Yeah, I kinda thought about them starting at 100€ but then I wasn´t sure wheter that isn´t that big today anymore. On the other side, I would still count sets like the Viking Village and the Galaxy Explorer towards the "big" ones. Maybe Small, Medium and Big just don´t do it anymore ;).

Yeah, they could make it in the range I mentioned but also build it bigger if they want. Kinda both things would work. But I still kinda feel like we are going to see a Castle set for less than 100€ this year.

Blacksmith and Viking Village size would be nice but I think they already know the Castle lovers will pay big bucks for big sets, and they aren't really aiming for kids with the new Icons line anyways.

I can see them making anything Castle smaller than $100 exclusively as GWP with high thresholds, just like Forest Hideout and upcoming Majistos.

From a business perspective, I think what they're doing is smart, because they keep the supply low, and the demand for castle remains high.  I agree we want smaller sets, but I also see that the demand for castle is not coming from kids, it's adults with expendable income.

I could see them making the Forestmen or Wolfpack Sets for 120€ but not much more than that, else it would be to far from the original, but I actually would still think they would be less than 100€

Well, while I agree with that for sets they would sell for up to 40€ I think Sets above that would be sold directly. I mean lets say they remake the Wolfpack Tower and it would be sold for 80€. Then as a GWP they would ask 400€ for that. It is just unlikely. and to much. While of course there would be people still getting it and Lego has enough big sets in this Price range. But still the rant would be big.

I have to disagree here. While of course they are aiming for people with enough money with sets like the Lion knights castle, there are many people that would love to get it and just can´t (or could but it is just not reasonable to do it at this price point). Other might get it because it is just awesome, but surely can´t afford to buy such sets on a regular basis. So it is more a one time thing for them. While on the other hand if we are coming back to the example above, the Wolfpack Tower for 80 or even 120€ more people would buy it. Give them a matching GWP for 150€ or so, and they will add something else to reach that. In the end the number buying that would be way bigger than for a 400€+ Set.

That's not what I mean.

I don't think Wolfpack Tower would ever be remade as a $80 value GWP set. It's ideal to be remade like Eldorado Fortress as a $200+ set.  I can't see them remaking this as an $80 set, since it's quite a large set and would be brick built instead of using BURPS and large castle wall plates like the original.

If they do GWP Castle, it would be something smaller like a $30-40 value Wolfpack Renegades, with a ~$250-300 purchase threshold, (whatever the Wolfpack Tower price would be).  That is how I see it happening.

This upcoming Majisto GWP, I do see it as a $250-300 threshold, priced perfectly for the Market Square, and would be returning as a GWP for it.  Just like Forest Hideout came back for LKC, just like Blacktron Cruiser came back for Eldorado Fortress.

there are many people that would love to get it and just can´t

I never said it was fair, I'm just pointing out Lego'a business trends and how Castle fits into their potential plans moving forward.

I can't give any reason why they think kids aren'y interested in castle, but that's generally been their impression.  I'd love to have a return of the entire line and continue with new Classic Castle factions, but I guess TLG sees it differently

I know you didn´t meant that this set would become  mid-priced set, it was just an example because you wrote everything under 100$ could become a GWP, which just seems to high to me.

However I still can see them making it a 80€ Set, if they want. But I also can see them doing it bigger.

I would have thought more like 170€-220€, although 250€ does still seem possible. Kinda hard to tell without Pictures. But I don´t think it will be more than 250.

I think that kind of scale would be great for either of them. Or, why not both, and have a $200-$250 combined 'outlaws' set? Forestmen hideout and Wolfpack outpost or something?

I can see that threshold too.  I'm mostly factoring recent inflation and the rumors of it having 3 minifigs pushing it past $200.  Of course I'd be much happier with it under $200, we still have to wait and see.

I'm going to need multiples of this set! The blurry images we got from that survey leak make this set look amazing! And how can I not mention the inclusion of a GOAT!

With 2 knights confirmed for the Majisto GWP that I would assume to be Dragon Master remakes, it is safe to assume we might also be getting 1 or 2 Dragon Master figures in the village as well. Lego wouldn't release an exclusive faction update just for 1 GWP right? However, LEGO could always go the safe route and just give us more Black Falcons or Lion Knight Crusaders.

I'd much rather the Majisto GWP will have Lion Knights or Black Falcons than a haf-assed Dragon Master without the right helmet and plumes..

I´d rather have two sets than one combined.

Well there are actually 3 reasons why I think the Village will belong to the Lion Knights

  • I think this set will be an extension for the Lion Knights castle, where we already got some villagers and animals.
  • On the survey images was a red and yellow flag on the tower, which are the colours of the Lion Knights
  • The Building with the tower seems like a reinterpretation of the Guarded in, which also was an Lion Knights set.

However we can still see a knight from another faction in the set, like we did with the Black Falcons in their castle.

I have a feeling the Market Square might have Lion Knight torso variants, like what we saw with Black Falcon CMF.  The variant could even be cross axes dudes.  Not sure what guards they used in the survey pic, the colors don't match the lion knights at all so maybe it's a different color variant too, like the Build a Mini silver Falcons torso we saw out of the blue.

I do hope we get some new shield prints snd variants too since there is a shield maker.  They did go out of their way to make redesigns of classic Castle themes for both CMF and recent Castle releases, I'd hope to see more easter eggs and not just reprints of what we already have.

If we're wishlisting knights, I'd love a way to get my hands of some Raven knight for cheaper - even some kind of variant just with those colours.

I have a small force of eight, but at the going market rate I'll not be increasing that ever.

Those came out at a terrible time.  Covid shut down all the brick and mortar stores nearby, and I missed out on the entire line.  And the markup on those guys make it hard to get a single Tournament Knight...

The prelim seemed to use the grey-and-black Viking torsos as generic non-faction armour for the guards.

The Lion’s castle gave us the Yellow Castle shields (minus the Crusader cross), the classic red/white split shield, and the crossed axes variant as a shield for a total of five Easter-egg shields; I can see the village shieldsmith getting at least the two classic checkerboard designs, the classic three-section design, and the Black Knights’ shield. Wolfpack is possible as well, along with a Black Knights’ oval shield, and a Dragon Masters shield (if they appear in the Majisto GWP).

In the instructions for the lion knight castle they did make reference to the other factions didn’t they, could just be a reference or could be a hint at other factions coming in future sets

They referenced basically every pre-2000 faction, so I would not recommend taking those notes as any kind of hint towards upcoming sets/Minifigs.

Looks like BrickClicker just announced Medieval Market Square will be priced $215, which would bring it closer to the price of Eldorado Fortress.

Promobricks leak had the price at 229 Euro (also $229 USD), which would actually be closer to the price of the Globe, Boutique Hotel or Jazz Club price.

Not sure which is the real price, I'm personally hoping for the $215 obviously.

For what the rumours/leaks say we are getting with this set, 229€ already seemed quite low, so 215€ seem kinda unlikely. But however, if they are true I´m not going to complain. I just hope we still get many animals like they had in the survey.

I messaged BrickClicker for clarification.  This was his response

For the past month or so I'd been hearing $215 and recently euro and US prices are different sometimes so I imagine it's $215 but 230euro :(

I kind of agree it's a bit low considering the amount of minis present in the set.  But I mean, it really should be packed.  I felt the LKC was a bit overpriced for what we got out of it, considering we didn't even get a proper Majisto.  I could see the LKC price being inflated because of all the new prints and molds involved ,whereas this new Market Square benefits from the LKC already paving the way.  I'm really hoping it's decently priced, because I'm really not looking forward to anything over $300 CAD ($229 USD)

Wasn't the initial leak for the LKC that it was going to be $350 in price - about $50 less than what it released as? Maybe Lego realised that the price hikes in the last 1-2 years didn't equate to as many sales/as much profit as they had hoped, and so they're going to try to make these kinds of sets less expensive to get more purchases/more profit overall? Viking Village is already really well-priced, and has all printed pieces (including several new ones). Market Square can probably reuse at least a few, and, at most, might only use one new mold for the goat, which would also keep prices down. Either way, I'll stay optimistic for now...

LKC was in a weird spot because it came out right after all Lego prices went up.  So the previous rumored price could have been accurate as a pre-inflation price.

Hopefully the cheaper price is a result of the Feb survey.  Especially since these aren't liscenced themes.

Too bad, no release date yet.

Nothing precise, but Brickclicker cited March or April.  It doesn't seem that far away, and Viking Village, Indiana Jones, and soon Magisto GWP satisfy my need for historical themes in the meantime.

I rather pay 230 and get a lot of animals instead of 215 and be disappointed by the number of animals included in the set :shrug_oh_well:
