Nice review, could you please explain the shift order?
On race bikes the shifting order is:
1
N
2
...
6
on street legal bikes it is:
6
...
2
N
1
Overall, it is not my favored bike.
Too big, too few functions. Taking design too much into account.
Big, nice but i am not impressed...

PS: facebook loves children

On my street legal bike (Yamaha YZF-R1) its 1 up and 5 down,

1

N

2

...

6

I will buy this model when a post has a link to a Chinese rear tyre that fits and is a more realistic width.

Sportbike rear tyres are massively wide in comparison to front tyres.

This Lego model is completely let down by the skinny rear tyre IMHO.

As for the stickerless version: Maybe changing the white panels with other colours will work..

As soon as i get me the model, I will give it a go!

Which is not very likely to happen IMO. Regarding wheel and tire sizes chinese brands still use the same measurements as TLG. One the one hand that is good because things are interchangable (like the cool CADA supercar tires), but on the other hand they use the same faulty sizes as TLG instead of making something more realistic.

If you are very lucky there is a RC tire that will fit, but do RC bikes in this size even exist?

Black version might look good.

With the instructions being published today, does anyone have any idea what is the deal with step 320? Why should the numbers on the axle connectors line up other than estatic reasons?

Axle connectors have a wider and a narrower end. And they have 2 flat and 2 curved sides. For a smooth appearance, you want to join like to like.

As far as I know there is no difference between the side with the number and the opposite side. Both sides are equal, so the part is symmetrical at the sides where the round hole is.

Possibly, it was purposed to ensure both pinholes are alligned correctly but for some reason the red circles were moved from the pinholes to numbers :look:

Great review! Just finished building this model myself, loved the build and the solutions that were used.
I think it's a great set to start build Motorcycle MOC's with.

Haven't put most of the sticker on the model because next week I will take it apart and start building my own Yamaha R1 version.
In the picture you can see my Ducati scale MOC Yamaha R1 together with the BMW, as an before picture!

Luckily 1:5 scale bikes ARE a common format... maybe the only real one out there..

@Milan Problem with pure black color is it eats visibility of most contours..

No wider rear tyre no purchase. Stupid Lego rear tyre width. Makes the whole model look totally unrealistic.

Not sure what you mean, the rear tire is much wider than the front one and even slightly taller.

Ok, just started building the bike and I’ve got two questions …

When did black friction pins lose their slot in them?

When did instructions start showing the dimples in parts? Eg the 3L connectors with 2 pins holes and 1 axle hole

The last Technic set before this I bought was the Lamborghini Sian.

The black pins were changed last year.

Having just picked this set up, I was examining the sticker sheet and accidentally dropped it, when I picked it up I noticed there is two sticker sheets, wow, that's a boatload of stickers. Got me thinking, is this the most stickers ever for a LEGO set?

Funny story I wanted this set so bad, I rode my bicycle 10 miles in the freezing rain to get it, what an adventure, lol.

Even though I have just started the build, I am very much enjoying it and I really like all the new parts and just the sheer size of the set. I actually expected more fanfare from this ground breaking set, instead of all the complaints about price and looks, still I can appreciate some of the scepticism as this is new territory for LEGO.

Also thrilled for many of the new pieces and already have several ideas for alternate uses, will be great fun and may eventually pick up a second set, when it goes on sale, something that is rare for Technic sets here in the Midwest USA.

Thanks for the great review, really helped me with my decision to get it.

It's not even close:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=1650stk02#T=C&C=0

A total of 155 stickers for a 220 piece set

Although for a Technic set, or set made with technic parts, it is. The 42125 Ferrari is probably second.

If anyone is interested, I found this Brickset article regarding stickers: https://brickset.com/article/56577/which-set-contains-the-most-stickers

Ok, that one is pretty absurd. Apparently every 2x3 brick posing as container has two stickers and then there's few more for the ship itself. Appears to be a pretty pricey collectible too.

But yeah, there's no rivaling 42130 in count of stickers among Technic sets...

You are correct, must have been the angles of the pictures I looked at.

Now purchased and awaiting delivery from Lego UK.
