Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion

Recommended Posts

Well, thank to a German catalogue we got a leak of the Passenger plane set, it includes a mostly white plane, elevated this time, included with the set are a (bus?) and some other assistance vehicles, it doesn't seem to have an airport included (sadly) but the plane seems to have more passenger space. The plane is shorter than the 2020 plane, and has a small cargo compartment in the back, a small 4 stud wide compartment. Finally the tail of the plane looks really different this time as it's posed in a angle.

There is no full image of the set.

If you're curious to see the set, go to Promobricks instagram page

Also there are no images of the 3 racing sets.

The old way LEGO did it was NinjaGo would be released in June in the USA and August in Europe and City would be released in June and then August for USA. It's probably a supply thing so LEGO can make enough sets for launch.

The plane is weird, there is no back fin and the back flaps go up? Very odd. But it's not horrible.

Also there are no images of the 3 racing sets.

I would recommend that you remove that link, since linking to leaked images can get you banned!

The leaked set descriptions were accurate as always, so it's not a surprise what we're getting in the end, but I'm still not a fan of the huge ships or planes.

I was hoping that with the modular system City will be a bit smaller like it used to a few years back and some long missing structures like a cargo dock, wharf or airport will reappear. The animals are of course great!

I was wondering where the 300 extra parts compared to the 2020 plane would go. Looks like they went into the V tail, better wing fairings, taller landing gear, bigger engines, and the driverless people mover. The tall landing gear and the big engines look good, but the V tail ruins it. Of course I could buy the set and mod it to have a standard tail configuration. But, you know, I'd rather it came that way out of the box.

I just noticed that the 20 Euro car wash is $33USD and I'm sure the Arctic Lab will be 50 Euro while $75USD. There is no exclusive for that megablocks pricing when the USD's prices don't include a VAT or any taxes.

LEGO is losing out on a lot of my money.

Not a fan of the tail. Never seen a passenger plane like that. Shame, as otherwise it looks decent.

The airplane at least some more seats I'd assume, the 2020 plane used like 80% of the space for Cargo/Staff due to it's design.

On this new airplane , the wing is placed lower, like some people already did to convert the 2020 plane to allow a lot more seats.

I do like that they went for a full white fuselage , makes the nose looks a lot better compared to the white/blue split.

As for the tail design, I don't mind City doing some different things, that aren't 100% based on real-world designs, the 2020 plane also had a tail that was quite small.

The plane gives me airbus vibes

Definately, with that nose shape introduced in 2020, and this white / darkblue color scheme , it does look like a Airbus factory color scheme.

The Cirrus Vision jet is a real plane that I have seen fly IRL with a V tail, but this was done to get the tail out of the way of the top center mounted jet exhaust. This new city plane does it because it looks cool (can't say they're entirely wrong), but what bothers me is the proportions. The cabin width to engine diameter is pretty good, but with the smaller wings (new mold?) and shorter fuselage it just looks weird. IMO at that length, with that wingspan, it needed a 6 wide fuselage

I know it's a real design on smaller airplanes, just nothing in terms of large airplanes have had it so far, altho the AN-225 had which was the largest airplane ever (at least by weight) , did have a combined V-tail with 2 vertical stabilizers attached to it.

After doing some more searching, from what I could find, the Comac Ling Bird model looks the most similar (it was a scale model that could fly)

Well, thanks to a bit of search I found a better image of the upcoming Passenger Plane set (a wider image of the catalog photo), basically the set includes 3 vehicles,  a airport Tug, the shuttle we've already seen, and a luggage carrier.

The luggage carrier is a small 4 studs wide cart fully closed on all sides, the vehicle is able to pull 3 trailers: the stairs trailer we've already seen in the first image, a luggage carrier trailer(it's the thing that could be seen in the lower right corner of the image) and a trailer with a elevator to help pick up and load the cargo in the back of the plane, it's smaller than that one from the 2020 plane. And finally.... there's another minifigure that was hidden in the leak.

The new sets aren't listed yet on the Japan website... But looking at the prices on the US store, I have a bad feeling.

They're listed for August on the US site. Thus why I'm disappointed. I made plans to buy that house.

See? That's my problem. Everywhere except North America. Even Asia gets them in June. It's disgraceful. Us American AFOLs should protest.

Yeah the release date is disgraceful and not the completely stupid high, based nothing on greed, prices aren't the reason to boycott.

Which I am boycotting the sets, I'm not buying them.

Release date for US/CA probably will be better once that US factory is complete, North/South America only have 1 factory for the region, while Europe has 3, and Asia has multiple now as well with more being built.

Even Friends has this 4+ Horse Training , or the 4+ Star Wars set seem to be pushed to July 1st in US , (June 1st in Europe) , so there seems to be some priority in play.

And while parts for sets aren't strictly made in 1 location, there's still logistics in play, especially shown during Covid when Mexico factory was closed, they had to ship in sets from European/International boxes with stickers on them for the parts counts ,which is a US/Canada rule.

LEGO mostly has 2 "regions" for it's sets with different box print and different paper sizes for instructions (V29 International and V39 North America).

Most notably US region boxes having parts counts and also mostly text in English/French/Spanish , as well as different safety and quality control logos etc.

And different regions does go back a long time, as there used to be a time where Pirate Cannons in US weren't able to shoot.

Why City got pushed instead of something else, I don't know, but there have been cases of different release times for Ninjago, Harry Potter or 3-in-1 in the past as well, generally always between the June / August periods.

This time, it looks like Ninjago and Harry Potter do get June releases in US, while that has been different in the past before.

I think i did ask for recommendation for a fire truck set but i can’t remember which one you already suggested.

So I will ask for recommendation for a fire truck set, please.

Personally, I am hoping we would get a Great Vehicle ambulance set.
