Hello everyone,

As you may or may not be aware that i have recently announced my retirement earlier, I have been temporary reinstated from retirement to come back and share with our Eurobricks Community with another CMFs tradition review. I must first apologies that the review will not be carried out as frequently which is solely on opportunity-based since I have not able to deliver the Eurobricks tradition as I have missed two CMFs series lineup  - recent LEGO CMFs Batman Series 2 and LEGO CMFs Series 20 in 2020.

Nonetheless, I am very glad of this opportunity which our EB Ambassador, Jim for facilitating this reviewing opportunity. Special thanks and mention to The LEGO Group (TLG) and my wife (Belun) for the support on this reviewing endeavor. Without further ado, I am very pleased to present my latest reviewing adventure on this brand new licensed LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter Series 2 which will be available worldwide in September 2020. This will be my 31st LEGO pictorial reviews for the coverage of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series / LEGO Minifigures Theme

The subsequent expansion of minifigures varieties of the new Harry Potter sequel
50277328908_01a381d27e_o_d.jpg
This is the second LEGO Minifigures series to continue the coverage of next batch of 16 unique LEGO minifigures in the Harry Potter universe, after the successful launch of 71022 - LEGO Minifigures Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Series 1 in August 2018. The regular release of re-designed Harry Potter sets are still going on strong with great and exciting line-up for fans who have missed the LEGO Harry Potter series. By and large, the new series 2 focus more of the sequels when they are no longer children.

With each new releases, the minifigures are getting better with newer/dated design accompanied with detailed improvements. The re-releases of these older designs can also help to soften the resale market of older sets by allowing fans to have more choices to choose from this re-branded universe - LEGO Wizarding World/Harry Potter. With this in mind, this second series seek to complement the minifigures which have not been featured in regular LEGO Harry Potter design sets and to serve as additional variants among them. Please be informed that a portion of the characters' references are linked to harrypotter.wikia.com for additional background information on the named characters for better appreciation.

DISCLAIMER: Please note the naming for all 16 minifigures that I have use in this review are likely to be official TLG minifigures naming for the LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter Series 2.

1) Harry Potter (Hogwarts Outfit)
50277328608_798e28d52c_o_d.jpg
Without further ado, let's bring out the first licensed minifigure design in this series. Harry Potter is the main protagonist and leading character based on JK Rowling's Harry Potter books. Harry Potter had appeared a total of 43 different variants till this date and is one of the most common minifigure in the Harry Potter universe. In the minifigure design, he is a teenager and his outfit seemed to reference from the movie in "Order of the Phoenix".

Parts assortment
50278159902_c865a461ba_o_d.jpg
The parts assortment are slightly above average. The minifigure attire are pretty generic and be used for other customisation purposes. The book is actually entitled on Advanced Potion Making and it is a very neat piece of accessory featuring the folding book and 1x2 printed title of the spell recipe on it. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

2) Albus Dumbledore
50277328438_3f194db5fc_o_d.jpg

Meet the Headmaster of Hogwarts. I am pleased to see another variant Professor Albus Dumbledore with a more regal appearance in this release. He had appeared a total of 7 different variants till this date and in my personal opinion, this is a much nicer design with his red robe and the awesome design of Fawkes which is a steadfast supporter and companion to Dumbledore.

Parts assortment
50277328413_1f04b585ef_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are excellent and is one of my favourite. The red phoenix could be easily used in medieval fantasy setting. The torso design and skirt dress can also be customised for other medieval customisation purposes. The wizard hat is combined together with his white hairpiece and it complements pretty well with his white beard. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

3) Hermione Granger
50277999646_75a623b320_o_d.jpg
The next in line is Hermione Granger with her casual outfit. She had appeared a total of 19 different variants till this date. She is holding a glass of butterbeer and it is certainly nice to see her winding down away from her books.

Parts assortment
50277999586_a45a3afcb0_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are average. The new drink accessory is a nice touch but it would be better to have an additional pet accompanying her.  It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

4) Ron Weasley
50278001121_1f377fe342_o_d.jpg

The next minifigure is Ron Weasley in his casual attire, similar to the earlier minifigure. He had appeared a total of 19 different variants till this date. He is also holding a cup of butterbeer as well.

Parts assortment
50277328153_a2723ef81b_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are average. The new drink accessory is similar and there are no other accessories or items to further distinguish between Ron and Hermione. I thought it was a missed chance to make it a little better apart from using the same set of accessories to associate with these two characters. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

5) Luna Lovegood
50278159422_203bc1227e_o_d.jpg

The next minifigure is also one of my favourite character known as Luna Lovegood. She had appeared a total of 4 different variants till this date. In this design, she was wearing a lion-topped hat to show her support for the Gryffindor Quidditch team whenever they play against the Slytherin Quidditch team. When Luna tapped the hat with her wand, the hat gave out a very loud lion roar.

Parts assortment
50278157977_cb4046118d_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are above average. Luna wears a new headpiece featuring the lion-topped hat. It also include her blond hairpiece which will make her as a regular minifigure. This is a value added feature which help to modify her usage based on the occasions. Her torso design is pretty nice and is a step away from her usual pink. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back viewalternate facial expression (lion-topped hat) and her regular hairpiece with the alternate expression.

6) Griphook
50277327923_727de67d8d_o_d.jpg

The next minifigure is first of its kind known as Griphook. The goblin - Griphook works in the Gringotts Wizarding Bank in Diagon Alley. If you do not count the other goblins who do not have names inside the 4714 Gringotts Bank and 10217 Diagon Alley Griphook also holds the Sword of Gryffindor which is instrumental for Harry Potter to use the sword to destroy the Horcruxes.

Parts assortment
50282559701_ec800483d3_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are excellent. The goblin is also a fine design with the pointy ears and business corporate attire for the torso and short black legs. He also hold a key to the safe. The sword is actually the main attraction with the hilt and sides embedded with red rubies. This is the first of its kind to see such a very detailed and well designed sword from LEGO. I will be using the sword for my sigfig and I am very glad this minifigure is very common. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view

7) Lily Potter
50278000821_e99ae8b774_o_d.jpg

This is the first time we have seen an official LEGO minifigure design of Lily Potter, mother of Harry Potter. She was a muggle and attended Hogwarts and subsequently sorted into Gryffindor House. She took part in the First Wizarding War and married to James Potter. She gave up her life in order to protect her infant son - Harry Potter. I am very glad that we have a chance to see how Lily Potter represent in LEGO.

Parts assortment
50277327868_7c3a1a4253_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are slightly above average. The attire is pretty nice and pleasant. The hairpiece also matched closely with her hair colour. The baby piece is the nice addition as I don't recall seeing a fleshie baby. Please do let me know if I have missed out any new "babies" recently. The baby wrap also have a golden "H" on it. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

8) James Potter
50278000731_8bece79604_o_d.jpg

It took me a great pleasure to see that we finally see an official LEGO minifigure design of James Potter, father of Harry Potter. He was a pure-blood and attended Hogwarts and subsequently sorted into Gryffindor House. He took part in the First Wizarding War and married to Lily Potter. He was killed by Voldemort in his own residence as he does not have his wand with him to defend himself and his family. I am very glad that we have a chance to see how James Potter represent in LEGO.

The parts assortment are above average. The outfit is a pretty standard suit accompanied with a red scarf. I am very fond of the lovely photo of James and Lily Potter in the printed 2x4 tile with golden frame around it. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

9) Ginny Weasley

The next minifigure is Ginny Weasley in her elegant banquet attire where this design showed that she is attending a nice dinner and dance. She had appeared a total of 4 different variants. It is good to see her making an appearance into making this series. She is a pure-blood and lived in the Burrows with his other 6 elder brothers. She

10) Fred Weasley
50278000426_0a0ae9b57f_o_d.jpg

I am glad to see an updated design of the Weasley twins - Fred Weasley. Till this date, we only have seen this design from the earlier Diagon Alley set in 2011. He is holding the briefcase which is actually a disguise for him to store the bets relating to the Triwizard Tournament. You will probably notice the four names and their odds beneath the briefcase. This is a very unique touch to further diversify his entrepreneurship.

Parts assortment
50277327423_f4de951493_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are above average. The outfit is much casual with the beanie together and the outfit is tailored for Fred Weasley which is a distinct difference from his twins counterpart - George Weasley. It included the amazing briefcase content which house the two pieces of 1x1 printed tiles of 6 and 3. There are two spare pieces for it as well. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

11) George Weasley
50278000346_4fd276d448_o_d.jpg

I am glad to see an updated design of the Weasley twins - George Weasley. Till this date, we only have seen this design from the earlier Diagon Alley set in 2011. He is holding the Marauder's Map that revealed the Hogwarts compound including secret passages.

12) Bellatrix Lestrange

The next character is an antagonist and is known as Bellatrix Lestrange. She is a powerful pure-blood witch, who have managed to escaped from Azkaban Prison with the assistance of Lord Voldemort. Till this date, she has appeared a total of 2 different variants. I am glad to see a new variant of this character.

13) Kingsley Shacklebolt

The next character is the first ever appearance of Kingsley Shacklebolt. He is a pure-blood wizard working for the Ministry of Magic as an Auror and was instrumental in the unearthing of Lord Voldemort. His appearance is pretty accurately represented from head to toe in his purple outfit and blue sash. After the defeat of Lord Voldemort, he was named Acting Minister for Magic.

The next Hogwarts character is a ghost spirit of Mytrle Warren, but now she is more commonly known as Moaning Mytrle who haunted the second-floor girls' bathroom at Hogwarts. While she was sulking most of the time in the bathroom, she also come into the possession of TMR book which is also known as the Tom Riddle's Diary and is also a piece of Horcrux.

15) Professor Pomona Sprout
50278001956_f5d92fe4d9_o_d.jpg

I am very pleased to see Professor Pomona Sprout included in this series. So far, we have only seen one design so far and it is timely to see a dated design. She is the Head of Hufflepuff House and Head of the Herbology department at Hogwarts. She is a key figure in the Battle of Hogwarts where she defended against the invaders with the students together.

Parts assortment
50278160347_a8d98b0c9b_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are slightly above average. The design is very nicely done with the overall appearance combined with the torso and skirt dress. It include a similar pot of mandrake which we have seen in the earlier series. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

16) Neville Longbottom
50278160292_d0b97255d2_o_d.jpg

The last minifigure is the unsurprisingly Neville Longbottom in his medium short legs with Hogwarts uniform - Gryffindor. I wonder if TLG have too many spare torsos and legs from the earlier series and it look like an impromptu attempt to form a last minute addition to include Neville Longbottom along with the earlier series. He had appeared a total of 4 different variants till this date. However, this minifigure does come with the new book entitled "The Monster Book of Monster" which is incredibly hard to read as the book will attempt to bite the reader's fingers off.

Parts assortment
50277328988_732e8a3431_o_d.jpg

The parts assortment are slightly above average due to the outstanding design of the book with an unique biting cover and printed 1x2 slope brick. It also include a pair of wand. You can view more of the details from the all rounded view inclusive of front, side and back view and alternate facial expression

The  LEGO Harry Potter Series 2 will be launching on the 1st September 2020 (worldwide)
50277328888_a5a9d8e8ce_o_d.jpg

To conclude, the LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter Series 2 has continued to impressed many LEGO fans especially fans of Harry Potter. Most of the characters are very welcoming and served to complement the previous Series 1 and the other sets which are released in recent years. I would think this will continue to serve to expand further as new movies on Fantastic Beasts - Where to Find them franchise continue. Time will tell what other excitement will TLG install for us.

Please note that all opinions and content shown in this Eurobricks pictorial review is from 'WhiteFang' and is not meant to represent LEGO official views. It is purely stated to share as a vantage point of a reviewer.

Please note that the The LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Series 1 contain the placement of LEGO spare parts/accessories - spare wands.

Summary review
Playability: 10/10 (New licensed characters' designs from the Harry Potter that can be integrated across many new and existing themes/settings.)
Design: 8/10 (A handful of exciting hairpieces, torsos and accessories but noted that some have been re-used quite extensively.)
Price: 6/10 (Pricing doesn't seem to be too friendly and I hope it can continue to maintain. Good that the distribution is very reasonable.)
Overall: 8/10 (Ready yourself for this new set of Harry Potter minifigures. Fans of Harry Potter will be looking forward to it)

I gave it a "5" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours?

I hope everyone of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are welcomed.

Dear Eurobricks Community,

I am very pleased to share with all of you my newest review work on the LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter Series 2, even though I have not reviewed since a year ago. I had just received the box two days ago. Eurobricks is not the only community doing this review. I sincerely hope my latest reviewing work continue to excite. Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments.

Thank you.

WhiteFang

I missed this review format buddy.

Ahh... whatever happened to that 7x distribution that I read about somewhere else. Not that I am complaining. This distribution is fine to me.

Really like the accessories here. Great review! Great HP CMF series!

I've seen some boxes have a single characters distribution out of whack. My DC series case had either 6 or 7 jokers.

Welcome back, Whitefang! As per usual, your review has convinced me there are some figs I need to buy purely for their accessories. Until now, I wasn't planning on buying any. I hope somehow the tradition of your reviews can carry on in the future.

I found a mistake! Number 3) Ron Weasley and then number 4) Ron Weasley ??? Ok one of them is spouse to be Hermione Granger.

When I first seen the whole series, I was like aaeernnn. I was thinking I would only like one or two. But now getting one from Target for $5 I think I will wait and see if I could eventually get the others I want for cheaper like at Walmart.

Thanks Makoy. I am glad my distribution looks normal. I am sure glad there is no strange skew on the ratio. More importantly, it come with 3 complete sets.

I half suspect that as the box is not sticks red/sealed. It may mix up on the actual distribution. Unlike earlier design where the box and packets are smaller in size.

P.S. How do you include polls in topics?

Thanks! Good to be back. Poll can be added for members above 500 posts under EB Knights. It can be found when you create topic under manage poll.

Thanks! I am very happy to know that the review helped you in deciding which mini figures you like to have in your collection.

Thanks for highlighting it out. I have updated the text header. I hope you have luck getting the rest at a very reasonable price.

Good to have you back :sweet:

My favourite is Fawkes and I am disappointed that this series only had one animal mould when the first one had six :hmpf_bad:

However as a big HP/FB fan this is the only licensed series I have any interest in and I will get them all and several of Fawkes
Hopefully we will get a normal series next with a lot of animals like series 19 (and not only one like series 20 had) :excited:

Snagged these earlier today. (the ones I wanted anyway)

So many great parts in this series (Harry's jumper and jeans, the butterbeer glass, Luna's jumper, pants and lion headgear, Griphook's coat and sword, James's suit and scarf, Ginny's "cocktail glass" and brown ice-cream scoops, Fred's case, the Marauder's Map, Bellatrix's cuffs and prison number, Kingsley's outfit and hat)

I wonder if there is a suitable torso that would work with the lion headgear to make a "lion suit guy" for my zoo...

The llama body might work? Though the color wouldn't be correct, but might look ok? I just tried it, and it's "ok", but not great.

I managed to get 12 of the 16 yesterday, and have identified a couple to get duplicates of for their torso parts. I love Ron's torso, and Kingsley's. Some stunning designs there, and I love that very few have the skin tone printed at the collars, making it easy to reuse on yellow figs.. I noticed some of the heads, once placed, are very hard to reposition or remove.

Bought 19 bags (all Target had left) and ended up with 13 of the figs! This is a great CMF and I'm thrilled with the designs and characters. I am curious why Hermione has reddish eyebrows though. Any thoughts?

Yay, a review! So glad to at least see one more.

I finished off my set with the other 8 last night. I took the box as well since it was low anyways. I got it home & realized it’s huge compared to the first series.

Very nice review.

The main trio comes from Half blood Prince episode, they wear exactly the same clothes as on the scene when they are in Hogsmeade pub, drinking a butterbear.

Order is restored to the troubled World - WhiteFang review is back!!

I will as always get all the figs, but my favorite must be Lily Potter - based alone on her torso with the vest. Very much 70ties vibe in that.

Feel good to be back. I do agree the lack of new animal molds (disturbance). My fave is a Griphook and followed by Dumbledore which is largely due to Fawkes. That is one very good air creature. Let’s hope we get to see more good animal stuff in the future.

I did think the closest to the lion suit is from the Wizard of Oz in LEGO Movie Series 2. But the colour differs from Luna variant. If you do find something suiting, I would like to hear from you.

The heads placement work fine for me. So far, I haven’t felt any tight pain grip.

Wow glad you manage to get most of it too. Pretty good score. I hope you can get the remaining three.

Yes indeed, is great to do up this review. Yes, the box is using the bigger design since Unkitty series and LEGO Movie Series 2 CMFs. Since then, it has always been using the bigger box and packets.

Thanks for highlighting. I kept thinking it was from Order of the Phoenix somehow.

Pleased to be back! Agreed that Lily Potter is very usable for further customisation.

I forgot about the Lion from Oz, I can use that figure as-is (with a suitable yellow human head) for my "lion suit guy".

Nice review as always whitefang. But many reviewers got a head start, I understand they are either in regions where this CMF set is released earlier or have them shipped overseas.

I'm still waiting for my local sellers to start listing individual packs. They're listing entire sets and boxes for sale at the moment. Like usual, I'm buying just a select few, not the entire set. Can't afford it really, to go collecting it all.

On my buy list are Ron, George, Fred and Luna. I'm also very fond of the dark red scarf on James but I'll wait for this element in BL. Hermione leg assembly is a fine piece too which I hope to get in BL.

One good thing about this CMF is the unusual number of wands. I like this element (in sprue form) a lot. I expect to see prices of it dropping as more sets/minifigs come with this element.

I'll be hunting down a couple of new elements from BL .... more butterbeer mugs ... Sword of Griffindor. First time I'm seeing a double-moulded sword piece. Not the best looking sword I've seen (I don't just live in a purist LEGO world) but I appreciate the double-moulding effort.

The red on the sword is trans-red. I bought a second of Griphook and will reuse the sword in a small Sword in the Stone display in my winter village.

Glad you find the review useful which I hope to give a full picture of it. I sure hope you can score the accessories which you are gunning for.

The sword is my top favorite in this series. Thankfully it is not that hard to obtain. Yes, it will make a fine centerpiece in your winter village.

WhiteFang Welcome back! :pir-laugh:

Your reviews/insight/humour of both Series 20 and DC Series was certainly missed...and thought I was missing something until I had discovered your "retirement" after some 10 years of a very much-anticipated review.

I have yet to get my case as seems my local sources did not get it before the release date. Had been getting nervous about the case distribution as have been seeing some worrying numbers by others that have found cases (only 1-2 sets per sealed box).

Glad to be back. Apologies for missing out the earlier two series. I will try to do the DC series somehow, but not sure if it will be any useful to you guys after quite sometimes. I look forward to you to score some good minifigures in your hunt. So far, I think my distribution is the most normal looking among the rest who have gotten a sealed box. The inconsistency does worry somehow. I do hope it is not prevalent.

I received my case and the distribution was as you reported...so good news. No need to apologize for missing two series...you've been faithfully doing this for 10 years...we all need a break.

I also found some additional information that might be interesting. The first couple series used to be backed 2 boxes per case. LEGO than had switched this to one box per case. But on talking to a local retailer it seems they have 2 options now...one box per case or a case of 4 boxes, which was the route my retailer took. These were not sealed boxes along the top edge as in the past. Additionally the lot number was not stamped on the bottom of a box yet is on the back of the bag (though not stamped in the bottom seal as in the past) All this just goes to say that a different process for packing these is definitely evident.

Take care :)

I received my case and the distribution was almost as you reported, but I had 6 Myrtles and only 2 James.  For anyone who keeps track, no Ron, Harry or Hermoines were in the left column, and all three of the Ginnys and Kinglseys were.  Most of the Ron and Hermoines were in the right hand column.  Very odd.
