[OL - CH IV - CAT B] Art Gallery

Recommended Posts

The clerics looked around the gallery that had been constructed.

"Is it too simple?"

"No, it's a style A statement."

After the conflict, Nola Mar needed something to get life back into the area. Culture would do it, the clerics thought. So they built an art gallery. They commissioned works and bought some for the gallery.

"Say, isn't that a tavern?"

"I believe it is!"

Spoiler

I took a lot of inspiration from the Getty museum's Paneled Room for this. I love going there and seeing the artwork they have, and since the Getty has a lot of French or French-inspired works, I wanted to pay tribute to that in this. Build is 32x32.

The room with the candle holders looks nice. The pictures on the wall are an innovative idea.

Nice clean room with just the right amount of details to make it look real. You could potentially have added some ornamented overhang to the top of the walls to represent stucco and raise the walls a bit to make it looks like a higher ceiling.

The hanging drapes and lamps break up the walls nicely, and I enjoy your Lego art. It's slight confusing that the clerics are in the same colour as the statues. Do your statues reference some specific works, or are they original works?

Overall well done!

Thanks! Yeah, I was rushing to get this one done due to the deadline. As for the statues, the one layiong down is more of a reference to Venus Victrix by Canova.

I like the ornate frame around the painting of the building and the candles. Nice clean / open main space to allow patrons to focus on the art

You sure it's not the BoBS version of the dying Gaul: the dying Corrie?

I like all of the artwork you made: the statues and paintings. Like Bregir said though, perhaps a bit more ornamentation would've been nice, especially considering the source material and the fact that there's no part limit in Studio . However, it's totally understandable in the wider context of time constraints. All in all, it's a lovely build and the art really takes it to another level.

If it was the Dying Corrie, we'd have a shako :P

Next art gallery I make, I definitely want to do some more true builds for it and figure out a way to look them more painted in photoshop. I'm actually visiting the Getty Villa this Saturday and while it is definitely more Roman-esque (which at times fits OL), I'm hoping to get more inspiration.

I also love the candles: what parts are these pieces? I never saw this small flame before.

This one. It's been around since 2018, but I still rarely see it in sets I buy.
