If he's aware of the two variants of the Octuptarra Droid and knows that the movie one is technically different and is smaller and bronze in colour and the clone wars version is blue and larger, then it would suggest that it's an episode 3 set.

I assumed that you were referring to the Octuptarra Combat Tri-Droid seen on Utapau (the smaller version), so I pointed out that we also see the Octuptarra Magna Tri-Droid (the larger version) on Mygeeto; the major difference between the RotS and TCW versions of the Magna Tri-Droid is their colour.

It'll likely have Clone Wars branding because Clone Wars is the hotter topic right now.

It most likely will. The AT-TE had it, despite clearly being a RotS set

I mean, the only thing definitively RotS about the AT-TE was the background of the box art, and other than that, in terms of the physical set, I guess there was the fact that it was missing a couple of red markings, but even the omission of the crab droid from RotS in favour of the DSD-1s that appear lots in TCW make the set seem overall more CW-y. Everything else was more of a subjective design choice, like how LEGO usually only puts damage scuffs on clone armour from live-action media. What I'm trying to say is that, arguably, the way I see it is that the AT-TE was a part of the Clone Wars line, as it is functionally a CW set, however the designers chose to base it specifically on a scene with the 212th that happened to be from a movie rather than a more obscure and less interesting battle from a CW episode. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Fair enough, but most people would likely consider it a ROTS set since that‘s what people think of when they hear „Phase II Cody“ But you’re right, it works as a TCW set just as well. Leaving it ambiguous might have been intentional :classic:

The lack of red markings on top make it a set based on the movies

I have thought since the set was revealed that it is actually based on the Battle of Yerbana; the presence of a Dwarf Spider Droid and lack of Airborne Troopers fits Yerbana far better than Utapau.

LSW designers have been catching flak for like a year over that set not having a crab droid because the box art designer picked the wrong planet.

The designer didn’t choose the wrong planet. It’s a movie colorway AT-TE and it has the 212th. The reason there’s discrepancies here and there with crab or spider droid is because it’s a simple kid’s set, not a collector’s display model where such nuances are usually researched. It’s also why the commercial  of the toy shows Geonosis

Additionally, Utapau is far more iconic than Yerbana (which can also easily be confused with Cato Neimoidia).

I like the notion that the spider droid being included instead of a crab droid is just because it's a standard system set, but the lack of a couple red markings means it HAS to be a ROTS set.

I have no idea why this matters to anyone, this doesn't change the actual content of the set whatsoever.

I did mention those. But as I said, it's still arguably a CW set, just based on an iconic battle from a movie rather than an obscure one from the series. Could go either way.

Precisely.

They’ve never done a crab droid before. They’ve done AT-TEs with red markings from the animated show before. This was a clear and deliberate design choice, with figures and box art background to back it up as a set directly from Episode III’s battle of Utapau. The rest you can toss up to designer negligence, akin to calling a clone commander a pilot. Additionally, the marketing material outright calls it a ROTS set, putting this argument to bed.

Been a quiet spell on info...

Only thing we can expect are the official pictures for the January sets. Which if memory serves they were very late with last year. I doubt we will hear anymore on the March sets until January and then the May/June ones will be a while. Last year we got the summer wave news on April fools. I don’t think many pictures for anything 2024 has come out yet with the exception of the new animal crossing theme (but someone can correct me if I’m wrong)

We have pictures for the Jurassic World, Super Mario, Friends, Lunar New Year, Monkie Kid, botanical collection, and Minecraft sets, plus the modular museum, one of the two Sonic sets, and the Dune set

SW is pretty late again, but I’m expecting pictures any day now! Too bad it’s just two sets, but what you gonna do

10 minutes ago they posted some star wars promotional stuff on instagram, no new sets yet but it's unusual for them to post a pretty awesome post with so much effort in it for no reason. Maybe they're building up to something?

Actually, there is an octuptara droid in the poster. It doesn't look anything like the 2014 one so unless i'm forgetting something, you might be able to see the real upcoming octuptara droid on there. It is standing next to a shock trooper with binoculars.

Oh wow that’s genuinely a really cool poster! You’re right that the octuptara droid doesn’t resemble the one from 75036 in the slightest so it’s got to be the one from the upcoming battle pack.

Huh, haven’t noticed it, good catch! Yeah, that kinda has to be the one from the new set! Hope this means a reveal is imminent :excited:

Ok! Now we're talking! Aside from the sick poster, anyone wanna talk about the colours of the droid? Looks like the 1x2 hinges on the legs might be a dark blue? And the round head dome is a sky or dlsand blue?

The poster includes some pretty interesting references, like Barriss using one of Ventress‘ lightsabers to duel Anakin or the AT-TEs on the asteroids! :sweet:

It is quite weird though to see the uncanny cartoony faceprint style from back in the day combined with modern prints on the same poster. Still better than pretending they never existed

And the octuptara looks a lot better than its 2014 counterpart!

You can download a free (3.5mb) copy of the poster from the VIP/Insiders page on the LEGO website - it looks far better in that quality! :classic:

EDIT: What's that little green alien between Ahsoka and Dooku?
