I can’t see what pieces you meant for the headlights though. Which pieces do you mean?

I used 2x 99780 trans-clear in each headlight: 99780.pngthere is no way these could be replaced.it just looks like a 1x2 plate from the outside.

I also used these in black 31794.pngto mount the C-pillars. these cannot be replaced either. Only available from GoBricks as well.

I spent way to much time making the building instructions for my Mazda RX-7, and even though lots of people seemed to like it, almost nobody has bought the instructions. Probably because you need a small number of non-LEGO pieces to complete the build. I can respect that, but that means I will probably never make building instructoions again, at least not if there are non-LEGO pieces required. Sorry.

I said it before but this is your best yet.

Hopefully that'll happen for the next one as well  I always try to improve wherever possible

You have really captured the car - its wonderfully designed especially the panel work - it seems like could also be built in white and add the lambo wheels for the white/gold look.

Any chance your working on an S15 next ?? :)

Black was the only possible color, believe me. I wanted to rebuild the car in a different color than black, but it wasn't possible.

The next car might be a drift car, I am currently playing around with a front suspension setup that allows for a better steering angle. But I can already see the S-Chassis cars will give me problems in a few places, especially in the rear wheel arch area... We'll see if I can come up with a solution

@Gray Gear it's no problem if we have to buy some parts outside Lego. I'm on 59% parts for your Honda NSX. Already have bought the ~20 pieces needed from Aliexpress in the correct colours. In 4000+ pieces model if we buy 20 of them non-Lego is no problem for me.

My next project would like be the RX7. It's so nice but there is a big problem for this. And it's not other than very expensive parts. It's only 800€ for the parts plus shipping fees would easily top 900+€.

Yeah I wondered why bricklink was making up an estimated price >1000$ when I made the model... White seems to be especially expensive :sceptic:

A. because most people prefer hypercars.
B. because €20 is quite expensive for some people

also i've built your honda and its most robust build i ever encounter. very impressive, and i want to build the nissan too. i actually willing to pay you 20 euro right now.

I know JDM cars are a niche market :sceptic:

But you would think that if somebody is willing to pay like 500€ for a model then 20€ for the guy who put in all the work shouldn't be that hard to swallow.

And I dont want to complain, I learned a lot making these instructions :classic:

If we being honest, half the people or even most of those who build big moc like that, don't use branded parts because as u said, the price difference is really ridiculous. Also for people who aren't from europe the currency difference can be high. As for the Mazda rx7, i dident like it really. The Honda and now the skyline are top notch in my opinion same level as BrunoJJ McLaren/ 488 in terms of looks.

Yes I personally don’t like the RX7 that much either. Having some rare pieces that I believe I mentioned will discourage even more people from building it. Your NXS was definitely better, and I have plans to build it as well. But I would prefer building this one

Damn, I will think about making instructions in the future. There should be ways to fix the pieces that are only available from GoBricks, but compromises will have to be made.

But I definatelly won't do it until I have a new computer, my laptop wasn't able to handle the RX7 in LDCad well at all. I will never do instuctions for a bigger model again on this crapbox :ugh:

PS maybe y'all are right and 20 Bucks is too expensive, I dropped the RX7 to 15 Bucks as well, same as the NSX.

Count me in for Skyline's instructions. Yesterday ordered another 1000 pieces from Bricklink for the NSX and now I'm only 200 pieces away from building it.

why won't you make photo sequence instructions like lox lego, i think it will simplify the process.

There are murtiple things I dislike about photo instructions:

1. They look low quality

2. I would have to completely disassemble the Model, and I dont feel like I could do that without making mistakes (there is a very specific order)

3. My personal model will always be a little different from the instruction version. The colormatched pins would also make them quite hard to see, and I dont think many people would be able to get lbg pins for the engine bay etc.

4. I couldn't generate a parts list, and I dont feel like counting and checking 3000-4000 pieces.

Could you make separate videos on how to make the trans, frame, roll cage? I would definitely buy it for $20

I have a question for all you LEGO specialists: what color is more expensive in general: Black pieces or light bluish gray pieces? And can you see any pieces on this car's outside body right away that are not available in light bluish gray (exept for the wheel arches)? Thank you

I will get myself a new PC for christmas that should have enough power to easily deal with these big MOC's in LDCad and LPub3D. Then I will make normal building instructions for the GTR.

There will be no video instructions.

LBG has almost no readily available panels. Some of the ones you used are crazy rare or don’t even exist. I’d just do it black tbh.
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catID=154&catXrefLevel=0&colorPart=86&catType=P

Especially check out the 17/18 panels and 5/6 panels. 1/2 panels don’t exist at all.

I’ve already got the black suspension arms and black arches painted by a friend. I was going to use them for the NSX but if this gets instructions I will use them for this one.

Holy these panels are crazy expensive in lbg, those prices are out ot this world... So black it will be

I belive I could change the entire car in light bluish gray color using GoBricks pieces for 100-150 EUR if I wanted to

Keep in mind it will take me at least 3 months after newyear, but probably quite a bit longer till the GTR instructions are finished

I want to eventually build an R33 skyline. I feel like they would be pretty similar. Just a little body work. I have no interest in any other cars ? so I’m sol.

@Spencerkk Very nice, I guess this model would be a good starting point.

The R32 and the R33 look pretty similar on first glance, and they are to some extent. I have been told some people even think the R33 is just a facelift of the R33 :laugh_hard:

You'll definatelly have to lengthen the wheelbase tho, because the R33 got a longer wheelbase to improve its high-speed stability. Should be possible. The rest is probably possible through modifications of the bodywork.

Dont get me wrong, it will not be easy, but if you have some LEGO building/ MOC experience you should be able to do it.

Nice work

Your price for the instructions is very correct, I made the instructions myself for a 5000 parts model and it took me longer to do the instructions than to design it. Being a very successful and unique model, I consider that people who really want it will buy it anyway, having a model like this in their collection and in a very limited edition makes it really valuable.

I much prefer to make successful MOC than to build a model already available at any store. I buy most sets to fill my inventory with pieces.

Have you thought about selling these oddly specific parts? I’m sure you could even 3D print some!? I’d be all for supporting a business like that.  It’s always been a passion of mine to build one but without access to to your work skills.

Building instructions for the Skyline GT-R are finally available on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-62624/Gray_Gear/nissan-skyline-r32-gtr/#details

I have resolved most of the parts issues, so now only very few "non-LEGO" Bricks are needed to build this MOC!

Front%20View%20III%20Nissan%20R32%20Skyl

I had to put in 100+ hours of tedious work to finish these instructions, so I am sorry but they arn't free. All the earnigs will be reinvested in new bricks for new MOCs of course
