Lego Hobby Train Alternatives besides the main 30.

I was wondering if anyone had any instructions for alternatives to the hobby train besides the 30 given. I am acquiring one here soon and want some more to build with it. One thing I was wondering if it could be possible to build a snow plow rotary or non rotary. Thanks!

Search on Rebrickable.  There are a lot of MOCs and models there, although I think a lot of them are instructions for the builds not included with the Hobby Train itself (most instructions were only available online.)

I don't see any in that group for a snow plow, but Rebrickable does have snow plow MOCs.  If you tell Rebrickable that you have the Hobby Train set, it will use those bricks and tell you which MOCs you can make with what bricks you have, and what % of bricks you have to build other LEGO Sets and MOCs.

The Best answer is to go to the Rebrickable site and check it out.  They do a great job of explaining how their site works.

In a nutshell, you create an account on Rebrickable and then you tell them what sets you own.  Those sets get added to your set list.  The site is free and allows for a large number of total sets and parts, but you can also pay for different tiers to add more sets/parts to your inventory.  Rebrickable knows what pieces (including any extra pieces) that are included with each set, so they now know all the parts you have.

You then have lots of options.  They can tell you what Other official LEGO sets/MOCs you can also build based on the bricks you currently own.  You can also either look through their site or search for specific sets/MOCs.  Once you select one, it will tell you what percentage of parts you already have for that model and what parts you are still missing.  You can also import purchases from BrickLink and other sites.  You can add set lists from BL Studio models.  You can export part lists to import as BrickLink wanted lists and so on.

Search for "train snow" and you will get an idea of what snowplow locomotive MOCs are there.  Lastly, no, I don't have any investment in them other than just as a happy user.    I think its a very cool site (I also use it as a list of LEGO sets I own for Insurance purposes) and I think you will find it useful for what you are asking about above.
