[MOC] Train Shed

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Here the train shed I built to park my Crocodile locomotive. It's a simple design, but I think it turned out nice. The roof took me quite some time to figure out, but I think it was worth it.

It also has a working crane in there. Hope you guys like it.

Nice job! It looks great from the outside, but the interior details like the overhead crane and the machine tools make it really stand out.

It looks great. The exterior is amazing, and the interior details are very well done.

Very, very nice! I would have liked it even better if the interior and especially the workers also looked more historical as the SBB Ce 6/8" for me is an Epoch-II design (and the shed-building itself looks kind vintage). But yeah, I know: The last crocodiles only retired in 1986, so this is isn't about historical accuracy. =)

That looks great! I'm not sure this was your intention, but to my eye it looks like a massive update of set 10027 from 2003, as in, you built a functional equivalent but used completely different build techniques. Regardless, your MOC would look great on almost any layout. Both the interior and exterior detailing are top notch.

Thanks @Pdaitabird @Stuartn for the machinery i took inspiration from my uncle metal workshop, it was actually one of the most difficult parts to do. (Only the roof was worse)

Thanks @Black Knight to be 100% honest, I didn't went in any way to an historical approach. This idea first came to my mind, after I saw a picture of the croco in a train shed being renovated, but the appearance of the shed, came from set 10027. I love that set, but for me it is far too simple, so I was inspired to build an "upgraded" version. The minifigs, I decided that the workers should all have the same outfit, and I had quite a few of those torsos, as for the welder, in my mind was a "specialised" work that needed to be outsourced, that's why he is different. :)

Thanks @zephyr1934 ! As I said, I was inspired by 10027. That set looks so good (I don't own it, but I saw a lot of reviews and photos), but it lacks so many playable functions... And the roof, It looks good, but I find it "simple" if that makes sense.

I was thinking to put it in Ideas platform, but I don't think it's worth it, as probably it will not be a theme that a lot of people will support. So I think I will fine tune the studio.io file, and upload it to rebrickable for free as with all my builds.

Looks great!  One of my favorite sheds, for sure!  Lovely exterior and as has been mentioned already, the interior details are just as good.  Bustling with activity and so many nice bits to look at and enjoy.  I like all the safety/warning signs mixed in, too.  :sweet:

A superb shed. I like all the details you've included. They make the interior stand out and give the overall design serious pizazz.

Beautiful train depot!

One of the things I like is that the building is raised to have track with ballast or even a turntable.

I probably would have made the doors wider to allow even steam locomotives (notoriously bulkier) to enter ...for the rest, you did a good job!

Thanks @deraven @Feuer Zug @Toastie for your feedback. I'm actually really impressed with all the positive comments I had so far from everyone.

Thanks @LEGO Train 12 Volts but you actually spotted and "issue" that I noticed during the real building. It is actually a really tight fit with the croco, so bigger locos will have issues. That's why I changed a bit the build, so if someone needs the doors a bit wider, just need to change the 1x2 bricks for 1x1 bricks, and that's it! I plan to do it, if I ever get a chance to build a display of my own, because at the moment, this will go to a box and get stored...
