Redrado Posted August 16, 2023 Posted August 16, 2023 Hello all! I present to you the first preview of my Douglas DC-9 aircraft I'm currently working on. As of now, I only have the nose section completed, as shown in the image. It's not perfect, since the cockpit windos sit a little too high, but still very happy with it. As of now, I'm building it in white but it will most likely wear the older Iberia livery (not the red and orange one, but the even older one with the red cheatline). The techniques used are not out of this world, mostly snots and angled bricks. Please, let me know if you have any suggestion or feedback! Quote

Magical Duck Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 This looks great so far! Will the landing gear retract? Quote

Unfortunately by the way it is designed there is not enough space, but the gear is made in such a way that it's easy to removed and fill the gap (especially in the nose gear). Redrado Posted June 2 Author Posted June 2 (edited) The final version is finished (to be fair, it has been for a while...). The most interesting part is that it's modular, which means many variants of the plane can be made (since there are many with different fuselage lengths). Unfortunately, at least for now, it doesn't have retractable landing gear, but it can easily be removed and replaced with a cover. It also features movable ailerons (but not flaps...). According to stud.io, it measures 84.5 cm in length, 75 cm in width, and 21.4 cm in height (with landing gear). It has 2,427 pieces and should weigh around 2.1 kg. I also built it with the Iberia livery from the 1970s (before the iconic one designed by Landor). The only downside is that the livery requires some modification to the nose that I’m not too thrilled about, but oh well. I’ve made a couple of night renders, as I felt like experimenting with stud.io. I also made period-appropriate service vehicles for it. Any feedback is welcome! Edited June 2 by Redrado Quote
hikouki Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Amazing work!!! I would definitely buy this if this were a set! Quote
Feuer Zug Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Nicely done. I do like how you mention the variants and the ability to change the DC-9 to suit. Quote
steele Posted June 5 Posted June 5 For a DC-9-50, is there an easy way to add the strakes on the nose? Quote
