Enson smiled.  "Nothing much, just some maintenance troubles. I've been around a bit though and can say that, as long as you can hold your own in a fight and are skilled in your areas of expertise, you'll do just fine here."  Enson settled into his seat at the bar.  "You're from Akharif you say?  Would you mind telling me what brings you here?"

Hold my own in a fight, huh, Decker thinks to himself, hand going to his waist. His gun was, well, not much of a gun at the moment, but it still had some solid heft to it. It'd work. Hopefully.

"Holding my own in my fight and skilled in my area of expertise.'Fraid that is sort of the same thing, as far as I'm concerned." Decker chuckles. "As for what brings me here, well, there's only so much desert a man can take in a lifetime. I didn't mind the lifestyle. I just needed... Something new, I suppose. Heroica seemed like a ticket for that. They cover the tab for travel, y'know. As for whether I'm good at this heroism thing, I guess we're due to find out eventually."

"Hmm.  I suppose you could say I'm here for the same reason.  I felt the need to see more of the universe and... I couldn't stay on Vin'quo.  Not after the war."  He was silent for a moment, lost in his own thoughts.  Coming back to himself he gave the man a weak smile and said "Well Mr. DaCabe, I sincerely hope we're both chosen for this mission, if only so I can see you in action.  One can learn more about someone's character by their deeds than their words as they say."

People could hear the notices coming from MILES (if they were paying attention) as he and Polaris Ursaring entering the "hall". Returning from their last mission...

Well I am ready for a little break how about you MILES?

/// I am fine. You were the one getting beaten up in that odd "space". Besides I can repair myself faster than you can.

Ok. That is when Polaris noticed the mission board. Their is a new mission up already. Should we try another one so soon? Why not, now how do I sign up for this mission again?

/// Oh, I will do it.

"MILES" (along with Polaris) signed up for mission #5.

"Good timing, that one's coming down pretty soon.. and this one's going up."

A new mission has been posted!

Mission #6: We Now Interrupt This Broadcast
Mission Master: Endgame
Assignment: "Testing, testing, is this thing on? Right. A concerning matter has come to our attention. There is a strange broadcast emanating from the wastelands that has us worried. It's interfering with signals from transport ships, hijacking the occasional display, and has... generally ominous contents, to be frank. I can say no more here. I require specialists to investigate." -Glenn Harmondron, Communications Expert on Corvanis
Party Requirements: "Two to four agents who can exercise some discretion would be ideal."
Reward: "80 credits for each agent who can reveal the nature of this signal."
Signups close Sept. 10

I guess, you haven't seen that plant lady around? What was her name again?

/// Are you talking about Valesia?

That sounds right. She said she was willing to help me with some healing spells training. Know what, if you do see her let her know I going to be in the Training Center.

Varen walked back into the hall after the success of his first mission. Not too bad, he thought to himself. He saw a litany of new faces, people he'd have to introduce himself to. That could wait. He checked the board first. Preem, new missions. He signed up for Mission #5 and #6. With that, he went and sat down at his favorite broken stool.

Felix returned to the Hall after a first successful mission and intense training session in Heroica's facilities. Content with the outcome of the mission, he felt relieved his first tour as mission leader didn't end in disaster. The return to Aetherspace brought back some painful memories, however. Walking to the Mission Board, he contemplated if he was going to order a heavier drink than milk this time, to wash away the eerie feeling hanging in the back of his mind, but decided against it.

"Looks like Heroica's been busy," he mused as he saw the new Missions. He shuddered at the thought of the cold snow and the matted fur it'd give him, but decided to enter his name anyway. "Better than sitting around in the ol' appartment, I guess."

Spotting Varen at the bar, Felix nodded and smiled in his direction as a way of greeting his newfound friend. Right now, however, the Chimeran decided to take a seat by himself in a corner and took out his e-pad to further study the Occult. Intently reading its contents, he lit a cigarette in a nearly automated motion without even taking his eyes off the screen.

The events of the Mission had left an impression on the detective and the old habit of delving into cases dies hard. He was keen to find out how to bind Familiars from the otherworld to this world and make them do your bidding. He figured if he understood what it was all about, the knowledge would aid him in future hypothetical encounters with similar beings from the Dark Realm. If anything, a repetition of the events at Lupin's was something Felix wanted to avoid at all costs.

Felix signs up for #5 and #6

Holding his cigarette in his mouth, Felix tried to weave the basic hand seals to summon an entity from beyond this world, carefully and slowly mimicking the examples on the holo scroll that lay before him. Muttering some vague incantation accompanying the signals, he focused his mind on the matter and managed to conjure a tiny fiery circle built up of lines and sigils, before it vanished into nothingness again as fast as it came, leaving nothing but a puff of black smoke and some dying embers on the bar.

"Hmm, that was ... less than I had hoped for," Felix said to no in particular as he swept the dust off the bar top. In the back of his head he heard a faint voice, though. An unfamiliar voice echoing a sense of surprise, but Felix couldn't quite make up the message. A hint of sulfury smell permeated the air, which the Chimeran quickly waved away.

"Enough of that for today, I guess," he thought and started packing his stuff. Looking around he noticed Varen still sitting there and then decided to check up on his companion.

"Kicking it back some post-mission, eh? I feel you. That sure was a memorable first ride, if you ax me. Watchu havin'?"

Felix tapped his fingers on the bar top in a melodic fashion. "This plays needs a band or something, y'know? I bit liveliness."

Varen nodded in greeting to Felix. He raised his glass. "Eh you know, the usual. No reason to change it up now."

He bounced his head to the beat. "Yeah good idea. Hey bartender! Ever consider some music in this joint?"

He then took a long sip on his drink, savoring it as it went down smooth. "Gotta be better than some of the swill on backwater planets, right? Someday, after a big score, I'll buy a nice bottle for the place. Hey it was good working with you on that last job. Thanks for saving my skin, or should I say my digital skin? That place was something."

"Backwater swill can have its charm at times. At least when it's the only thing around to drink. Tastes like luxury then."

"Heh, don't mention it," Felix chuckled. "S'all part of the job, ain't it? We're supposed to look out for each other here. I wasn't gonna let anyone in my team behind."

The Chimeran gestured for a drink. "Yeah, Aetherspace can be weird. You'll get used to it. I didn't really get it the first time I went in either. Hell, I still don't get most of it now, if I'm being honest," he laughed and shook his head.

"Hmmm, I'd prefer to stay away from colder climates anyways."

"Thorvald dear, one Julep please. Extra mint, it'll help clear the smell of that garbage chute from my mouth."

She turned to Felix and Varen as she finds a seat at the bar. "Ah, glad to see more successful heroes returning from missions. I take it everything went well?"

Come out of the training center. Maybe they should pick up a musical instrument(s) and learn to play them. That will get their music they want.

And you said you like it when I chilled Training Center. But, this "Recivic" sounds like stories of the "old homeland". Should be interesting no matter what happens. Hopefully this mission will be a simple patrol and nothing to crazy will happen.

"I'm just saying," Varen raised his hands in mock defense, "when you're used to the GOOD stuff, you're used to it. Now yeah back when the backwater swill is the only thing around, I'm not gonna complain. Remind me to tell you about the worst gut rot I've ever had. Make sure you're not eating when I do."

"Yeah, all part of the job. Nobody left behind, right? At least that's what they say in the corps from what I've heard. Aetherspace is just bizarre. Definitely need to learn more about it, otherwise we're not gonna do well here, I got that feeling."

I don't remember saying anything about singing, I said musical instruments. But listening to some of the so called popular music, some people might like.

Door to the repurposed hotel swung open and a rather tired looking figure entered. With a sigh Maximilian halted to fix the position of his worn-out military cap, making sure it was centered once more. Then with hurried gazes he located the only thing that could give a fresh start to his day – the bar counter. Long strides brought him to it just as his strength run out and he had to drop his bag to the ground, which it hit with loud thump.

“Barkeep, one tea if you please. Specifically of the Cailaathian variety if you have any.”

While waiting for the bartender’s response Maximilian looked around him. Unlike what he had expected, the lobby seemed rather cozy. Not only that but it seemed to be rather lively too, though he hoped his abrupt and loud arrival didn’t get too many judging stares. Nonetheless he could see himself liking it here. At least it was far better lighted than the Hydrocobalt mines. Not quite as well as the bunker city he had grown up back in Aluriel, but it was a step in the right direction for sure.

"Long story... actually short story, Hun. Chute was clogged by some psychic rats, ended up finding an unfortunate wretch holed up down there who had adopted the critters, and we got them relocated before blowing up the blockage with a bomb. Even after three showers I can still feel that clammy air though." Valesia drains half of her drink, before accepting the hand. "Valesia. Dying in Ætherspace would have been an interesting outcome, do you die here in the real world as well, or does your body just go about soulless?"

"Ya know, I once thought green, black, and chai would be sufficient, now you lot have me scramblin' about for every oddball pack of leaves out there." Thorvald sets the kettle to boiling and goes searching in the back for a good ten minutes before arriving back with a dusty small container.

"Thank you, this is a real life saver right now" Maximilian said before taking a huge sip of the tea handed to him. It tasted just as old as one could've expected from the dusted box it came from. But damn did it do the trick. "And i would really appreciate if you did" he said with a genuine smile on his face.

Maximilian took a stool and sat beside the Cladrasith that had spoken to him. "You mean there are others here as well?" He said before taking another sip of his tea, his curiosity having been sparked. "I'm Maximilian by the way, but i suppose Max is okay between colleagues. What has brought you to this establishment - and line of work, if i may ask?". The tea, while old, really did wonders to him, making him feel almost like the strenuous journey there hadn't taken place at all. Not to mention how long it had been since he last got his favorite type.

"Well met Max. I'm Valesia, aspiring chef and recently returned unclogger of garbage chutes. Taffy, caramel?" The Cladrasith pulled a few candys from her satchel. "I was hoping to work for the hotel, but they had already filled the position upon my arrival so I decided to take out a few mercenary jobs while I waited for another vacancy. “Yes please, I’ve never been one to refuse sweet gifts” Max said taking the treats offered to him, hoping to leave a good impression on his new comrade. “I commend your adaptiveness, not many could go from chef to mercenary at will” Max said though he silently wondered how well Valesia had done in her mission. “I’m more of an adventurer myself or at least I’d like to be.” He pointed to his hat: “I was with the League’s military for some time before deciding that it wasn’t the way I wanted to travel the stars. Hopefully this Guild business will be it." He gulped the rest of his tea gathering his thoughts. “Indeed, we are, usually. Hence why I was so curious about others of my kind. It’s been a rare sight last few years. You most certainly didn't see any in the mines of Corvanis”.

"With that sort of soldiering background, I'm sure you'll fit right in, Max. Personally, I'm not one for much violence. It has it's place in the world, but I find most sapient creatures turn to it as a means for solving a problem first without considering its repercussions. Thankfully, Heroica seems to value problem solving of all varieties." Valesia signals for another drink, "Corvanis, that's in the Nendara System right?
