[GBW] Justice Served - Plighia - The Acorn

Recommended Posts

After General Yeti's death, the Tosul Armed Forces in the South Central Region came under the command of General Roome, who is now visiting with his escort at the Bronholm Research Center, in E-7 quadrant, to oversee the dismantling of a top secret project. The Rats have been sent to attack the complex, before the project can be dismantled. In fact, the information recovered from the castle in F-7 allowed to delineate a particular situation:  Tosul has developed a completely innovative technology that could lead to incredible developments, that is a unique machine of its kind that serves to synthesize stable artificial polonium, in large quantity, with minimal expenditure of resources, a fissile material widely used in nuclear weapons. It is probably thanks to this machine that Tosul armed himself with nuclear devices so quickly that he deployed to Burke Atoll. The Rats have to find out more about this machine before it is taken out of circulation. According to the information recovered, scientists at the Bronholm Research Center are evacuating quickly, but given the complexity of the machine they are dealing with, it is still present for the moment inside the complex.

Spec. Relye: "Here Echo-one to Rats 5, the situation outside the complex is under control, there are several patrols controlling the external perimeter, some on the ground, others on the roof of the complex."

Cpt. Label: "Received, we are in position, we go into action as soon as you give the green light."

Spec. Relye: "Copy."

Spec. Relye: "I have the tango on the roof in my viewfinder, as soon as I have eliminated it, you can proceed to eliminate the patrol on the ground, and proceed with the operation."

Spec. Relye: "Tango's down. One is busy urinating and is turned from behind, it is a good time to attack."

Cpt. Label: "Great, we advance. Silenced weapons. We don't want anyone to hear us coming."

Lt. Tarma: "Another tango down."

Cpl. Lisa: "The last one is still from behind, I'm going to neutralize him."

Cpl. Lisa: "Tango neutralized."

Cpt. Label: "A clean job, perfect. Prepare the harpoons, aim at the railing of the roof, we will surprise them entering through the windows. The three of you head to the emergency exit, as soon as we get into action, break through and join us. Echo-One how is the situation?"

Pvt. Ramirez, Lt. Gordon, Spec. Dominus: "Copy."

Spec. Relye: "Here Echo-One. The situation is calm, no one has yet reported the bodies, I do not see any suspicious movements."

Cpt. Label: "Great shots, now let's go up to the top, stay away from the windows for the moment, on my way, let's break in."

Lt. Gordon: "We are in position."

Meanwhile inside the complex ...

General Roome: "So what's the current situation, Director Crescent."

Director Crescent: "We have taken steps to transfer the Acorn project to our encrypted intranet, so that no one but us can get their hands on it, plus all the plutonium has been taken away, hidden in our underground tunnels. Unfortunately the Acorn is a very complex machine, it takes too long to dismantle it, Plighia's army is on our doorstep, perhaps it should be destroyed ..."

General Roome: "And so be it, my escort has taken steps to bring explosives, in case they were needed, time to place the charges and this complex will remain nothing."

*in the background scientists and technicians still working to dismantle the Acorn.*

Director Crescent: "Why destroy our research labs? Just the machine ... And what will become of our scientists? We are talking about years of research, the flagship of our nation, destroying it would mean transmitting the message that our nation only cares for military interests, and this would distance the scientific community from Tosul."

General Roome: "Shut up! We cannot in any way allow the Allies to get their hands on the Acorn, it would give our enemies a huge advantage. And then all your research is saved and stored in our intranet, it will not be difficult to reconstruct what will be lost in this war."

Tosul soldier: "General we lost contact with our men outside! Possible enemy raid incoming!"

General Roome: "WHAT? Did they arrive so early?!"

Outside...

Cpt. Label: "Go! Now! Break in!"

Tosul Soldier: "We cover your escape, General! The evacuation vehicle is already outside waiting for you!"

*Escape scientists and technicians from the complex*

Lt. Tarma: "Attention to civilian!"

Cpt. Label: "The last enemy is on the ground, I check the bodies. Tarma goes to check the lower computers, Lisa covers the entrances to the west, Vine covers the entrances to the east."

Radio: "Here Rats 8, both General Roome and Director Crescent managed to leave the complex, together many scientists and technicians, we lost track of them, headed east."

Radio: "Here Rats 2, the south wing is free, as is the west wing."

Cpt. Label: "Here Rats 5, the south wing is clear, we have control of the machine we were looking for."

Lt. Tarma: "Incredible, from the little data that is still stored on computers, this machine is the most complex thing I have ever seen, unfortunately most of the technical schematics have been deleted or encrypted ..."

Spec. Dominus: "Captain, we managed to catch some scientists on the run, they would seem involved with what you are observing."

Cpt. Label: "Bring them here."

Cpt. Label: "Well, well, well, What do we have here? Look, you're a scientist on this project, I saw you escape as we went into action, what would you tell me about this machine? We know that it is very complex, and that it would seem to be connected with your country's nuclear program, I guarantee you that Plighia will not discount those who do not cooperate, and it is in your interest to speak."

Rose Bone: "Yes, ok, this is the Acorn, we developed this machine with the initial aim of guaranteeing our country new mineral resources, since Tosul does not have a vast market for these resources, he had to create new complex elements starting from simple elements, a sort of philosopher's stone, and we succeeded. Then the government and the military set their sights on that machine, and converted it to their purposes. They financed this institute with lost funds, so that the Acorn became a weapon. Although he is now in your possession, his plans are safe, but I guarantee you that Tosul's revenge will not be long in coming, for having lost this precious resource."

Cpt. Label: "Good, enough. You could actually be useful to the Allies ... The Acorn, really is a philosopher's stone?"

FUN FACT: The Acorn is a parody of the "Die Glocke", a phantom German super-weapon of the Second World War, which would be developed in the Die Riese complex, in the Wenceslaus mines, which should have turned the tide of the conflict if actually used.

Great build!

I think the yellow pieces could be replaced with black ones.

Thank you for the feedback! :wink:I thought about it too, to preserve the chromatic pattern of the whole, but unfortunately I didn't have enough pieces of that type of that color

You’ve been awarded ( 8 ) points.

Judges’ comments…

The first thing I thought of when I looked at your photos was that you made the building almost like an old movie set piece where its basically a shell. From the front it looks like a really well designed structure that subtly breaks the rules with the split down the middle. Once you get behind it, you see there is nothing really to it. This is not a negative, it works! Terrain felt like it might have been a little bit reused from the prior build. Nice job overall!

PROS : I love good stories following a build. And you developed a series of good stories for your builds that actually did not see it often. Also you have a nice setup in your build with correct color combination, layered ground, operators ascenting to the roof, broken windows and alot details in the tech gear inside the building

CONS : the scattered tiles you used on the snow. Probably one or two is ok, but more of them don't look so nice

SUGGESTIONS : Better use plates insted of tiles on the ground (snow, dirt or mud), so to be able to use tiled for showing icy or moist surfaces. Also, even detailed stories and conversations are nice and develop the story, try to reduce their size, as most of the people don't read, so, many times they can not see or understand some of the details of your build

Be Sure to Update Your AARs.

Thanks for playing!
