Hedwig looks good, but there is still the smaller brick built set on the shelves. Potions look good but probably just stickers. Books OK but are an expensive stand. Those scarf things seem to be there to increase the parts count, they look terrible. Frog is ok but the wand looks crap.

And of course three exclusive minifigs in an expensive set, which designers apparently don't like doing. Yet still it is done.

Not gonna lie I was expecting the ‘Icons Collection’ to be a series of sets, so I’m disappointed it isn’t.  I would very happily buy an 18+ version of the iconic Hogwarts Express.  If it’s not now, it’s got to be coming in the relatively near future.

However, I still think this looks like an amazing set, but the choice of Hedwig as the main feature I consider stupid as we already have a smaller version, like @MAB said.

The two aren’t remotely comparable though. That’s like the 4+ X-Wing vs UCS one. The body was fine but the head is just strange. Thankfully I got it at half price. The scarf ends are certainly strange. I feel like they could’ve done something better to represent the Houses that would showcase all four in the model.

They are both brick built versions of the same character that will be on the shelves at the same time, at not too dissimilar scales. What is this new one, about 1.3x or 1.5x the dimensions? I think that means they can be compared, especially as they brought out the lesser one first and I doubt many people saw a better brick built Hedwig coming so soon and so would have bought the first one.

To me, that is quite different to comparing a 4+ set to a UCS set where each set is a single build. More like comparing a regular system set with a collective MBS type set if both are out at the same time. If Echo Base was released then they did Assault on Hoth a year later that would be similar. But not a 4+ vs UCS.

Ah, so that's why we got Golden Quirrel instead of Golden Dumbledore.

That is a really cool looking display set for a Harry Potter fan. I am not to much into it but I can definitively see the appeal.

This looks brilliant. The books look great, especially stacked. Hedwig is phenomenal. I liked the smaller version, but this blows that out of the water. The potion bottles look clever. The frog has great part usage/shaping. I don't love the scarf component, but since it is under the books, it works for what it is.

I don't really care for the golden figure gimmick, so while I normally do enjoy buying sets for the figures, I wouldn't be buying this for the figures. Odd...

I actually really like the shaping on the wand also. I think for the scale (and medium) they nailed it. Nothing will be perfect with LEGO, but this works well.

It won't be a day one purchase, but I'll definitely want to pick it up sometime.

Hogwarts Icons Collection or whatever it is… I honestly thought “icons” means a series of famous objects, not just random school supplies (except for Chocolate Frog). However, books stacked up, potion bottles, wand and a few more look look nice together.

but seriously, another Hedwig? Eh, what about…well, Herimone’s cat? Or Ron’s rat/owl? Ah well…

and I really don’t care about golden minifigures.

Sorry but this doesn’t scream “BUY ME” for me. My wallet just sighs out of relief.

I’m not really into Lego playsets and whatnot so the mainline HP stuff hasnt interested me much - but I love this set.

Honestly I have no idea why, it just looks very well put together in an “organized clutter” sort of way. Definitely a set I may have to pick up at some point

Whilst the owl looks very good, it's not for me.  I keep thinking as a lego collector myself, eventually they will release a set which peaks my interest.  but another money saver here.  I know there are a lot of harry potter fans, and they might buy this for the owl display piece. but I'm not sure how many people want the other filler stuff which is included here to boost the part count of the set and no doubt inflate the price?

Looks stunning and the chocolate frog card is a great way to present the golden Dumbledore figure. The Hedwig build looks great, and I see we have the 'stacked 1x4 panel' technique to represent pages of the open book. Both technically and thematically interesting and I look forward to seeing a detailed review.
