Cincinnati Posted July 28, 2022 (edited) I wanted to build an island where every pirate could rest after his raid: in particular, I was inspired by the Lego comic "The Golden Medallion" (cod. 6255), when on page 9 Redbeard and his pirates dock on a bay to have a happy feast. The name of "Van Dyke Island" resumes that of the homonymous island of the archipelago of the Virgin Islands which owes its name to the dutch pirate of the seventeenth century who made it one of his refuges. On the island there are a tavern, a sleeping room, a warehouse, an armory and an attic. The total of the pieces is about 8700. Thanks for your attention! The Redbeards House was a piece of art, but this is even better I can only wait to see this out of the real bricks. How tiresome is to buy all this 8700 pieces from BrickLink? Cincinnati Posted July 28, 2022 Thanks Marin...I hope, as has already been for Redbeard's house, to buy the largest quantity of brickes directly from the Lego website (Pick a Brick) and the remaining ones on Bricklink. It is actually really boring to be able to put all the bricks necessary together, especially since I know that it will take a lot of orders to be placed. I notice the comic depicts the buildings as white with red roofing but your decision to go with brown and black is a much better choice. Granted the Golden Medallion was released 4 years prior to the Imperial Guards debut, but forever will I associate that style of architecture with the sub theme. (Thanks Imperial Trading Post!) Black suits pirates much better anyway, the darker colours give the architecture a more rustic charm, as rogue pirates to wouldn't build or maintain their settlement the same way a colonial empire would. You hit the point: I really like all the dark colors (and in fact I used for the buildings the dark red, the dark tan, the dark bluish gray and the dark orange), because I associate them more with rustic structures of the 16-17th century. Especially those little gems like the greenery that flows down the side of the house (+nest) and also the walkway made of tree grates. The red stone on the ground floor and above dark tan with gray is also a very good combination I hope, after successful construction, we can await the instructions here as well? BRAVO!
