Technic Parts We Would Find Useful

Recommended Posts

Like have 4 small holes in the gear and then connect those holes to the driving ring extension, Wich is normal on one side , but on the other it has small teeth to fit the clutch gear.

That would be nice, but I'm doubtful that it would be durable enough with the pins being as small as they'd need to be for that.

It is a shame that it can't mesh with double-bevel gears, though! I think meshing one with a 36T gear would be a legitimately useful combination, and we don't have a spur version of that for it to work with. 28Ts too, but that'd be a pretty weird spacing.

Interesting part beside new susension arm in McLaren is Z shaped liftarm...

You can see it at the right side on image of incomplete McLaren tpgether with two new suspension arms...

...penultimate image in gallery...

Or is it better to transfer this post in general parts discussion?

@Milan do what you think that is more apropriate...

Not exactly liftarm because it is also offset sideways.. And the jump is very high. Would probably consider it more like a link. But interesting / useful part definitely (when the size fits)!

I needed such part a while ago to make stiffer (but at the same time narrower) chassis where live axles would be attached...

Me too, but I think this will be too big for that purpose.

On my models axles are robust, so it could be great (but first need to find out exact dimemsions.

Going off this post, patent, it's probably 13 x 6 x 3 outer dimensions.

A type of part I could've used just recently:

Corner-type liftarm (90° angle like the current 3x5 liftarms) but with holes in one arm facing different direction than in the other arm and with dimensions of maybe 3x4 or so.

Pinholes arranged like these and joined:

That sounds somewhat irregular to be actually produced, couldn't you make use of this existing one instead?

No, the shorter end has only one pinhole in one direction so it doesn't make strong connections that way.

Has someone held my beer? I have the STL ready for 3D printing, in case you would like to print it. ;)

Nah, I'm a purist. But it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one with this idea :)

Another thing that could be usefull is 36 tooth gear that fits this differential:

Yep, I used it in this fashion in my TC20-entry.

Appeared not long ago (Lego set 60420)

Yes, but this one has 3L axle instead of 2L, I suspect that for its 'regular' use as a connector, the 2L would be needed more often..

I would like a #1 connector but where both holes are pinholes.

I think that is impossible to mold. In general, pinholes must have both ends free, otherwise the slightly wider section in the end where the pin clicks into could be molded, as the mold could not be pulled out from the pinhole.

Literally every flat panel has such a shape in the corner

Yeah, for example 1x3x7 panel has the 4 pinholes on the front then 3 pinholes on either side, so I personally think it can be moulded.

Very recently we get 12t clutch on P1 and G-wagen but it is spur gear type. I know it is for low friction driving but will be useful if one side has bevel.
For example, It can connect 28t, mini turntable, and with some half stud alignment, can connect with 36t.

I agree but lego are kinda pushing these newish low friction gears nowadays
