[MOC] Amsterdam-esque narrow houses

Recommended Posts

As a house builder, it is almost inevitable to go for the narrow houses they have along the canals in Amsterdam.

I do not know how it works in Amsterdam, but in my city some houses have become so stagnant that they have been replaced with new ones in a similar style. The two with some white in the facade are probably built later are the others.

The white bike is of course a nod to the orchestra Tomorrow's fine piece My White Bicycle from 1967, a song inspired by the Dutch Provos.

The agreement was that everyone would bring something that could be used as a weapon during the escape. Not everyone was completely happy.

Soon they will probably be behind bars again.

Incredible!

I've been building some Dutch inspired buildings lately (having never been anywhere near there I have to resort to online pictures for styles).

These capture the design aesthetic really well. I also like the scene you included. Most of my buildings are static and not too dynamic. The piano and facial expressions is spot on!

Kudos.

Good work, I always have a soft spot for those types of roof sides. They're popular in Amsterdam?

What a great selection of row houses!  Nice variety of styles, and the various SNOT techniques give a lot of character and make them unique, along with the nice color choices.

Thank you for the kind words. I've never been to Amsterdam either, but I've seen that the canal houses is quite popular to be inspired by.

Thanks! I felt that I had to have a go at building this type of houses. The canal houses are quite characteristic for Amsterdam I guess.

Thank you! One of the techniques is very much "inspired" by Barrie Crossan:

Nicely Done! I especially love the use of garage door rail bricks on the white building, and the general level of detail on the grey one. And the white colours pop nicely on the dark tan one, which is perhaps the closest to an actual 'grachtpand' in old Dutch cities like Amsterdam.

Thank you for the kind words! The facade of the white one is quite unstalbe as parts of it is SNOT:ed upside down.
