Notre Dame de la Garde is a minor basilica from the 19th century.

Emblem of Marseille, it dominates the city and the Mediterranean sea from the top of La Garde hill.

It replaced an old chapel dating from 1214 because Marseille population could not go to require it because the space was cramped.

The work is by Jacques Henri Esperandieu, a young architecture of 23 years old.

My work in few figures :

120 hours to build the Basilic

50 hours to modelising on the logiciel Studio 2.0

3180 bricks

The construction of the work in Lego requires more than 3000 bricks.

The proportions are practically respected even if a caveat must be asked:  the statue of the Virgin Mary in reality is the size of the Dome.

It's hard to imagine such a large Virgin in Lego. The interior of the Basilica has also been redone on a microscale.

I hope you will enjoy reproducing this construction, emblem  of an entire Marseille people.

Nice build! I think a white color might work better though.

Nice achievement, but isn't there a floor missing on the tower?
There are 2 floors of arches above the door.

Something I've noticed too, something doesn't look 'right'.
Except that 'small' detail, it's looks great. Are you gonna build the rest too? Would be great.

The iconic alternating light and dark bands on the arches took me right back to southern Spain, walking into the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba.  You have achieved the detail well at a small scale!

I've added this to my small but growing collection of Islamic and Byzantine LEGO Architecture on my Pinterest board.  Thanks for sharing!
