As a parent, I would never buy anything knock-off for my kids, and for only one reason; I have absolutly no faith in their use of materials. With geniuine Lego, I have faith that they use materials that don't harm kids if they e.g. suck on the bricks, my fear is that some random knock-off company only think money and use whatever materials that are the cheapest, with no regards to (child) safety.

I get your example, but still the cars from last year was sold in the US at least, whereas neither the Bronco or GT, the Corvette or the Challenger are sold here (in Denmark). I would say it would be comparable with Lego releasing a doublepack of a Renault 5 and the Kadjar or something like that, thats perhaps known outside Europe but only by car enthusisast.

Both are fair points, I can agree that they probably should've gone with 2 American and one European/Japanese pack just so the market wasn't so exclusive.  I think my impression of what was more well-known around the world was wrong, I assumed the Corvette and Challenger were still somewhat known in other parts of the world.  I guess I'm pretty biased because both the Dodge and Ford sets are the ones I'm super excited for out of this line, but I can see why it's disappointing, since the TF dragster is pretty niche, and none of the other vehicles are super relatable to those outside of the US/Canada.

I thought of this as well, I think the reason they scaled it down a little bit is because any larger of tires and they'd be bigger than the minifigure.  I know dragsters have huge rear wheels in real life, but they'd just be way out of proportion with a figure (realistically they're probably going to look big next to a figure already, but it's hard to really capture the big tire without it looking like that in Lego form).  I am, however, excited they went with the Angry Bee graphics, and it even looks like the driver in the set is based on Leah Pruett, which is kind of an awesome little Easter Egg, even if it's not officially NHRA licensed.

Any kid who is into cars is probably going to recognize a Challenger or dragster.

I also thought those tires looked a little too small on the back of that dragster as well as the front tires are to big but I suppose they did as well as they could as mentioned. 

I always like when those cars launch off the start the back wheels get huge when they start spinning. So cool to see in real life.

Realistically, while most would probably classify all of the GTs as American, they've always stylistically appeared more similar to European supercars than anything to me.  They just don't really have similarities at all to any other American sports cars from the same era.

Having seen these images i am disappointed. 

I expected much more out of almost all of these sets apart from the Elva.

Jesko: In my opinion the front is a bit too tall and the splitter is too thick. However i am impressed with the rest of the car, especially the rear as the brick built lights look great.

Jesko - 8/10

Elva: I don't have many complaints but the nose is slightly too pointy. Would have liked to see transparent front lights, but brick built lights are better than stickers any day of the week. The rear lights are slightly too high and close together but should be modifiable enough.

Elva - 8/10

Supra: I am not sure how TLG made such a meal of recreating such a beautiful but easy enough to recreate car. The headlight stickers look terrible and the car is too blocky and bland at the back. Can't say there is much which is actually good about it as this was probably the car i had the highest hopes for.

Supra - 5/10

Corvettes: I don't mind the C8R, however it is too reliant on stickers and does not have the characterful point of its nose. Now the C3 is another thing. The front is acceptable but not great. However the rear is atrocious and i am not sure i have seen a worse brick built attempt at the rear of a car. TLG failed to capture the C3's curves and is a big fail.

Dodge's: I had never known about this challenger existing  before this set was found in a store, and i still have no connection too it For what it is it does not look bad but i am just not interested in it. However the dragster is a different story. Having seen (and not buying) the Technic dragster on sale for quite a while now, i am not sure why they needed a licensed dragster where not much is different apart from less functions on the speed champions version. I am not sure why i can buy a dragster which can be pulled back and launched like a dragster is, for less than a third of the price of a set which has a slightly smaller dragster without this function, along with a car that is rather basic and that is it. No extra accessories or anything. I am just confused about why this set came to be.

Challenger - 7/10

Ford's: I was surprised and slightly disappointed, when i found out the third two pack was a ford and that nearly all the big american car brands had two cars each in this wave. However i am neutral about this set. I don't feel the GT is necessary, as we had the same model with different livery 5 years ago. Also the headlights would be sooooo much better if they were brick built as half a Lego set these days is made up of stickers. The Bronco R is something i had never heard of until now and i am still not interested in it. I had heard of the old Bronco though i know little about it, and would have been more accepting of this if they made an old model rather than a new one. However i think they have recreated it well anyway so for something i am not interested in it is ok.

I hope there will be a new Ferrari Speed Champions set the next year! The F8 Tributo one is by far my favorite of the line, blaming the currently wider style.

I am pretty sure they will as long as they continue the speed champions line.

 

Ferrari are one of the best known car companies in the world and they are always producing interesting models as well as very limited edition special models. Future Ferrari Lego sets could include the SF90, and the 812 Competizione are ones that spring to mind.

It has been a week now since some Toy retailers have started taking pre-orders (Sadly none in the UK yet)  - why is Lego soooo slow

Yes I would like to know the same thing, Lego still hasn't officially released any details on the Speed Champions line. 

 

It would be nice to get some UK prices to, I presume they will be near the Euro prices as we in the UK always have to pay more.

 

I have a Legoland and official shop only a 15 minute drive from where I live but when I popped in last week and I asked staff they didn't even know!!

Interestingly, it is still not on display on Lego UK Website, but a Promotion video on the same website shows the new Elva model at the end... see link below

As I went to the LEGO PickABrick page in the lost parts and typed the numbers of these sets from SC 2021 it jumped out only pictures of models, but parts were not available, so I think it's only a matter of time as they announce everything officially. So I think there's nothing to worry about, and we're starting on June 1st.
