Thanks. :classic: (When you translate back and forth, things sometimes get morphed.)

No problem. :classic: What you said is totally correct too; the fact that the designers basically admitted that DH sets aren't as marketable or seen as being as interesting also means that they are saying that DH sets are not a priority like we had assumed they would be if they were following the two films a year pattern like they had been.

Saw these on Lego Cy facebook page and they seem to be custom parts for Harry Potter. They are from a Chinese site so I can't navigate to them but they look pretty cool and I'd love to see the cfm figures get accessories like these in the future. Wands are a bit big but the broom is amazing. And the frog. We definitely need a new mould.

Woah they look lovely.

Before Harry Potter first came back there were two aspects that I hoped would improve. One was the wands which I'm glad they found a way to make them more posable with the ball like joints at the bottom.

The other was broomsticks, I was hoping they'd either make them thin like bike seats near the base so minifigs could sit on them. Or make them like tail pieces that fit between the leg and torso piece.

I wonder if they chose not to as figures wouldn't be able to hold onto the handle, or if it'd end up looking a bit phallic.

The nimbus is beautiful, however, this idea is not entirely new, it was already in the Lego Harry Potter Video Game

Makes me wonder how a chinese company can manage to get them looking spot on, but the main company (TLG) still make one's that look like they could belong in duplo... I understand the feet stands on the broom might not be child friendly and break easily, but remove them and you still got a great representation... I mean look at the indented name text!

Why is TLG slacking....

Might just be me but I would personally really dislike getting elaborate molds like the ones pictured above. They may be more accurate but they clash way too much with LEGO's relatively simple and stylised way of representing things. More detailed isn't always better.

You've pretty much answered your own question: Lego make accessories that look like lego, not like tiny replicas of the props. That said, a new broom mould is way overdue! Quidditch Draco or Kingsley from the CMFs would have been the perfect place to introduce it, Imo.

Lego's priorities confuse me sometimes - like how they made many different specialised body parts for years before finally replacing the sloped brick with a proper skirt piece, which is useful for many different themes! And then they go and make a cat with a Mohawk for The Lego Movie 2....

Yeah the wands are too detailed for the lego theme but the broom? We are definitely due a new mould soon and if you take off the kick stand its fits with lego style of accessories. And the toad would make a nice accessory for a figure.

Yeah the mohawk cat is an odd choice as its unusable in any other theme. We need Hagrids dog and Hermoines cat mould at some stage and they would be easily added to other themes if the printing on them was changed.

To be frank, these custom parts look nothing like LEGO. While a new broom mould would be great, it shouldn’t look like that

This is the thing. I often see people cheering for some knockoff companies doing super detailed minifigures with molds and prints on every single part of the minifigure so it just doesnt even look like Lego anymore. People forget that specially licenced Lego themes are so popular because they find the right balance between details, movie accuracy and simplicity. For me Lego minifirures are about simplicity, thats why they are so appealing to me. Like if I wanted super detailed figures I would buy something from Hasbro or Hot Toys.

Plus, LEGO has gone too far into the detailed route a couple of times and then walked it back. They made those new pistols in the Line Ranger line for example, which looked so un-LEGO and didn't have any connection points beside the handle. I thought that'd be the death of the classic pistol mould, but sure enough that Lone Ranger pistol never returned and the classic pistol lives on.

They really do need a new broom mould that incorporates a thin strip for the Minifigure legs to slot over, like how legs attach to LEGO motorcycles. The only problem would then be that the figure couldn't hold on while riding, but the current ones don't work all that well for other reasons.

2021 being a reboot of the theme is what I was afraid of. I'm hoping it's a one-off anniversary year deal, but it looks like it's not. While I'll gladly get more Hogwarts sets in the 2021 style, I far prefer the 2018-2020 ones since the new exteriors are extremely lacking as others have pointed out. I do want more Goblet of Fire sets, though...

Well, we did get First Flying Lesson this year, which goes with the 2018-2020 system. While that’s just one small set, maybe we’ll continue getting that. Even though we need some big sections still to finish off the Castle.

It's not just you, but I swear to Merlin I'm going to SCREAM if one more person says "well the Flying Lesson goes with the 2018 system-" No. No it doesn't. It's part of the 2021 modular system, you just want to pretend it isn't so you can write off the new system entirely and having one uncontroversially really good set ruins that.

Tbf, I like yourself love the new 2021 modular Hogwarts but it’s not very clear to which line it belongs to. In the instruction manual when it shows the combined Hogwarts it only shows Chamber, Fluffy, and Bathroom and doesn’t have a place for the First Flying Lesson. It doesn’t have any of the Sand Green or Grey pieces so it can go anywhere one wants.

The Flying Lesson is clearly designed to go with the 2021 modular system. How is that not obvious from the 8x8 sections built on grill plates with removable 8x8 roof sections? It just has one weird out-of-system section and can more easily blend in with the older sets due to its colour scheme.

It's not shown as combining in the instructions because it's a store exclusive, and LEGO quite often omits store exclusives from the back of instruction manuals and other materials.

I never knew this to be a fact, but Marcos Bessa said himself that store exclusives like the Flying Lesson get smaller runs so are literally harder to find than other sets (even if they're perfectly available when they release), so perhaps LEGO excludes them because they have a shorter life span and they don't want kids who get one of the other sets to be disappointed down the track.

That center section isn't even uniquely odd, it has the same proportions as the door to the Chamber of Secrets, complete with the fact that the top 4x10 plate is grossly one stud recessed compared to the top plate (which was maybe so that it creates a 10x10 square if you attach them back-to-back...maybe??).

But yeah, the only reason it isn't in manuals is because it's a store exclusive, which to my knowledge is the case with all exclusive sets (though not their minifigures when there are checklists, for some reason).

Uh...I never said one word about the new system. I have zero problems with it. I actually quite like it. If FFL is part of the new system then why is it the only set in the back of the instructions, even it’s own, that isn’t in the picture showing the ‘full’ Castle? To me, that means it’s not. I suppose that’s open to interpretation though.

Guess I should’ve read the other comments...but still. The set can still work very easily with the last layout.

We received a leaks of the names of the first wave of 2022 Star Wars and Ninjago. Is there a chance that we get the name and Harry Potter? And will there be a winter wave in 2022 or only summer?

I was thinking the exact same thing. The way it is designed is identical to the other 2021 sets. Don't honestly know how there is any confusion. :iamded_lol:

Well that is a shame, I would like to have at least one more year with that style of Hogwarts with sets like Bell Towers and Owlery. I hope we at least get remakes of some fan favourite og sets like Shrieking Shack and 2nd task.

Me too. Since we shouldn't expect DH sets or a Gringotts D2C, I think the 2022 line-up will include the following:

  • a wave of Hogwarts Moments sets with new classrooms
  • a remake of a set released in the previous iterations (Shrieking Shack, 2nd task, and the PS troll scene being the most obvious choices)
  • a remake of an already remade set (e.g. Hagrid's Hut, but based on the PS version, which I'd be okay with under the condition that Fang is included)
  • an entirely new set based on either PoA, GoF, OotP, or HBP
  • a castle section in the new style
  • one or two FB3 sets
  • another AC
  • multiple buildable creatures and objects (Niffler anyone?)
  • CMF S3 with some DH representation

Any objections?

That's actually the second use of it after showing in up in TLM2 CMF's
