[TC19] Technic Motorbike Contest - Information Topic

If I could join, I would build something like this:

I'd love to see some really old veteran bikes in the contest.

I'm just thinking, why not to really challenge yourself, not to trying to make intepretations etc.

OK, make sidecar, real sidecar, but not just something, that looks like sidecar, to overcome some clear rule.

Was hypothetically thinking about doing a 3 wheeled bike but with the configuration in the pic below.

What do the rules hypothetically state?

You're indeed right, (just had a second look at the rules on page 1).

There you go.

It's okay Jim. Thanks for the clarification anyway. And for the record, that's all it was, a hypothetical question.

@Jim and @Milan,

As stated in my dedicate topic, some people complain about the windshild i used on my model.

Their complain is founded and understandable. So, as the concerned part is homemade, but on the same principle than the official part, what do we all have to do?

- Use only the official part or,

- Authorize everyone to cut their own windshild out of a single plastic shield?

Whatever the answer, i'll follow the rule you say.

S.

What do the rules say about non LEGO parts?

@steph77 Please don't think it was a complaint my friend, i was just seeking clear clarification of what we can and can't do, as i would've loved to make my own as well.

Thanks for the clarification @Jim  But i so wish it would've been a different decision.  Oh well, back to the drawing board for both of us i guess.

@Jim And what about those wheels?

Are those tires official LEGO products?

@Jim  Are we allowed to remove the red print from the Ducati clear plastic windshield/visor piece?

[EDIT]

It's okay, reread the rules again. I guess that would fall under modifying parts.

Sorry to bother you.

All of the used parts are official LEGO parts, but in my opinion, I haven't used them as it's supposed to...

As long as they are official you are good to go! Using parts not the way they are supposed to is sometimes even better :sweet:

The rules on this are very clear, and have been the same in the past. We usually only allow third party strings, hoses, etc. And sometimes wheels, but usually not.

@Jim, @Milan I have one question.

Is a 3d printed part, an exact copy of an official part, just in slightly different colour, considered a 3rd or 2nd party part?

I am not takling about noncanonical gears, shorter panels, wheels, liftarms with even number of holes, or other useful parts, but exact (functional and aesthetical) copies (exported as .stl from LDraw, for example) of existing and not easily available parts like existing panels, accesories like brake discs, etc.

I think that rule about this kind of parts is missing, because it might be just another Pandora's box and reason for many arguments, if it became more popular.

Would a drag bike be acceptable for a build?

Why not, it is not forbidden by rules.

The line about 3rd party parts has been added.

Indeed, it wasn't explicitly mentioned. I thought it was.

@Jim and @Milan: I am finishing up my presentation and want to make sure about the entry topic photo limit. Is it 4 + 1 for the chassis, or is that one of the chassis included in the max 4? The way I read it is 4+1, but would like to be sure.

Thank you for clarification and best regards.

Miha

Hi Miha,

It is a total of 4 pictures, including at least one image of the chassis.
Yes, you can have combined pictures (4 in 1), but still the limit is four pics.

Thank you @Milan for quick reply, was hoping for the other answer but it is fine. Knowing how to present a model in a few photos only, is a virtue by itself as well

Best regards.
