LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Recommended Posts

OK so I finally got Battlefront II (new version) to work and played it several times with a friend of mine. I must say that my interest in the clone specialist BP has grown exponentially.

Will we ge tAhsoka sets next year since the series starts next year to?

Sure. LEGO has covered all live-action Star Wars series so far, so I don't see why we wouldn't get any sets.

We don't know if we'll get them next year tho. If the series airs late 2023, we could see the sets in January 2024.

We've only got leaks for the first half of 2023 so far, so there's still the possibility of Ahsoka sets in the August wave.

The Andor set was a summer release, though the show was originally said to be August 31st and then was delayed 3 weeks.

Ashoka is also an already established popular character who won the vote for that brick head thing. Lego often does questionable things but they have to know sets with an adult Ashoka minifig will sell. I think we could easily see it as the 2 half of the year exclusive. 0 chance something won’t exist by winter 2024 though.

I'm no expert, but I would guess you'd be lucky to get less than $30. C3P0 from the UCS Landspeeder is going for around $20, but he is in a cheaper set and has a ton of different (less expensive) variants.

Not sure on exact value, but in the past, with exclusive figures in expensive sets (such as figures from the Cantina or Cloud City), it seems like the resale price starts off very high when the set initially releases, then drops a little bit and eventually stabilizes once the set has been out for some time and is widely available (with the Cantina, for example, it sold out almost instantly and was out of stock for a while, so minifigure prices stayed high for a little while until it became easier to get the set).  However, once the set retires, resale prices are likely to go back up.

Essentially, I would suggest waiting a little bit before you buy (the set itself is likely to have a shelf life of at worst a year, but more than likely at least two years or more) in order to get the best deal.  Just don't wait until it retires.

It's really hard to predict these things, but I'd put it higher than $30. Kuiil is probably the most desirable minifig that's appeared in one of these UCS sets so far, not because he's a particularly exciting character on his own but because he's the only one of the main cast of Mando that hasn't been available elsewhere. Lots of people are going to want to complete that lineup. The closest equivalent situation might be Zeb Orellios, the only member of the Rebels crew to be exclusive to the Ghost set, who goes for about $75 now. But it's impossible to say with any certainty until it happens.

Zeb is my White Whale. There are other, more expensive characters I want, but they're either easy to make purist customs of (Revan) or aren't part of a set "crew" (symbiote spider-man). My rebels collection is incomplete without Zeb, and yet as the amount I'm willing to spend to obtain him increases, so is the amount he goes for secondhand.

The figure itself isn't even that good, but that head is closer than any purple minifig head or brick-built abomination

Anyway, what were we talking about, Kuill? I'd place him at $50 to start, bottoming out around $20-25 and increasing exponentially once the set retires, or if he appears in other sets, cheapening dramatically.

@Legodude123, I'd suggest using the standard Ugnaught head and finding some similar torso on bricklink or in your own collection. You'd be missing the cap, but at least you wouldn't be paying $50 for a single minifig.

Well if you look for how much Cad Bane is going now, 40€, for a what 160€ set. Kuili get as well end up as high as 150€ for him, atleast initially and honestly pretty sure he wont start under 100. I will try to to find one of my chill pills somewhere and wait and hope he shows up somewhere during next year that will essentially redruce his price. It also becasue I know how frustrated I would be if I buy him for a rediculous high amount and then later you can get him an complete set for 50 or less. Like we have talked about before, its really rare that lego makes a unique character exclusive in a UCS spacecraft set, and if they do, not for long.

I would actually like to see some focus on The Phantom Menace next year.  I'd also like to see a set with  Clone Commander Bacara and the Galactic Marines.

A bit off-topic but how would you make a purist custom of Revan? I love the concept of purist customs, I made a purist Kyle Katarn last year before I even found out about the concept. Regarding Zeb I'm in the same boat, but I just don't see myself ever spending more than 15 euros on a minifigure; I rarely go beyond 5 actually. So I'm really hoping for a new Rebels set with him in it.

That would be pretty awesome, but it's never gonna happen considering its relative impopularity and all the new shows coming out. I would love a TPM battle pack though, we never had one from that movie.

Hold on, Cad Bane is a SUPER popular character among collecters. I don't think Kuill is gonna be at the same level of popularity. Even besides that, I don't think you can just assume he'll cost a fourth of the cost of the set just off one other figure. By that logic the exclusive Falcon figures should have all been $200, and I don't think they were nearly that high, were they?

It's not perfect, but here he is: (in spoiler for space as to not take up too much space for something off-topic)

The falcon only had some exclusive elements of characters released numerous times before so that is not a fair comparisson. Additionally I think u underestimate the desire for Kuill, though I hope Im wrong for the sake of our pockets. Its just gonna be a few days when the figure is out for sale, so will gonna find out which of us whos right very soon.

The only hope for Kuill is that we get a microfighter build with him and the Blurrg. He really should have been in the original Razorcrest, and with him only being in season one, he won't be in any future sets as they keep moving forward. Im sure if they did that, he would be slightly different, but personally I think they should!

I think Kuill may end up being only offered in the UCS Razor Crest.  While he is an important character in season 1 he doesn't have that much screen time and where he does appear doesn't really make that appealing of set options.  The only two potential sets that I could see him coming in would be a Blurg training set or possibly a microfighter set with the blurg.  But a microfighter style set doesn't make sense to me as it would literally be a recreation of that part of the UCS set, which I cannot see Lego doing.  Of the characters in the UCS set, the Mythrol has a better chance of coming out in another set than Kuill given the set options.  Now of course this could all change if for some reason he appears in another of the shows that are out there such as Andor or Asoka.   --- I have spoken.

But all of the Falcon's figures had modern releases by that point, they were only super detailed versions of themselves. Kuill has never appeared in a set and tbh I don't see him appearing in anything except an Advent Calendar soon. He won't be 150$ but I can see him costing a good chunk of change.

I know I'm beating a dead horse here but I guess this is confirmation that Lego is going back on their UCS minifigure policy?

Yeah, I don't really see him being that much.  I'm thinking initially Kuill and Mythrol will be like $40-60, but once the set's been out for some time, it will likely drop.  We saw that with the Cantina figures, and I realize that Ponda Baba or Garindan aren't the same level of popularity as Kuill, but they were also fan-requested characters only available in an expensive D2C set.  I expect the same price occurrence from Cad Bane, honestly, as that set has only been out for a couple of months, so there's plenty of time for that price to drop.  Interestingly, Cad Bane is actually cheaper on Bricklink than P2 Commander Cody, which is REALLY surprising to me, since Commander Cody has been highly requested for probably 5+ years now, the sets are only $20 apart in price, and also the AT-TE still hasn't really shown up in America (at least not at Target/Walmart type store).

Now, if there's no other release of Kuill, then the price will likely skyrocket once the Razor Crest retires.  I mean, just Lando alone from the Cloud City set is $200, then you've got Boba Fett costing like $125, Han and Leia are each $50+...those four figures already are the original cost of the set plus tax, with a little bit left over...
