[OL - FB] A Dramatic Visit

Recommended Posts

"Now will you please put the outfit on?" Elise impatiently asked Emile.

Emile sighed inwardly. Somedays he wished he was back out in Terraversa with the war. Well, perhaps not that exactly. Or maybe yes. By the gods that was a good time. Yes, he could die at any time, but the thrill was incredible. The last time he felt a thrill like that was when he was pirating, er, privateering, he corrected himself. That was a lifetime ago. Maybe not. He ran into his old captain while in Terraversa. "Why do I need to wear this again?"

"You're the mayor of Nouveau Oleandia," his wife replied as she adjusted his jacket. "You need to look respectable. You mustn't look like you just stepped off a battlefield or a warship whose decks were slick with blood."

"But I did..." He whispered to himself.

"I heard that." Elise turned away to adjust the rouge on her cheeks. "And you did not just return. You've been back for some time. At least you shaved that stubble."

"I liked the whiskers."

"I did not, at least not for this appearance." Elise turned to her husband. "And wipe that scowl from your face."

"You look fantastic," he said as he took in the sight of her in her dark dress.

"Don't change the subject."

~~~~~~~~~
Elise had Emile keep his eyes closed in the carriage until they arrived at the secret location. She led him out and into the building. Well, he assumed it was a building. Emile could feel his cheeks burning from being escorted from a carriage.
Finally Elise sat him down and said he could open his eyes.
A theatre.
"We're seeing a play?" he asked, rather obviously.
"Not just any," she said with a smirk. "Now shhh. It's about to start."
"Where are the other patrons?" he asked as he turned in his seat.
"SSSHHHHH!!!" she answered.
Finally the actors came on stage. Emile recognized the actors, and the show, as it began. He recalled when he was assigned mayor of the town, Elise threw a party and invited the actor who played the main role. It was no play but an opera. But then...
Then the most unexpected happened.
"THAT I SNOT MY STRINGED INSTRUMENT!" the lead actor shouted, his voice strained.
"Is... is that a crocodile?" Emile asked. He knew the answer, but he couldn't help but ask. Nor could he hide the giggles.
Elise was not too keen on this development. "I don't recall this."
"Welcome to Nouveau Oleandia," Emile joked. "You never warned me about the crocodiles."
"I thought you read about them!"
"I was in a war. You think I had time to read about animals?"
"Are you actually laughing about this?" Elise asked increduously.
"... no..."
"I wonder how the stagehands are doing," Emile mused.
I like the angled stage with the curtain. The crocodile story and the faces of the minifigures are funny.
Thanks! I'd been itching to get back to the E+E storyline since Emile was off in Terraversa, and now that they're both back together in NO, I can really expand their story.
WoW! Excellent! :pir-love: We definitely need more cultural (insert theatrical) builds like that as theater was sort of like the TV of that era. I really like the fact that there is action and props behind the scene (the tail-less crocodile-"costume" is surely an awesome idea by the way) !!!
An idea for future reference, would be to add a one-or-two-plate-thick colored background that changes via pulleys (aka Lego ropes(?) or something (and put it at Lego Ideas for voting :pir-tongue: because it is a unique idea/build).
Great little build. Can't wait till you've got access to alligator Loki.
Thanks! Is this a marvel reference?
Thanks! I'm hoping to do more cultural builds as well, especially for NO. And that's a good idea! I'll try to come up with something for that!
Yep, one of the upcoming marvel CMF figs will have a small alligator with it.
I imagined something like this two-plate-thick background but with the latest addition of Dots and your experience, I guess you could do wonders.
@Ross Fisher Baby crocodiles! Cute bunnies! Lion cubs! Mischievous monkeys... Can LEGO animals be any more cuter these days?????
There's definitely a way to do it. I'll need some time and report back my findings. I'm notoriously bad when it comes to movement/technic stuff in builds, but I have gotten better.
They can certainly try.
Nothing will beat the original lego stegosaurus in cuteness. It's so blocky it's cute.
No need to use technic extravaganza stuff if you can avoid them. One could try this (or this part) and their cannon wheels in a single line or in "W" formation. I believe they are more in scale with minifigs. Then use a rope with those studs attached on their end and try to see if you could achieve a semblance of movement (or something similar). Aaaah, I so wish I could try this myself and come up with some results! :pir-bawling:
