[MOC] Chinese Door Gods

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I'm glad to introduce my Lego MOC - Chinese Door Gods.

It's an old tradition in China that people pastes 2 General's images (Qin Qiong and Yuchi Gong) on front door for sake of peace and safe, when it's Chinese new year.

I just put one typical original image of the door gods. My goal is to use LEGO pieces to build 2 action figures base on the General's character.

I chose green and blue as the main color scheme and used orange and pink to enhance character's saturation, then added some gold/silver pieces for the details.

It's not easy to describe old Chinese culture in English, so I just decide to let pictures to tell.

I used ball-joint to connect most of the body parts, to ensure the figures can make some simple movements. While since most of the body are covered by the armors, the moving range is limited. It's hard to balance...

Last but not least I put some WIP pictures here in case someone is interest about it.

These are excellent creations. The colourful shades and clever construction are great. Indeed a MOC one could call Art.

Thanks for sharing these with the forum. :classic:

These are CHUNKY!!! Looks amazing, really captured the bulk of the armour plates, but also the fluidity of the people underneath.

Thank you guys for your nice words, I would like to share a small video to show how I built the head part. Even though the subtitle is in Chinese, I hope you can get some inspiration.

A beautiful and impressive build.

You catched the armor well, and the ability to pose them doesn't hurt.
