y'all have to be very wealthy to buy multiple of these sets in the first place, i get that some of you want the generic one for MOCs, army building and stuff, but you realistically aren't gonna get more than maybe 3 of these anyway, move on.

I mean, I'm doing OK but my Lego collection/budget came exclusively from a COVID side hobby of aggressively finding good deals, keeping a few things, and selling the rest.

Believe it or not, it's possible to buy a handful of $149.99 MSRP sets and it not be irrationally, irresponsibly throwing around money:

  • I understand 5-10 sounds like a lot but I sold my 2 last year. When I find the new version for 20% off (as all USA sets eventually do), those 2 ships quickly become 4 ships. After I sell the 12 named characters from those first 4, that's enough for a 5th set w/ a Fox, Palpy, & Padme for myself.
  • Another example: When the Trash Compactor diorama came out, I found a 20% off deal, I sold 3PO, R2, Luke, Han and replaced them with older versions. It ended up only costing me $20 for Leia, Chewy, and the scene itself - plus the time spent (a) keeping an eye out for deals and (b) selling the minifigs.

I'm personally frustrated because the LAAT/i is the only large ship I've been planning, biding my time on to purchase in high quantities. It has nothing to do with being rich; it's just about wisely managing the resources I do have.

  • No, most people don't do this but there's a lot of Lego activity on the secondary market; I'm far from the only non-scalper participating to make the hobby more affordable.
  • Custom Clones are often like $30 each (I've never bought more than accessories myself) and the market is supporting quite a few of these small businesses.
  • There is lots of money in the hobby, and specifically in the Clone Wars universe. I mean, jees, we've seen how much Lego has pivoted into Clone production as a result of sales.

However you want to look at it, there's plenty of evidence that there are more than 30 people who are willing to go heavy.

Oh, and I'll probably buy the Boba Fett mech if it's OT w/ arm printing because then I could sell the MBS Cloud City version - a trade that'd give me enough Lego budget to buy another Gunship!

All the speculation, then the April's Fools bombdrop turning out to be real and the following discussion made me forget that a 200 €/$ Chewbacca is still a real and confirmed thing =D

I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic about the next waves, although I'm once again excluding the dioramas from my future purchases. My wallet is definitely not happy about the amount of 100+ money sets I'd like but then again summer season means paid overtime, I should be able to splurge a bit coming september.

Basing my choices on what we have actually seen pictures of so far:
- I do like the TIE v.s Fang set, although I would probably look for mods to make the fang fighter cockpit spin once I buy it;
- the 4+ yoda temple is cute and has interesting characters but is not a priority and there is no way I'm spending more than 25€ on it, let alone 43;
- the Executor looks like a nice display piece and would tempt me for 50€, not for 70€;
- dioramas are quite meh and as already stated by many a bit overpriced;
- UCS is not my thing so the X-Wing is out;
- I do like the Bo-Katan in the Spider Tank-droid-thing and I'm seeing it's potential to be changed to a CIS something to go against the loads of clones we've been getting lately;
- the Pirate fighter has (only) two nice figures but does not spark my interest very much and just serves to remind me I'm still waiting for new, caped and non bug-eyed Hondo Ohnaka =D

Regarding the rest I've learned to wait and actually see them before forming an opinion, although I'm from the camp who would have preferred a regular LAAT. Guess I'll have to start hoarding lime and white pieces to see if a conversion is possible.

OCTOBER 2023

 • 75367: [Venator Star Destroyer UCS] (650€, 5374 pcs)

No. I want a $70 midi scaled Venator like the upcoming SSD, not a full UCS model.

I saw this MOC. https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-18951/KristofPucejdl/venator-class-republic-attack-cruiser/#details

Anyways I spend too much time on this forum. I'm trying to cut back on screen time. So I'm leaving. Goodbye.

Best set of 2023 and it's not close (at least so far)!

I don't really buy non-prequel stuff but that Tie Interceptor is very tempting.

I already loved the set, but after the review it’s an instant purchase.

I smiled all the way through the video as it’s Lego at its very best.

I’ll see if Lego dropped the ball with any figures (design or a failure to include specific characters) but right now it’s a 9.5/10 easily.

Bro SAME hahaha it's just SO well done. Honestly, I even like the figures. I'm more impressed with the fact we got two really good looking (and solid) ships in one set...it'll defs be worth the price.

Haha I’m sure many more will do the same!

Yes, I like the figures too. I’ll just be looking at seeing if they were the best we could have got, nothing more.

I always think about myself as a child when it comes to sets and this is the perfect gift alongside getting the N-1 Starfighter and the Pirate Snubfighter!

Further, imagine if both sets were released separately. Whilst we might have gotten an extra figure overall, the price would have been Atleast £$10 more, minimum. More likely, £/$20.

I hope they do more of this sort of set in the future, especially Prequel-era…

Pleasantly surprised with the fang fighter/interceptor. I imagined it would look good but I'm legit shocked they're not trying to charge $120 for this. $100 in 2023 for two great starfighters and a fair minifig selection is astonishing lol

I agree with this. No one is expecting people to buy tons of Gunships, but the color scheme is irrelevant.

That's fair. Army builders are meant to bolster your standard troops, so it's only reasonable to expect more of them in such a set.

It's like if they did a blue squadron X-wing (or I guess more comparably, if the TIE interceptor this wave was Royal Guard instead of normal.) I get the grumbling, but in the end it won't really change much.

Yeah, for the sets that are 100% army builders, I prefer standard troops with a few specializations. Something like the 501st specialists pack or first order pack with the flametrooper and officer isn't all that bad to me, but something like the Infearno squad pack, where 1 copy gets you all infearno squad members, or the 2018 jedi and clones pack just seem too far out of the realm

What is everyone planning on purchasing based on the rumours currently?

Entirely depends on finances, but these are my tiers:

Definately: Throne room diorama. Maybe: Either Yavin IV, or the gunship. If things go really well, both.

Most of the mando sets just don't interest me, and I already have a ghost, so I don't think I'll get another. The smaller ones like the boba fett mech and swamp speeder interest me, but they seem outrageously overpriced, so I'm not gonna get them, most likely.

About the fang fighter + TIE, it's pretty brilliant. My only complaints are:

1. R2-E6 should have been something else, or if it turns out to be significant, there should just have been a 5th figure.

2. Fang fighter's wings don't move.

But that's it. That is all. Everything else is great.

Damn that Fang Fighter vs. TIE Interceptor set is beautiful. It really speaks to the quality of both models that I don’t even care about the minifigure selection being lacklustre.

Not only is the exterior design of both ships excellent, but the cockpits are detailed too! I’m a sucker for well designed cockpits, it just helps with the immersion of the ship - even with simple details like translucent cheese slopes to represent consoles, instrumentation panels, etc.

Solid set all around. Shame about the lack of rotating wings for the Fang Fighter, but I’ll attribute that towards the constraints of the set’s price point and piece budget rather than a lack of attention to detail. Heck, I’m even softening up towards the new darksaber mould. It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done.

Anyone heading to Celebration? I’ll be there for all four days and can’t wait.

Minifig list and some details for the Yavin IV Temple have surfaced in IG (attributed to stonewars):

Temple: Ceremony Hall, Hangar, Watchtower, Mini Y-Wing, one other room (my guess is either the control room or the briefing room, though I am am leaning towards the former, since the briefing screen can be incorporated into the hangar).
Minifig: Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, General Crix Madine (what???), 3x Rebels (not clear if they are Fleet Troopers, Honor Guard, or a combination of both), 3x Pilots, Ground Crew member, and an Astromech.

BTW, I already contacted u/FluffySky6 to see if the pilots could have the dual-moulded legs from the UCS X-wing; I will update when I get a response.

Wait, what is this?

There's been so much news the past few days that I haven't seen anything on this.  Is it from one of the LEGO Holiday Specials, or the OG Holiday Special?

It's from the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special from 2020. It kinda went under the radar with all the other news. No set number attached or price attached. It's been described as a "promo type of set", whatever that means. Supposed to come with Rey, Finn, Chewie and BB-8.

As for the Fang Fighter Vs. TIE Interceptor, I think I may have been a bit too harsh on it when pictures first leaked. I still have some of the problems with it (the price, the incredibly lackluster minifigure selection and I was right about no rotating wings on the Fang Fighter), but man, those builds look really good. That TIE Interceptor especially looks gorgeous. Assuming I can get a good discount on it at some point, that would be an excellent one to get multiples of to build up both your Mandalorian and Imperial fleets. Hopefully it shows up at Costco for $60 like the two Boba Throne Rooms I got around this time last year.

I am not entirely sure that I believe it, though, due to the inclusion of Crix Madine.

That's some good stuff. Very much looking forward to this set. Also, 15 total figures! Crazy!

I feel like it’s a possibility that it’s correct and someone mixed up the names between Dodonna and Madine.  I remember someone saying it included “the same general as the X-Wing” (which I think is to be expected) but since Dodonna wasn’t listed there, I feel like it’s probably just a case of someone confusing the two names.

I hope so; Madine would be a good addition to an A-wing or B-Wing set, but to include one of the RotJ Rebel leaders in Yavin IV and have it not be Mon Mothma would be immensely frustrating!
