Think very big, 125 for 7 1/4 gauge

Recommended Posts

For the 7 1/4 Garden Steamtrain I build this 125 Tipper in 5x Legosize.

This first version have no ballbearings and dont run really at this tracks.

Next year at the BSBT in Schkeuditz we hope to run a full LEGO  7 1/4 gauge train.

That's a fantastic idea, and executed very well! I'm assuming the parts are 3D printed? Could you fill it with normal-size LEGO bricks for cargo?

I've only recently started in the hobby of model engineering but I'm now wondering how I'd go about making my own

I'd love to see a full 7 1/4" train if you pull it off!

Yes the bricks are 3D printed, most parts in PLA the grey plates are PETG.

I take the 5 to 1 scale to be neare the 7 1/4 wide gauge.

By the way, the LEGO wood minifig was also  5x Legosize.

It is  5x too, now  with new wheels..

So it can run , only the couplings are still missing, for testing  I use some cable. .

But what you see is all of my tracks....

That must be one heck of a 3D printer! Fantastic result. I have a non-Lego 5" gauge ride on railway and it is great fun for kids of all ages. To combine that with Lego then... wow.
