NEBULON-B Escort Frigate, 81cm long, 2593 pieces

Recommended Posts

Please excuse my mugshot in this post but a banana for scale just wasn't cutting it. I've just completed work on a pretty big Nebulon-B. A re-make of a midi scale version of the ship I created 3 years ago. Unlike that one however, for this model I matched it to blueprints and screenshots every step of the design and build process (see final image below). The Nebulon-B turns out to be a far sleeker and streamlined ship than it appears to be at first glance. Hopefully I've captured some of that with my build.

Instructions are available on Rebrickable here:

Thanks for looking. :)

Superb rendition. Probably the best I have seen. Your Mocs are always a bit special.

That's a proper sized Nebulon-B. Your attention to all the details of the shape are to be commended. Great work!

Thanks. I really should take some close ups of that little fella,

Thank you. It was a bit of a milestone build actually where I realised I either had to do my best to do it properly or not do it at all. Which was where the whole ‘matching to blueprints and screenshots’ came from. First time I’ve really tried to do a moc to that level of accuracy. But it won’t be the last.

...and now it is featured on brother-bricks - and has totally deserved it. Best rendition of Nebulon-B from my point of view

@Rubblemaker How do you think this compares in size to the Brick Vault version? It looks like yours has around 25% of the pieces that the Brick Vault version has.

I don’t think, as of yet, Brickvault or 2mpaired have published the actual dimensions of his amazing version. And I don’t recall him telling me the size at any point (I speak to him on Instagram sometimes) however I’ve done a quick assessment and if we look at a common feature of both, which is the long black strip along the ground that connects the front and back stands. By counting the tiles I can see his is 82-84 studs long whilst mine is 58 studs long.

I can’t really tell you exactly how that will translate to the overall dimensions of his build but for sure mine is significantly less pieces, and smaller overall of course (though it still has a pretty hefty footprint taking up an entire shelf of a large IKEA unit I use to display on). Which it was always meant to be. Mine is created for builders who would like a large, highly detailed and super accurate, yet still very affordable Nebulon B. This influenced the usage of only common pieces throughout as well. I wanted as many people as possible to be able to build it.

Thanks. That’s really nice to hear. When you spend weeks/months of your life pouring your heart and soul (and sanity) into something, it’s great to hear that people appreciate the final product.

Never really wanted a lego Neb B until now, this is a real beauty, large without being so big I could not find room for it, detailed without being so much it's a organ donation to get the parts - great job, looks awesome and I now have my 2023 "biggie" sorted I think.

😄 I created it to only cost as much as ‘non-essential organs’ so it’s good to know that worked. 😂👍

This is such a great looking build. Nice job. I am not sure if I would have the space for it but might build this in the future. I have a spot currently for it but once I build the UCS ISD, that is in the closet, that spot would be gone.

Ah yes. Available display space. The achilles heel of every LEGO enthusiast the world over. Well I can’t help you with that I’m afraid. But I can help with the cost because mine costs a lot less to build than the UCS ISD retails for.

Also, here’s another picture of it. Because, reasons:

Beautifully done, Rubble. Have you considered doing a GR-75 rebel transport to go along with it?

Yes, in fact I've considered making the whole rebel fleet to scale with it. Which is very likely what I'll be doing next. :)
