I like the model, but I feel like this is a shortcoming of the rules, that you could use all that defining elements from original set like wheels, excavator buckets and pneumatic (the currently available/newer ones are different, I think?)

I'd love to see this set modernised, not just straight rebuilt with liftarms. Great job on it anyway and good luck!

About wheels I wrote some lines above. What about pneumatics? There simply aren't any other cylinders with this or similar range. The blue pneumatic pump wouldn't look well (and no-one sells it in my country). There are some newer buckets, though, but none of them were looking as well as the original ones. You said that's a straight rebuild with liftarms but IMO it isn't. I rebuilt it from zero and some similarity is the goal of the contest, isn't it?

Anyway thank you and good luck  either...

This has my vote!

I can still remember playing with it in the snow outside the house where I grew up, and it is one of very few sets from this time that I still have on display (even though it lacks a few parts that I borrowed for other projects). It was the pinacle of lego technic for me, an in my opinion there was no better sets before the studless parts was introduced. It is still firmly in my top 10 list, and I am definitely taking a shot at rebuilding it as a studless model.

I hope it is ok if I reverse engineer it from your pictures if you aren't planning on releasing instructions?

Maybe I'll make instructions but I'm a bit afraid of pneumatic hoses. :sceptic:

Anyway it's ok that you'd like to reverse engineer it (this could be the right thing that encourages me to make the instructions).

Thank you for your support!

I'll try to reverse engineer it then, and update any progress here. :) I'm going on vacation next week so I don't know when I'll find the time, but probably some time after I'm back in August.
