Ok, I really think they could've done better on the DB5, especially on the sides and front. The side skirt area is not nearly curved enough, and the front is too flat. I'm not even going to go into detail about how much I don't like the headlights, they look too bug-eyed. If the headlights were the eyes and the grille was the mouth, the face kind of reminds me of Rowley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid. rowley

I feel like that may be too critical, and I must admit the rear and hood scoop looks great. I think I'll love this car after a few modifications.

As for the Charger, I love it. The 6-wide charger looked good, and this one looks even better.

I can definitely see myself buying both of these sets once they come out.

The DB5 looks fantastic! It looks like the front grill and all of the lights might be prints. The charger looks great too!

Still nothing about that mystery third car, I hope it didn't get cancelled.

This dont feel like regular speed champions sets, but more like knockoffs. It feels like straight out Cobi set especially DB5. I was very tempted to buy these two, but maybe I buy another speed champions from this year instead of these.

But stickers as grill of DB5? Why we need to suffer?

I'm not a huge fan of the Daniel Craig figure but since he has been the main Bond actor for the past 16 years and 5 movies (4 of them with the DB5) the choice does make the most sense

Playmobil currently has a Goldfinger Edition Licensed DB5 , so that could be one of the reasons there is no Connery figure. (speculation)

I do think the headlights, rear lights and grille are prints, but the number plates, and sides are stickers.

Some explanation about number plates in the DB 5 set :

BMT 216A - Goldfinger, Thunderball, SkyFall , Spectre
BMT 214A - GoldenEye , Tomorrow Never Dies
A 4269 00 - No Time To Die

In the first appearance in Goldfinger, Bond traveled from London through France to Switzerland so the car had revolving number plates to disguise itself.
4711-EA-62 - Goldfinger (France)
LU 6789 - Goldfinger (Switzerland)

56526 - Casino Royale, has the car as well but Bond gets the car from someone else , not included in this set.

Not sure what to think, the sets look like Speed Champions, moreso than licensed movie sets. I just hope this isn't a new way to yet again raise the prices on what used to be fun little inexpensive builds, which was one of the main draws for me to SC.

I don't really care for the Charger, the blower is way oversized and looks comical in a cartoonish sort of way, not Speed Champions style at all. The DB5 looks pretty damn good but I do see room for improvement, mainly in the back.

Apparently I missed the prices of these sets, do we know what they are?

On DB5 they could make the middle rack with a sticker or a print on the glass :) - it’s a difficult feeling for the Aston.
I understand that it is difficult to convey such bends (I tried it myself), but I do not like the result.
Although the view from the side and back is good. Only rear lights and a printed grille :(

Dodge only looks beautiful from some angles ...

I think reducing it is the easiest fix :)

They are literally LEGO sets tho... made of actual LEGO pieces

Because this is Lego not Cobi. 🤣

Cobi would have prints.

Very underwhelmed by movie releases.

I finally built the Lotus last night.  Not my favorite build, but it pops on my shelf.

I bet there will be brickbuild solution by cobi...Probably any other company will do it this way.

I awaited for figures of Bond and Dom... But looking at these low key effort cars I probably give it pass... Price increase it even make worse.

My impression of licensed Cobi cars at this approximate scale is that they are far more reliant on parts specific to one particular kit, one particular make and model of car.  A Cobi car might look better but it would not be a better build.  I don't say this to dismiss Cobi, because I think Cobi makes a lot of good sets.

I (and probably a lot of other people) would prefer Sean Connery to Daniel Craig as the Bond (James Bond) mini-figure to go with the DB-5. He's more known for using this car than Craig's Bond ever is... er, was!

I agree, but I wonder if Playmobil having a special "Goldfinger" DB5 set had anything to do with it. (this LEGO set still has the number plates from that movie however)

That said, Both Playmobil and LEGO have a DeLorean with doc/marty on the market currently, but the LEGO set isn't a minifig scale set.

I remember a Minifig scale DeLorean was rumored/speculated to be the 3rd mystery Speed Champion Movie Car 76913 but so far it hasn't been seen (LEGO CON ? ? )

Ohhh, that's what you meant.

I was just making fun of Lego for being over-reliant on stickers, when Cobi does actual prints.

This link goes to the 2022 Cobi product catalog.  Look at pages 35-37 for the cars they offer in this approximate scale and price (15 euro).

Brick-built? I don't think so. Not by a long shot.  That hood and front fascia are anything but brick-built.  The Lego Speed Champions James Bond Aston Martin DB5 kit # 76911 (phew, long name) may look kind of clunky, but it is FAR more brick-built than a Cobi car.  I probably won't get the DB5 or the Charger on day 1, but I'm interested in both of them.  I might get the DB5 for a friend and the Charger for myself.  Ironically, I already bought the purple 1970 Dodge Challenger from 2021 because it was the closest thing available to a black 1970 Dodge Charger.

What else is driving me crazy are lifestyle photos, DB5 has not alligned properly grill stickers and some pieces are not put together perfectly on both cars. Its really shame that they are lowering effort.

I thought the Charger looked alright until I saw the lifestyle photo from a low side angle. The car is raked forward with mostly high ground clearance, except for the big blocky plate/brick connectors (65635?) at each axle which nearly touch the ground and look awful. Why not use modified plate 2x2 with pinhole (2444/10247) instead?

That's what I use for my MOCs - or, if I must use Technic bricks, I finish the undersides with boat studs to lower their visual profile a bit. I totally understand using those giant axle pieces for stability, but I have always disliked their visual mass, too.

Is he? I'm pretty sure nowadays, most people would associate Craig with DB5.

So that those who bought the kit do not lose their refinement skills :))

I think that's a fair criticism.

But I do admire Cobi's willingness to crank out specialized molds when needed, and print on parts, instead of being avaricious penny pinchers like Lego.

Lego wants everyone to believe they'll go bankrupt if they spend a few more pennies on things, but it's a lie. I mean Megablocks and Cobi can do it. Usually the follow up lie for the Lego apologists is that Lego has higher material standards/quality or whatever but that's also not true. Cobi has every bit the clutch power as Lego, and don't get me started on Lego's bad color matching and scratched up parts out of the box, etc.
