42023 and 42031 work okay. So does 42094, to an extent.

Very nice and in black color as well, I'll just get a bunch of those from Bricks&Pieces.

Overall the set looks O.K., but that cabin glass looks like the frosted glass of my bathroom window. The operator will have to work blind I guess

Could be a semi-autonomous excavator. Or, it could have an array of exterior cameras, with the windshield there for familiar effect.

Nice parts pack. Actually I think the initial idea of the designer has been the usage of pneumatics. The dimentions for the upper main arm for example seems more fitting for small 11x1 cylinder. The forward attachment of the small LA looks a workaround solution... Also the main frame surely has enough space for a pump.

It looks like the major new piece is the 2x3 curved panel extension in black used on the arm (pictured), which I guess you can consider either a panel or a liftarm
Still I'm really excited for this set. Sure it's not pneumatic as the name implies, but the coverage and parts usage is nice, and it looks like it will have the 3 functions we would expect with slewing, lowering the arm, and extending the bucket.

It would be good to get that wind screen/seat piece in a non-frosted clear but I understand the cost limitations of making a new mold just for the different texture
I guess we can pretend it's clear like we pretend other sets lacking a windscreen even have a windscreen to begin with

Also I hope the #22 panel in yellow has it's companion #21 in the set, but judging from past history I don't expect it to. I might throw this together in studio like I've done for some of the other 2021 sets before it's released, always a fun challenge :)

I'm not sure abour the distance between superstructure and tracks. Image suggests no distance:

But there I found that superstructure will touch track elements especially if boom is extended.

If I increase distance it doesn't look like the photo from catalog:

On second thought: Are there 16-tooth gears in the upper (track) beam or is something smaller used?

I don't think the old style tread mates with anything smaller than 16T gears. 8T has the correct tooth profile but is too small, and all other small gears are beveled so they can't be used with the chains.

I think it might just be 8T gears If it were pulley wheels then unless they were some new one with a cross axle hole, the 3L with stop would just fall out. I swear I can see some DBG teeth in the photo.

I'm not so sure about that. In the photo you can clearly see that there's no 16T gears on top at the front - you can see straight through to the beams on the other side for both tracks, something you wouldn't be able to do if there was a second 16T gear. Again, I think it's an 8T gear on top, even if it doesn't properly mesh with the tracks.
