Mobile crane, same scale and size as 42108, but much more functions:

  1. Steering with realistic angle (inner axle turns less than outer ones)
  2. Fake 6-cylinder engine
  3. Boom raising (pneumatic)
  4. boom extending (hold in position by axle)
  5. Winch (lock in position by rachet)
  6. Cab tilting

Only parts from set 42128 used, no cutting hoses or strings, no modifying parts.

I don't like to be a nerd (in its bad meaning) but had the 42108 set has axles with equal steering angles? I may recall it wrong but they had longer steering arms to decrease the angle too...

Mobile crane

Please reduce the size of the images. They are 4x the max allowed size.
I don't know what is going on lately, but we have had many topics with oversized images. Please all, take care of that, not everyone has unlimited or high speed Internet.

Good job coming up with an alternate and integrating pneumatics! It's a bit too similar to 42108 in places, but the added features make up for it.

Nice B-model! I like the addition of the fake engine and tilting cab, well done.

Yes, proportianal steering on all axles.

@mic8per_ how do the outriggers work? Same kind of kned-locking like mechanism as on the 42108? Or is it modified?

Yes, it's same, but a bit bigger

Yes, but it was steered by all axles, but this model has one driven axle that is not steered. In this case it's better to do steering like i did.

Ahh, so it has 1st axle steered at the full angle, 2dn and 4th at reduced and 3rd fixed-driven, right? I must excuse, as I didn't realize that working engine must be connected to something to be actually driven :snicker:

almost correct, the 4th axle is not reduced. I ran out of parts, and space (yes it is hard to fit al these functions to 42108 scale base.)

Is it ok now?
