According to who, exactly?

You may not like Disney-era content, but that does not mean that “most people” do not; also, I feel like many tend to forget that Rebels is from the Disney era!

Or even more so, people forget Clone Wars Season 7 is also the Disney era

However, while HR might be less popular I do think we have a chance at getting a set from the era simply because the Acolyte is coming out next year and every D+ series has got at least one set around their respective releases so HR should be no different.

I suspect that we will be getting more High Republic sets in the future, since The Acolyte is on its way, and multiple established HR characters are set to feature in Young Jedi Adventures. Also, we have gotten one YJA set, and there is a second coming out next year, so the High Republic era is represented in LEGO form.

True, but the concept art and animatics were done pre-Disney.

Fair enough, But some stuff (Mostly in siege of mandalore) was changed when they actually made it, like the beginning of the first episode in that arc referencing the last jedi. I think that largely changed since that arc didn't get an animatic like bad batch had, since it was still two seasons out from releasing when clone wars originally got cancelled.

Good point; things like Maul deflecting blaster bolts with the Force, Ahsoka’s “I am one with the Force and the Force is with me”, and the use of “Fulcrum” as a code name/encrypted channel by both Saw and Ahsoka were definite Disney-era additions.

Which part? Anakin’s false surrender? I feel like that is pretty in-character for him per the rest of the series.

It's the mirroring of shots rather than him acting any different, from the way he walks out to the large blasters pointing at him. It's more subtle than some other things but its still a deliberate callback

Comically wrong. I say that as someone who doesn't like Disney Star Wars. Just because your echo chamber says that, doesn't mean the average "my favourite scene is when the storm troopers save Sam Jackson in the helicopters" or "is this the one where they kill the big grey dogs" casual star wars fan agrees. Hardcore fans largely don't like disney stuff, harcore fans make up 90% of pointless internet discourse but like 1% of the actual fanbase. Rise of Skywalker, a movie which every hardcore fan pretty much hated, knew was going to suck and screamed about it sucking before, during and after the movie, made a billion dollars.

Even this is not really correct; “Disney stuff” really only seems to mean the ST (and maybe some of the shows that fell a bit flat) when it is criticised.

Exactly! 👍

Back on-topic, the Animal Crossing sets that are releasing in March 2024 have just been revealed, so we can probably expect some leaks soon!

As someone who has grown up with Star Wars closer to the disney era, I can guarantee that Kotor isn't as popular as it used to be. Younger fans are not going to have the same reverence for a character that released well before their time. However, I still don't think that they are going to make a high republic character as a part of this line, more so because the era is almost exclusively books at the moment (even though that is changing some point next year) and books simply do not have the reach that movies, shows, and games have. I more just think its silly to write off new releases entirely when Lucasfilm is still clearly fully pushing the era.

Ultimately I think it's hard to gauge the popularity of something like Kotor Nowadays, with it being as old as it is. So I would say that Lego isn't trying with these figures to grab the interest of literally every star wars fan out there. But I do think they will likely skew more towards older content with these, and not anything very recent.

Expensive non-adult Lego sets are largely designed for adults to buy for their kids. As such, a kid’s $100 R2D2, which is something a kid is familiar with, and a Malak, which is something the adult buying the set is familiar with, is a convenient two birds one stone approach. It’s also the reason Indiana Jones sets from RoTLA exist, nostalgic parents buy sets that remind them of their youth for their children, it’s certainly not because the younger generation has watched the classics

So Renown said that there was another clue they could give that would “put the cat among the pigeons” which would suggest controversy - I wonder if there’s any characters that wouldn’t be wanted in Lego form by most of the people on this forum?

It’s promising that there’s no hint of variants of already existing characters so far - maybe all the anniversary figures are characters who haven’t been done before?

Is the absence of variants confirmed? I'm gonna give a crazy guess to the controversial fig: some battle droid variant we never got. Roger, roger!

I think his hint that it would be controversial just meant the fact that the fig was Malak in a $100 R2-D2 set.

A word to the wise: if you lack the intelligence to interpret the nuance in an "unnecessary riddle", it's probably best not to slate people in Discord servers.

What sets could anniversary figures come in for May? I would assume 75381 Buildable Droideka would have one and possibly 75378 Grogu's Escape or the May 4th promo but everything else seems like it wouldn't have anything. Fells kinda weird how spread out these figs are going to be assuming they continue into summer.

That does seem strange i agree. But maybe it’s not avoid front loading the figs in the year.

i can’t really remember how it was before, but my recollection is, the sets were from 1 wave, but at that time there was simply the winter and summer wave?

Hopefully we see some Jedi and ST characters, or at least that these are all figures we never got before.

The comment about one figure being controversial makes me think wither Jar Jar or Rey as these two characters often upset some fans.

Darth Jar Jar 😏

And ya all the 20th-anniversary figures released in an April 1st wave besides the polybag Kenobi

LifeBricks suggested the other day that Mando Season 3 Gideon is coming out in 2024: "We don't need Moff Gideon in that [UCS Tie Interceptor] set." Earlier in the video, he (less confidently) speculated that one of the unknown sets could be Mando Season 3 related.

*dramatic head turn*

How reliable is he? I need this to be true :excited:

Also: Are we sure the hint about controversy was in regards to Malak being in the R2 set? Because few (if any) people seem to have strong feelings about that  I’m reading the hint as setting the forum on fire, which requires something a bit more spicy!

LifeBricks is fed things, the problem is, it’s from many many sources, not a few credible ones.

You can also tell by his discourse and tone when he knows legitimate info or not, and purely on speculation I would say the Moff Gideon stuff is likely.

Life "I'm pretty sure the swamp speeder will have luminara unduli, rex and 2 super battle droids" Bricks is pretty much a 50/50 on whether his info is good. He was right about white clones in the upcoming battle pack but then so was i and I am also not a reliable source of info.

Regarding the anniversary there's no chance HR gets a fig because these figs are about celebrating the last 25 years of LSW and thus we are for sure getting a PT, OT, & ST anniversary fig meaning with Malak & Fives that's at least 5 figs. I don't see them doing more than 5-6 figs and even if they do Mandalorian, RO & Solo, D+ series, & Video Games will take precedence over High Republic books. Also, the average LSW fan will definitely know more about KOTOR than HR because a best-selling video game will be more popular than a poorly-sold book even if the book is newer. However, while HR might be less popular I do think we have a chance at getting a set from the era simply because the Acolyte is coming out next year and every D+ series has got at least one set around their respective releases so HR should be no different.

I agree that we should expect at least 1 figure from the OT and 1 from the PT, plus 1 from the last 10 years of Star Wars stuff

What would you guys say would be the most-wanted character for each era? In terms of demand I’d say it’s:

Original Trilogy: Nien Numb

Prequel Trilogy: Dexter Jettster

Last 10 years: Saw Gerrara

I agree it's wanted, but I would think they would save that for an Andor set? He's bound to appear there again.

(Maybe we get to see that black/grey x-wing in action... would make for a very cool set, with Saw and Tubes imo.)

S3 Moff is a pretty safe guess, though; we got him before, and his Mando Dark Trooper suit is too cool for LEGO not to make. I am not sure that Lifebricks actually knows anything. 🫤
