RickyWasAYoungBoy Posted February 11, 2022 Hello Everyone! Ricky is back! Actually this AEM-7 engine I finished in 2020 together with the AmFleet Coach. [MOC] LEGO Amfleet I Coach - LEGO Train Tech - Eurobricks Forums In other words, the AmFleet is not complete without an Engine, and the AEM-7 is definitely the most iconic one. The AEM-7 originated from the Swedish Class Rc4. It was far smaller than its predecessors, GG1 and E60. On its introduction it was the "smallest and lightest high horsepower locomotive in North America." Amtrak ordered the AEM-7 after the failure of the GE E60 locomotive. The first locomotives entered service in 1980 and were an immediate success, ending a decade of uncertainty on the Northeast Corridor. Shupp's Version: MOC: Amtrak AEM-7 and Amfleet Coach - LEGO Train Tech - Eurobricks Forums Shupp has already done a perfect job with the AEM-7 and the Amfleet coach more 10 years back. It still looks pretty stunning from today's view. Mine is a different approach, especially with the tri-color stripe coating (instead of the silver-blue version). This version brings a lot of difficulties and limitation in terms of part picking for the body. It cost quite a lot of bricks. Bricks Count: 1708 pcs. Width: 9.6 studs (7.7 cm) Length: 50.1 studs (38.2 cm) Height: 29.6 studs (23.7 cm) Power: 2x PF L motors See other of my MOCs here ⬇ [MOC] SBB Re 460 locomotive - LEGO Train Tech - Eurobricks Forums [MOC] LEGO PRR class GG1 - LEGO Train Tech - Eurobricks Forums [MOC] REAL BRICKS - PRR class E44 - LEGO Train Tech - Eurobricks Forums
Barduck Posted February 11, 2022 Very nice looking engine, my only issue with it is are all the bricks with studs on one side and blue pins that you've integrated, I don't think they add anything to the solidity of the build. You could eliminate more than half of those with a very small change to the side walls while still retaining the look. Most definitely an engine I'd buy the instructions of if you decide to release them
Paperinik77pk Posted February 11, 2022 Spectacular locomotive, the three stripes are very well rendered, and the bogies are really a good compromise of look and functionality! First page well deserved!!! Ciao! Davide
ColletArrow Posted February 11, 2022 Wonderful! The cab windows are shaped incredibly well, with masterful smoothness despite the compund angle. Any plans to build her in real bricks?
bogieman Posted February 11, 2022 Very nicely done Ricky! Any thought to use a prototypical wheel size? AEM7's had 51" diameter wheels which would be #8 size at 1:48 scale from the wheel chart posted the below thread, page 2 I had some minor involvement at EMD with the design of the locos so always have been a fan of them. Their big wheels always gave them a special look. Dave

zephyr1934 Posted February 11, 2022 Great job getting all of the small angles of this toaster locomotive, impressive work
Feuer Zug Posted February 11, 2022 Excellent recreation of the AEM-7. You captured the design perfectly. Those grill tiles work wonderfully to recreate the sides.
RickyWasAYoungBoy Posted February 12, 2022 With the striped Amfleet coaches as well. I should really build the whole train in real bricks.
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted February 12, 2022 Impressive locomotive, I really like the bogies and their transmission system The front is beautiful and the strips made without resorting to stickers are the icing on the cake! The wagon looks perfect too ...I hope to see this beauty in real bricks!
Gray Gear Posted February 16, 2022 Huge props for the shaping of the angled windows! Very nice engine. Well done!
