[TC25] 42113 V-22 Osprey (new: free instructions)

I'll go with this one because I'll never have the real one in hands.

I scaled it to fit simple 3 blades propellers like the rear one on the Airbus helicopter. That's a 2.2 shrink factor.

Nice pick. And that wing looks good for a start. Not sure about the windshield though, the elbow pieces will look comically bulky, maybe short flebile axles/tubes would make more sense

Cool to see a mini-osprey, started with the same idea this week, but won't have time to finish this before the deadline... cool to see someone else having the same idea!

I also started with 45%, but later leaned towards 55%, Good luck!

Thanks. I'm not sure with the elbow neither but it's supposed to represent the orange nose and not the windshield.

Thanks, did you have cool ideas that you could send me a picture of if you won't finish it. Is it cheating?

Good start, as most difficult part seems to be done.

Thanks, the engine rotation was a subject for sure, landing gear is not straightforward neither and I'm looking forward to the double cargo door!

Update:

I adjusted scale to half size

For pieces availability reason The dark blueish gray area is black with dbg lines, the light blueish gray bottom remains lbg

Nice choice of set! This is one I was considering too.

I'm looking forward to seeing the result!

Good progress. Any chance you could try and fit similar propeller spinning induction as in the recent yellow plane? Or at least figure out the secondary controls placement somewhere at the bottom rear?

I envision this kind of toy as something you would hold with one hand from the bottom and use controls for different mechanisation from the back of it.

At this scale and within contest rules and goals there is no chance I try this.

In the current state there is already a knob at the rear to control landing gear.

Perfect proportions, you've recreated small shapes without using system parts, this is totally well done! It looks it is the bigger one if you don't look closely at the photos.

Especially the roof section is outstandingly well done. Panel work is perfect, great job!

The front section looks not that good in my humble opinion, sadly the small angled panels aren't available in light orange :-/

You have done really well. Not a set many of us will ever own so you have done well to shrink this down.

Thank you!

Yeah, I picked that one because I will never have an Osprey on my shelves... But I can make my own mini one!

It looks great! And I love how the nose looks.

Thanks, I would like to refine it but shape and "color filling" are OK

Thank you both for your kind words!  The new panels are helpfull for small shapes, I love them! I think I would add some system pieces now to refine the model but I still have some work on the functions before finishing the outside.

Beside the elbow-macaroni assembly I procrastinated to build the front because It's the most visible part. That's why it  looks unfinished.

Thanks everybody!

Now every function works. I had to invert the front landing gear deployment motion. But I could fit a double cargo door like the original. Top door doesn't move much but the mechanism is there and works.

Really cool and now this nose makes more sense. The ramp being mechanised surprised me.

Now you need to make some kind of stand for it to be able to showcase the features without turning it upside down and without propellers hitting the floor when engines are in horizontal flight position and make video that's not off-hand, so maybe a stand for the phone as well :)

Really cool small model, are you planning ot make some 3d to explain how the mechanisms are laid internally?

There is still some work to do on the body

The video is quick and dirty to show progress and an edited video will for sure be in entry post

I'll probably make a colored model to explain mechanisms and also digitalise it because I'm starting to love it!

This is a really neat entry, looks cool and works well, and it was quite a quick build!

Thanks! Yeah, just because is was made in four days don't assume it was made in a few hours... I'm able to binge build hard!

OK, I am "done" with this Osprey. I had an unexpected problem withe the centre of gravity. Because the original has a battery box and motor the landing gear position is fine but mine is tail heavy and I needed no fill empty space at the front just for balance. There are notably stacked system plates in the nose to make it somewhat stable.

Just after pretending I was done and posting pictures I realised the rotors were too small since I switched scale to 1/2 with everything but them.

Making them bigger allowed me to set the blade with pitch angle just like the big one.

Since I had to make a new photo shooting I also took the time to improve the stickers

"Et voilà!"
