The newest addition to the Batman line has been revealed - The 1989 Batwing. Gotta say, this looks awesome!

The price will be 199 USD/199 EUR/179 GBP - seems quite reasonable for me.

It does look nice, certainly cool to display on the wall. It doesn’t seem to have many functions, so I’m curious. Looking forward to a review. Is it more than a bat-shaped disc?

Well, it's targeted at adults...

I’m an adult. What I mean: the batmobile has steering, the mechanism for the guns, the nicely moving roof. This one..... opening roof?

Yes, opening canopy. Not sure about any other functions...

To top it off the 89 Batcave, with Wayne Manor,  miniature scale like the Harry Potter hogwarts set.

I'm a little upset. It seems to me to be a little cropped. I mean, the body is not proportioned to the wings. The wings should have been larger.

Think you could easily MOD it to make it bigger ;)

Surely I can, but why Lego itself did not?

My best guess would be that they tried to complete it in a short time because it was revealed on batman day

Sure, but Lego makes sets in almost 2 years before putting in shops.

They are clearly trying to make this set the same scale as the batmobile, so I'm assuming that's the way it has to be...

"Hey, but that should just have been the B model of set 76139! I bet you can make this Batwing design using just the parts of the big Batmobile."

That was my first thought. After all this time I still haven't seen anyone else express the same idea. Weird. It seems so obvious to try and build it from the Batmobile...
