Can't believe it will be the sixth year already. This theme is one of my favourites, and the sets are so good.

Wonder if they'll start remaking some stuff, like Hagrid's Hut or a Quidditch set. (I'd really like the latter tho.)

The 2HY list has a lot of sets, especially considering we're getting six in March. Seven regular sets, an Advent Calendar, and a D2C. They are all pretty big too, because the prices that we know (five out of seven) start at 65€, and end at 130€.

I can't help but think that those Quidditch jumpers in the banner sets are going to get reused later in the year. The first Quidditch set has been retired a while now and it's an easy go to for a 'playable' set. I also think a Hagrid's Hut might be on the cards for this year, but perhaps a PS one this time. I'm so excited to see what we get. Personally hoping for Gringotts, which I think has to come this year or DA will have retired before too long and it makes no sense not to have them on shelves at the same time, and a Durmstrang Ship. :excited:

And yes, over half a decade! It's insane, but I love it.:moar:

Happy New Year everyone!! A fun way to start the new year and the new thread:

The Eurobricks Forum's Top 10 LEGO Harry Potter Sets 2018-2022!

When I did this last year, I asked everyone to name their top 10 sets. I realized there were a wide range of sets that filled out the 8-10 ranking. A better way would be to name a top 15, so the ones that are on the bottom of people's lists are better represented. Choose your top 15, and I will compile the results in a week or so- excited to see what everyone picks!

To start, here are my top 15:

1. Attack on the Burrow

2. 12 Grimmauld Place

3. Hogwarts Express Collectors' Edition

4. Privet Drive

5. Diagon Alley

6. Rise of Voldemort

7. Polyjuice Potion Mistake

8. Astronomy Tower

9. Hagrid's Hut

10. Clock Tower

10. Great Hall

11. Ministry of Magic

12. Chess

13. Beauxbaton's Carriage

14. Shrieking Shack

I just finished the Harry and Hermione buildable figures. They look really cute but that was a surprisingly complicated build - I had to re-do both of their hairstyles several times because I'd missed pieces out.

Also, I wondered, has anyone bought the Five-Minute Builds book? Is it worth it and does it have any good ideas?

This list is getting harder each year and there are definitely some not on my list which have fantastic figures (Umbridge Encounter, Hospital Wing etc), but this is my top 15 of sets that I like for their overall contribution to the theme i.e. Builds and minifigures.

1) Diagon Alley

2) Attack on The Burrow

3) 12 Grimmauld Place

4) Hogwarts Express - Collectors' Edition

5) Beauxbatons' Carriage

6) The Ministry of Magic

7) Knight Bus

8) Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue

9) Shrieking Shack and Whomping Willow

10) Hogsmeade Village Visit

11) 4 Privet Drive

12) Clock Tower

Excited? No. But intrigued? Definitely. They might make for some useful or interesting printed tiles. And if there are going to be Dots sets, then it can't harm to have a Harry Potter one.

Here is mine, just a rough feeling based on how much fun I have had with each and value for money etc:

1 Hagrid’s Hut

2 Astronomy Tower

3 Hogsmeade Village

4 Chamber of Secrets

5 Clock Tower

6 12 Grimmauld Place (haven’t built this yet)

7 Attack on the Burrow (haven’t built this also)

8 2018 Great Hall (still the best version)

9 Privit Drive

10 Hospital Wing

11 2020 Advent Calendar (Yule Ball)

12 Shrieking Shack

13 First Flying Lesson

14 Dumbledore’s office

15 Ministry of Magic (great figures but the build is not fun for me, rooms are too small to use and the towers fall apart easily)

I’m noticing everyone has Attack at the Burrow as one of their top sets. It’s one of the few builds I don’t have (I’ve stuck exclusively to castle builds). Can someone tell me why this build is one of their personal favourite builds?

For me, Burrow is one of the only HP sets (with Diagon Alley) that has both a fantastic exterior and interior.

The exterior is probably my favourite of all HP sets with the warm colour scheme and clever building techniques. The designer did a fantastic job capturing the wonky feel of the building. It also utilizes stickers well. There are’t too many of them and each has a good reason for being included (i.e. the window stickers).

The interior is also very good. The space is used smartly, including as many brickbuilt details as possible. The grandfather clock is a highlight. The interior also feels very cramped, which is appropriate considering how it is described and portrayed in the books and films.

The lack of detailing on the minifigures is the only real downside. However, the quality of the build easily overshadows the issues with the minifigures.

For me I like the build because of the bright colours coupled with the fact that they managed to get the wonky angles of the house. Then add to that the fact that the location is a big part of the story and has a very warm feel and you create a set that I love. Which is saying something as I primarily love minifigures and the ones in the set could be better e.g. Harry, Ron, no skirt printing for Bellatrix or Molly.

Like others have said, The Burrow has both an amazing interior and exterior (which is not always very common for Lego) and captures one of my favourite places in the Wizarding World wonderfully (even including nods to the books with some of the stickers). The minifgures leave a lot to be desired, and I wish it included Mrs. Weasley's kitchen sink, but it's definitely one of the best Lego sets; and improves upon the 2010 iteration of it.

I haven’t built mine yet but from what I can see and the reviews I have read its up there because of the detailed, complex but sturdy build which makes a faithful exterior and playable interior. It follows the ‘dollhouse’ style with an open side but then also has the hinged living room area for more access. Loads of prints, appropriate stickers and lots of colourful parts to make the inside busy with all the details you could expect. It’s a model I can’t relay see myself adding much too if at all to improve it. Lots of Figures too with some rare characters which we have only 1 or 2 of even now.
