42110 Assembly Problems

So I recently purchased the Land rover Defender Lego Technic set (42110) and have encountered one problem so far.

I am on Step 271 and it is where you assemble the bulk of the power train together. This uses bags 1 & 2.

This step is seemingly improbable as the gear you have to place sits too high up meaning you can't get the connecting rod through. At least on mine, it currently isn't locating properly.

You are trying to insert a black 12 tooth gear instead of a smaller dark bluish gray 8 tooth one. Use the smaller, correct one and everything will go together smoothly :)

Ah thank you! I must've used that 8 tooth somewhere else then as I do not have a spare
