Regiments of Horse

The glorious cavalry are mounted on the finest horses in Corrington and are renowned for their bravery. The bulk of Horse regiments are made up of Dragoons. Originally mounted infantry, Dragoons in Corlander service no longer fill and infantry role but are instead considered Heavy Cavalry and are armed with sabres. Other units include Hussars, popular for scouting and classified as Light Cavalry. Also classified as Light are Lancers.

Regiments of Foot Guards

The first three Regiments of Foot in the Army of Corrington are Guard Regiments. The most senior of all infantry regiments, like the Horse Guards these regiments are considered the personal guard of the reigning monarch and consist of the tallest, bravest veterans of the infantry. These regiments will hold their ground at all costs and will advance into even under intense fire.

Regiments of Foot

The backbone of most Corlander armies, the Regiments of Foot are the infantry that advance and defend in lines. Most regiments consist of one to three battalions which themselves are made up of multiple companies. The 1st Company of the Battalion is usually a 'Grenadier' company of the tallest and strongest men. Additionally most battalions will have a Light Company, of men who are the best marksmen and can be relied upon to act independently ahead of the main battle line as skirmishers. A handful of regiments will consist wholly of Grenadiers or Light soldiers but most will be made up with ordinary line infantry.

Unit Name: Royal Society of Navigation and Discovery Marines

Unit Type: Marines

Picture:

50365833132_0fdfdffc00.jpg

Description: RSND Marines are volunteers from the regular Corrington Royal Marines who wish to both protect Her Majesty's interests and explore new and uncharted lands under the banner of the Royal Society of Navigation and Discovery. Accordingly, their uniform is more suited for island exploration. It consists of looser fitting dark brown pants, a traditional red coat and a wide brimmed hat for shielding the sun. Most of the Marines are armed with a standard issue musket, although some prefer to carry a blunderbuss when trekking through the deep jungle. Officers sport green epaulets and carry a pistol and their choice of a cutlass or machete. They are trained at skirmishing and usually employ hit and run tactics as apposed to open field combat which is better suited to island encounters with a hostile foe.

The 1st Dragoons, or 'The Royals', wear the same uniform, though they carry a ceremonial golden great sword. They are truly a sight to behold leading a parade!

Unit Name: 45th Regiment of Foot

Unit Type: Royal Marines

50387094723_b4a3baaa4f_z.jpg

Description:

The Brave Boys in Red of the 45th Regiment of Foot are formally known as the Royal Corrington Marines. They are tough as nails and all around quite a formidable force to oppose. They have fought in a myriad of different theaters from the rolling hills of the mainland, to the thick Juniper woodlands on the border with Oleon, island bogs, and the bamboo forests of the island protectorates. Through the years the uniform has remained virtually the same. The white trousers, red jackets and ornate shakos gives a striking image any foreign power would be jealous of. Officers typically wear a black tricorne and can be mounted depending on the terrain.

"Over the hills and far away,

King Arlin commands and we obey,

Over the hills and far away"

Unit Name: 95th Regiment of Foot 'Queen's Rifle Regiment'

Unit Type: Light Regiment

Picture:

jy8xa6zc.jpg

Description:

In the year AE 576 during the The Forty-Nine Years War the Corrington Army became critically short on troops. So the 95th Rifles were formed mostly from poachers and highwaymen incarcerated in Corrington´s prisons. Initially considered a penal unit, the 95th Rifles got the assignments which were considered dishonourable for regular line units. Their unorthodox fighting style was established during that time. During the conquest of the Isle of Tam in AE 589 the 95th Rifles rescued King Arlin after an ill fated cavalry charge. A grateful King Arlin decreed that the 95th are allowed to call themselves the `King´s Rifle Regiment' henceforth. Queen Annetta graciously allowed the 95th Rifles to call themselves the 'Queen's Rifle Regiment' after her accession to the throne. The 95th also fought in the Juniper war. In AE 616 the 95th was sent to the colonies and in the same year was victorious over Mardierian forces in the Battle of Golden Bay on Serentia, securing the island for the crown. In AE 620 the 95th fought in the El Oleonda campaign against Lotii forces and was instrumental in the attack on the Lotii city of Jiangkai.

Unit Name: 32nd Regiment of Foot "Broadlake Borderers"

Unit Type: Light Infantry

Picture:

image0

Description:

The Broadlake Borderers are oddly enough from a region on the border of Corrington called the Broadlakes. Due to the cragy terrain and tall grass of the Broadlakes region, it was found that a single cartridge box ("Cartouche") slung on one side tended to get wet, damaged, or simply be out of reach. To correct this difficulty each solider is issued two small cartridge boxes that are worn at the intersection of their belt and shoulder straps. Oversized spontoons are carried by Sergeants as a mark of rank.

The WTC defends a settlement at the cost of a small residence.

Description: The WTC Marines the feared across the Brick Seas for their wanton violence and destruction. The WTC Marines are the rabid dogs of Corrington, recruited from dishonorable discharges, criminals, and other miscreants. To fight them, is to fight chaos, as they misdirect, destroy, and pillage urban environments, warping the battlefield to their will.

The rank and file WTC Marines wear sandy uniforms with little distinction between officers and line infantry, to confuse the enemy. However, Officers generally wear Brown epaulettes.

Generally, the WTC is seen operating with urban environments, defending, occupying, and fortifying company interests. But the Brick Seas may rue the day the WTC is unleashed in a real land war.

Unit Name: 3rd Regiment of Life Guards 'The Winged Cuirassiers'

Unit Type: Heavy Cavalry

Picture:

50538355286_80245a4157.jpg

Description:

The Winged Cuirassiers is is one of the three Life Guard Cavalry Regiment of Corrington, and serves as protectors of the Crown, both as lifeguards and as extended arms of the regent.

The Winged Cuirassiers recruit solely from gentlemen and part of their service time consists of classical education. Often, former cuirassiers will go on to become prominent public servants.

As a military unit, the Winged Cuirassiers is a heavy cavalry regiment, and their charge is a fearsome sight to behold, and few can stand the onslaught of heavily armed and armoured men on heavy destriers reminiscent of the age of knights in full armour.

Armed with heavy lances doubling as great battle axes, greatswords, and carbines, they are at home on the charge. Nonetheless, these soldiers are also trained and able to fight as heavy infantry when called upon.

Their uniforms are all black with gold facings on the torso, gold epaulettes, white gloves and sword belt, and a cape draped across the left shoulder to prevent sword cuts. Tall bearskin shakos are worn to make the trooper appear even larger when mounted. The Hussars are also equipped with long razor sharp sabers to extend their reach on the battlefield.

Description: Corrington does not employ Heavy Calvary to often in the Colonies, due to the much rougher terrain. The 5th Regiment of Dragoons were raised by the Duke of Erling during the Juniper War and the 49 Years War. The bitter fighting on the rolling plains allowed the true power of Heavy Calvary to shine. Riding on powerful brown horse and employing long sabers, these Dragoons struck fear in even the bravest Oleonese troops.

The uniform consists of a red jacket with white facings, white epaulets, white trousers and black riding boots. Helmets are worn instead of shakos for better protection of the head. Helmet plumes allow for quick identification of roles. Officers sport a red and black plume, gold epaulets, and typical will ride a white horse. Bulger is topped with a white plume, and all the rest have red plumes.
