May the 4th 2021: Star Wars Concept Art Contest

Recommended Posts

Not an entry, but some minifigures I’ve put together, inspired by the contest, and hopefully will inspire some people too for the contest, based on Ralph Mcquarries’s concept arts:

I've just extended the deadline through the weekend to the 6th. Hope that helps!

Thanks!

Sadly I probably won't have time to finish anyway, as work has been crazy the last few weeks and I haven't had a chance to do much progress . But I hope the extension helps other builders to complete their builds so that there are some more great entries!

I won't have much time to finish my entry tomorrow, so I can definitely use the extension!

Nice figs @Artizan!

Well done everybody! Thanks for all the votes and congrats to jansued and jp-30! Well deserved, although all entries were great. And thanks to Josh for organizing this fun contest.

I guess I’ll take the Vader (which I was most interested in anyway). :vader: I’ll message you shortly.

Hello all, wanted to poll the audience real quick.

Over the years the May the 4th contest has gotten less and less participation. For this year's contest I want to make sure we get better participation.

Do you all have any feedback on the contest format? Do you think we should keep it simple with 1-3 categories? Would there be enough interest to run a contest like Summer Joust and Space Jam over on Flickr if we had a prize for every category?

Might be a bit late to give feedback on this, but here is my thoughts:

I think it might be better to have a small category along with a large one, like a small speeder, droid or vignette. This might make the contest more accessible for people who don’t have enough time or bricks to build an entire ship or scene like in last year’s contest.

Never too late! I think you'll like what we have in store for the year's contest.

Do we have an idea for the entry timeline yet (start date to end date)?

We'll be starting May 1st and going for 2 months.
