[MOC] Ferrari 288 GTO

Recommended Posts

Ferrari 288 GTO is a classic model debuted in 1984 at Geneva Motor Show and was produced in number of only 277 until 1987.  With its four square driving lights under the nose it is one of the most characteristic supercars of the 80’s. This is my second Speed Champions 8 studs wide style model. 359 pieces solid build to fit official theme. If you would like to have it in your collection, instructions are available at rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-62943/barneius/ferrari-288-gto/#details

This looks awesome!      If i could change one thing though, it would be the wingmirrors. Apart from that, it looks spot-on!

Excellent work. You've captured the spirit of the 288 GTO. Going 8-wide with the new Speed Champions works well for this supercar.

There is always room for improvement - those mirros should indeed be higher but I just could not find any acceptable solution. If you have one - give me a hint ;)

Thanks a lot! That’s indeed very important in this scale. Even though 8 studs wide size compared to 6 gave so much more room for modelling, Speed Champions „scale” is still a challenge to model all proportions and sizes ideally. Thus capturing „the spirit” is so crucial.

Sorry, i can't think of any solution really.     Having said that, i can think of one, but it would mean sacrificing the 2x1 sloped curve that sits on top of the front arch.

You can try this options

can also use 25269 instead of 50746

Thx! Tried some of them - still think my choice is optimal. And I never put tiles in clips - prefer purely legal techniques.
