came with the battle pack.

Yeah you would think a Death Star set would include him but it’s Lego and they can put whoever they want in a set and it make no sense. Tarkin also he hasn’t had an appearance in a brand new set for 8 years so yeah it is worthy of a cryptic renown reveal.

That's definitely a possibility. Drum lacquered silver would be a good compromise. Fingers crossed we get one for the 30th anniversary!

We hadn't had super battle droids in 9 years with no prior indication of them returning, due to the molds being too brittle. It's been about as long since Tarkin, but Tarkin in a Death Star is a lot more obvious than super battle droids returning out of nowhere, and of course they just hadn't made tarkin- it wasn't like his hairpiece had a structural issue or something.

If we get the ship, it'll be the former.

Everyone seems to forget that the main audience of standard system sets is kids. Kids who, in the vast majority, would rather have starfighters or gunships or capital ships than a queen's cruiser, especially one that would inevitably be primarily LGB for budget (if they weren't going to make the Crest or the N1 primarily silver, there's no chance they do it for the queen's ship.) The audience with TPM nostalgia is old enough to be interested in 18+ sets now- hence the stuff we're getting this year- so a midi-scale cruiser is possible, especially since it'd probably be more likely to get more drumlaquered elements. But I don't think we get a playset of it anytime soon.

The shaping of the fuselage (something Lego got right in 1999 and never since in system scale) alone excites me, this has the potential of being the nicest looking x-wing second to the UCS, and the best minifigure compatible one we’ve ever gotten.

Tarkin is an obvious choice, but the clue of Renown about him was not an obvious. On the other side if the character is extremely unexpected, like Malak, then we get a pretty obvious clue.

I've just noted that the new Sith Infiltrator will be a Smyths exclusive in the UK which is disappointing as it's unlikely to be discounted in the near future, if at all.  It might be one to order directly from LEGO instead on May 1st - assuming that they don't run out of stock too quickly!  The rest of the wave should be widely available (presumably the TIE Interceptor will be a John Lewis/Argos/Smyths exclusive within a few months); I'm almost tempted to buy it immediately but it would be nice to get it with a bit of a discount!

Smyths do sales a lot, R2D2 is already on sale there so I doubt it would stay full price for to long until there is a special event.

I’m happy about that being a Smyths exclusive. I’ve never paid full price for a set from there.

Speaking of sales, I’m in the US, and Costco had the new R2 for $79.99 and the midi-scale Tantive IV for $64.99.

What are we actually expecting to be revealed on Wednesday evening? I think that the June wave are definitely going to be revealed. But are we going to get some august anniversary set reveals? Especially seeing as they revealed all the remaining figures, since R2 KT doesn’t count anymore, in the video.

Isn’t the event on May the 4th, i.e., Saturday? But yes, I expect the full June wave to be revealed, plus a set or two from the August wave

Probably the other anniversary sets as well as Jedi Bob's Starfighter and the Dark Millennium Falcon. I'm not going to hold my breath for the rest of the sets but we could see some others, who knows. I think it would make the most sense for them to highlight the sets I just mentioned given the anniversary and leave the regular sets for later. I know Jedi Bob's Starfighter and the Dark Millennium Falcon aren't technically anniversary sets since they don't have anniversary figures but they are clearly intended to be celebrations of the theme and I could see them having anniversary bricks(assuming they're actually real, of course).

At that point might as well do everything- what else would it be, the X-wing/Tie set?

Actually the website says, as @starwarslotrluvva stated, the live stream is on the 1st. I reckon just the anniversary sets are most likely from the August wave as then Lego will be able to reveal a good amount of others in July/ late June.

That I disagree on as previously stated. Lego doesn’t usually like revealing the August wave in one go. If they just revealed the Anniversary sets in the livestream, they’ll still have 4 sets that they will be able to reveal on July 1st. (Buildable C3P0 , Jedi Bob’s Starfighter, X-Wing vs Tie and Dark Falcon)

The excitement possibility is that there’s a strong chance we finally find out whatever the hell the Young Leia set is. I pray for a geonosis arena with a couple of clones. (Not because I want it to be but so the “clone fans” can cease their whining about there not being any sets for them.)

About May 4th in the UK, is it the case that there is no 2x VIP across all SW sets but only the vouchers on a handful? So you’re out of luck and would have to pay full price in most instances? Thanks

The new May 1st sets (with the exception of the UCS TIE Interceptor) are all available to order on the Bricksmegastore (Australian LEGO store) website right now for some reason! Still going to wait 'til midnight to buy them to get the promo though.

I don't think we are yet to hear anything other than what you've stated. It could be announced later or tomorrow. They usually have a points deal and I don't know why they wouldn't...

Question. Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator™ 75383, I can't see it on sale on other sites than LEGO, sort of, in Sweden. Ebrix will get it, but there, it costs more than from LEGO itself.

BARC Speeder™ Escape 75378, that is on sale from the usual suspects.
